An 8-Year Timeline of DML - Every Good & Bad Event, Update and My Final Feedback

- Hello there. So this video I planned on making for a short while, but I wanted to go through a timeline of DML from start to finish, from day 1 of playing the game. As of next month, DML will have been out for 8 years (which is when I first started playing). In order to give more context as to why the newest events in DML are viewed so negatively, I wanted to go from start to finish in order to get a better idea of what were the good and bad points in DML. This is a very long video, although I didn't go into any particular events in extreme depth, but this was moreso a video I wanted to make to give you an idea of how each event made me feel when they were released and ultimately, how each event compared to each other over the years.
I appreciate you tuning into this video and any previous content. I don't actually enjoy being negative about things and I truly did wish the best for DML, especially with some of the opportunities I was given in past by Gameloft.

I started playing in 2016, I was a DML fanatic, I'd play everyday for hours breeding and collecting items and resources and doing events. As time went on it was always more difficult to complete events, to have enough resources to catch up with the updates and the game was getting way too heavy on my phone's storage.
Then I realised that... I just didn't like the game anymore. This game that was a huge chunk of my childhood stopped being a comfort game of collecting cute dragons, and instead became a chore: join, claim daily bonus, 100+ days of mediocre daily gifts until I get the next dragon. Check arena, check enchant arena, did I breed the next dragon I'm looking for? No? Let's try again. Only 5 days left for these events, I won't be able to finish them even if I grind my brains out.
It's sad to see that other people think the same way, and I feel bad to have left this game, but it just wasn't a good way to spend my time anymore.

Its crazy because i forgot that ive played this game since the start and I remember almost all of this. Sad to see this game lose its best content creator.

What you've mentioned in the present video is a very well thought out. I often used to think I was the only one who was unable to play properly.

Really unfortunate how this game has gone down hill. I had a wonderful time playing this game, building a team and grinding, but the last year has burned me out. I retired months ago and I'm happier for it.

i was there since dungeon's release and everthing was perfect, honestly maybe ill be one of the only group of people that preffer the actual game, from the dungeon's upd they managed to give us good updates and good stuff and thats why i love this game

I finished watching this video, I opened DC and after watching some ads I got High Entity for free 😂. DML never gave us good dragons that easily...

Really good video. I played DML Dec 2015- Sep 2020. Then, this Nov I returned in the middle of a Primal Event which was boring imo. This Tyrant event too.
With the video I could realise the downfall of DML these last 2 years...

I started playing around 2015 too, and oh the nostalgia. i stopped about a year after and didnt play much until later 2019 when i realized, wow this is new.
i wish it was as good as it was back then.
I'm playing again but I'm not rly an active player. I'm not ready to delete it yet so I'm still logging in, it was my whole childhood.
i used to love this game just cause of the dragons i had epics before but i still enjoyed playing with the melon dragon i couldnt make it in time for calender events too but i enjoyed it regardless and the most fun thing was enchantment battles where are those now ?
I joined in September, just in time to see it all end in flames lol now that I understand how this game is ran I no longer get worried about missing out on events since the whole business mode is made around making players feel like they are missing out or run them out of time to make them pay real money.

jesus i loved the old dungeon. i remember getting the dungeon dragons easily at some point, like ive received 4-8 kitsune dragons (also the others but i dont remember how much)

I loved to play this game so much as a kid and recently started playing again after a few years. It's sad to see what this game has become and I don't think I'll continue to play

I have left since begin june this year because I was bored out of my mind and being mad at gameloft never listening to their community so they better give us a mind blowing update that will bring alot of people back or end up being very hated by their community
God dml is done for and all you said was true i had multiple accounts and have played since 2016 my most recent account is from 2018 and i want to share my bad experience with this game to you.
When the fire ancient event started i was hyped and i wanted at least ik,ez out of it i was so active and i opened 500-600 chests to try to get river dragon i got 2 fire star dragons and 1 was even a full drop! And at the end of the event this is where i was with my progress 418/500 pieces for pokra, 300 and something/500 pieces for molim and 76 PIECES OUT OF 100 FOR RIVER AND I DIDN'T GET IK,EZ BECAUSE OF THIS DAMN RIVER DRAGON and to this day i despise the river dragon! Btw i didn't spend a dollar on the game and i eventually got pokra out of the altar from a recent ancient event.
So sad to see this game die especially with you quitting it, first time I played was well before the shadow and light elements, I miss those days and this game will forever have a place in my heart 😢

@@quackalakes i think it was such a great game of my childhood, and yet im gonna try to get a 2nd legendary, since i got the pixel dragon like a year ago, the legendary im trying to get is: the narwhale dragon.

Dragon City has been a lot more rewarding for me f2p than DML has been during my paying years

I came back to the game since I lost my hephaestus dragon and my old acc I VERY LUCKILY got a 100 tickets drop and alot of 50 talisman drops to get my 1st tyrant dragon but this tyrant event is clearly here for whales and I hate it. I almost dont wanna use my tyrant dragon but its my only good dragon :/

DML had a great concept at the beginning. Creature collection and turn-based RPG all in one, with cute dragons to boot? I loved it six years ago!
But they ruined it. They could've just remixed the campaign map a few times over with harder dragons, released new ones through dragon of the month/week, and kept everything else as it was from 6-7 years ago, and it would've been better than what we have now.
I quit DML for good during the Origin of Void event, and that might've been the best decision I've ever made in mobile gaming. Good riddance, Gameloft.

Dragon city is just as p2w as dml
It's much more f2p friendly however. For instance, I haven't made a single purchase in dragon city yet I've collected almost 700 dragons in half a year. That wouldn't have been close to possible in DML f2p

@@mr.x4121 lmao, I mean there's no denying that DC and DML are both p2w games. They're both timer based games that rely on gems for the majority of the time skipping etc so there's no way to say they're fundamentally not p2w, but one is much more f2p friendly than the other in the year 2023
