Man U are the 🐐. This is exactly what I want. A little thump so I can hear it but not everyone outside
glad to help!
AWSOME. Just got my 4 door speakers and tweeters. Waiting on the sub woofer and the amp. !! Thanks these really help!
That was a good and very helpful video. The instructions were clear and straightforward.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video, thanks for the tip about adding another foot of wiring. Looking to fix up my subwoofer soon!
Just got a 04 burban I will be making this upgrade soon thanks for the video
How did it go?
Awesome video, very detailed for a novice like myself
Glad to hear it!
Great job and very helpful
Appreciate the comment, thanks for watching.
Steve, a nice video I need to get some of those trim tools thank you.👍👍👍🍺😁
Thanks so much, Lou!
Nice sets are available either locally at Harbor Freight Tools or at Amazon.
amazon has a nice set with a screw driver version . that thing is handy
Yes it was a helpful video but I just replaced the subwoofer in my 2001 Suburban with a SVC Blaupunkt, the sub box for the Tahoe is set in the panel vertically and appears to have a deeper box for the sub, on the other hand the suburban subwoofer box is set in the panel horizontally leaving more shallow space for the subwoofer to fit in. I was able to mount the new subwoofer by manufacturing a gasket ring so the sub would seat and be air tight....there’s plenty of Tahoe DIY videos but suburban videos seem to be few and far between. This video did help though
It might be kinda late now but any video for a tahoe is pretty much gonna apply to suburban,yukon,etc..
Got quick question I wanna add an amp and subs to my 02 tahoe z71, if I hook them up will I have to do anything to the stock amp it comes with or should it still work
Hey steve do you know what watts are rated in the stock sub?
Great video thanks 🙏🏽
My pleasure!
I'm curious... 01 and 02 had the subs back here, 03-06 (and newer) have them under the center console... BUT.... on the 03-06 trucks, is there still harness run back to this location? Namely a low pass harness meant for the sub? If so I'd love to put one back here as well.
i dont know. my only point of reference is my 02
I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe currently have a pioneer single DIN head unit RP 2000.1 skar evl dual 10s...
Ofc wire all the way around RCA cables on the opposite side.
it was working very good and all of a sudden I heard a thump and no more Bass.
I adjusted everything checked everything and everything is okay.
the next morning my fuse was melted and I had no bass.I took my truck to a professional audio shop in the guy said my subwoofer is no good.they Are covered under two-year warranty so I ship them back.when I remove them from my truck I noticed a burnt black round circle underneath where the subwoofers were sitting.... I don't know if this has anything to do with my issue but just throwing it out there.... I bought me a new amp in a new subwoofer hoping to rule out a problem and I'm still having the same problem with my vehicle...everything turns on it has volts my RCA cables are working plus the settings on my head unit are set for a working subwoofer.
But I still do not get the power output the amplifier thump AKa the bass I have no bass like if I have no subs at all...idk can someone please help me????
Is the sub located in the same spot on the 2005, bose system?
I'll check that website out
Hey what did u use to cut the box
Are there any Amp modifications needed?
I second this comment, thanks for the video
What kind of speaker wire did you use? I’m doing the same to my 01 Tahoe
It’s a stock sub
So it will not fit without "botching" it? What did you use to make the hole bigger?
When I did this, I used a dremell and don't recommend it. If I had it to do again, I would use a router.
THIS REALLY HELP ME OUT, I WAS ABLE TO SEE WHAT I NEEDED TO DO
so glad to hear that. keeps me motivated to keep making videos.
Good videoer
thanks
If my 03 Tahoe doesnt have the 8inch factory sub and box in that location can one be installed from a 02 like yours?
Yes
Just read the other comments and answered my question.
ok.
I have an 04 base Tahoe,I have the prompt in the back there but no speaker, can I still put a subwoofer back there and tap into the tweeter speakers for it to work, and maybe put a amp back there as well?
Anything can be done but just know that your 04 is one Gen newer than my 02 and things will be a bit different.
Ok,I may have to replace that whole left console cause the speaker that would be there is closed up so if I were to put a speaker there I have to open up the whole as well.
Hey Tahoe Steve, where did you add the amp on the vehicle?
Under rear seat, drivers side
I had to replace my subwoofer in my 2002 Suburban. I used a Planet Audio 8". It is nice. I wonder how it compares to JL Audio. The $30 subwoofer made a world of difference.
Steve, did you have amp for the subwoofer and was is the link for the amp?
Yes, my amp is a 5 channel amp: amzn.to/37XyxG2 . If I were to buy a mono amp today, I would get this one amzn.to/38VVkmV
How is that Planet Audio sub? I'm thinking of buying one for my 02 Tahoe.
@@ernestspriggs5701 It has been a couple of months now and no regrets.
Nice an lil 🤔🤔😦👀😦 it looks like a mini jackhammer sub 👌👍😬 nice 🙂
Thanks
Thank you!
hi man I searched all over the internet.I want a Subwoofer for my Yukon XL 2000 that fits with no playing around with the enclosure box or removing the ring cover of the sub. MB Quart DS1-204 and Kicker CompRT are very colse but in both cases I'll have to remove the ring cover of the sub some people call it beauty cover but it is very important not to remove it because of the immediate air leak or eventually over time. I just want a shallow mount sub that slides in with no modification. thanks man!
drilling holes for the screws is no big probleme
Did you run that sub off of the factory amp? Or did you already have aftermarket amps already.
aftermarket
How many watts is your aftermarket amp?
just drill the holes before you wire ?
Do you also have an Amp or is this just with your factory setup?
Yes, ï have an aftermarket amp
HEY, I know the black guy's work. Congrats, you are in good company!
Question, did u replace the factory amp also?
I bypassed the factory amp and put in an aftermarket amp. I have videos on everything.
@@TahoeSteve whats the video? i want to bypass my factory amp on my 02 yukon i want to put a memphis amp
You should have used a trim router and template, set the depth and your good to go.
I have 2006 Yukon,I don't think I have a speaker in mine,at least I know there's no sound coming out,what about tweeters,I wanna replace them to,even tho they Bose,can u help wit that
your 06 is one Gen newer than my 02 and things will be a bit different.
Tahoe Steve 06 was the last year of your generation, 07 was the change :)
Pretty sure Gen 3 is 99-02
Tahoe Steve oh i was unaware that the 00-02 and 03-06 were considered separate generations, sorry
I'm finally just getting to that speaker, so one question Steve what size was that woofer again was it a seven or eight, remember mines 2006 GMC SLT Yukon what size woofer do I need for that
not the right sub for that small box , no port?
Where can I get the factory box?
I think the truck has to come with Bose audio system pre-installed.
Out of a truck from a salvage yard.
You gotta use a solid speaker gasket not some squares spaced out, and get a hot glue gun and seal up the wire hole too, your prolly gonna have some air leaks lowering the sound quality.
You do have a amp going to it right. Not just stock
yes
@@TahoeSteve Factory? Aftermarket? Wattage?
Was there a amplifier next to it
no. amp is under the back seats
Do you need a amp or can you just replace it
my 02 tahoe had a factory amp. but yes, i did replace it with a much better one.
@@TahoeSteve I want to replace my amp as well for my 2002 Yukon but I don’t know which one I want to go with. Which one do you have?
My Yukon has a stock sub that was 2 ohm and yours you put in was 4 ohm, and I met this mechanic who said my yukon could not power a 4ohm sub but you said it sounds amazing. I guess your car can power 4 ohm?
It can push it but it’s to much and likely has distortion when turned up loud what can be done is a 8 ohm daul voice coil which is 4ohms each coil you hook the the one channel in parallel to the sub in turn cuts it down to a 2ohm resistance I just ordered one and this is my plan after some research
He used an aftermarket amp.
Should I take the insulation out??
Nope.
This is best way...
thanks for watching
5:16 don't want to be tethered while screwing! 😂
i know, right?
What did you hook up the sub to?
Amp
@@TahoeSteve what amp and where did you put the amp?
@@juan428r hes got a video on it look up tahoe steve amp
there is no way that tiny lil box has the volume required for that JL
Which 8” model is that? I wanna make sure not to get one that’s too deep.
Never mind I see the link
in the description
What amp did u use and whats the model of the speaker used
Amp is a Kenwood 5 channel amp
Play it!
i do, everyday.
Do you have an amp on it?
yes
where's the amp?
Under the rear left seat
Gonna add a amplifier see were that takes me
Screw on magnetic speaker ?
wha?
Ur speaker had screw
Is this in a 07 tahoe?
Mine is a 2002
Looking to locate my woofer in my 07 tahoe.
Hey Steve,I have an 04 Tahoe,my truck is a base model-it has no speaker in the back but does have tweeter speakers in the rear, can I tap into those speaker lines and connect a subwoofer to that and put a subwoofer there, the spot and place is there it’s just no speaker.
Yeah it's hell being tetherd to the car while you're "doing your screwing."
i know, right?
Wat size is it
8
That's a rather personal question.
You sound like Tom Hanks lol
Hanks is the man, so I'll take it as a compliment. BTW, I'm an obsessive VH fan, check out my other channel ... ua-cam.com/channels/aARXWPK2DOo3r8rmVvqccQ.html
@@TahoeSteve Tom Hanks is a terrible neighbor. Just ask anyone who lives near his Idaho home. He and his wife ruin people's lives for sport. They're human trash.
Unless that's a dvc sub it's not going to play to it's potential. The factory sub is a 2ohm unit. Wire a dvc to be a 2ohm load.
Exactly, my Yukon has a stock sub that is 2 ohm. I can’t find a factory one so I must buy a different one. Should I not do 4 ohm?
@@brandonfaulk8232 buy a dual voice coil sub. The majority of what's on the market are dvc. Just wire up both positives and negatives.
@@my95buick thx for the suggestion but I actually need something way different apparently. I bought this kicker 8” sub and it comes on Friday which is when I will install it. According to the video that told me to get it… I’ll let you know how it works.
@@brandonfaulk8232 😎. I actually ran an 8" planet audio. It was struggling. I lengthened the wire and put a Memphis 15 back there. I've got a small mtx thunder class d mono amp to be installed soon.
@@my95buick I’m just hoping my kicker works 😂
Hey Steve....that's a "D pillar" you skipped one. Just saying.
Great instructor
On the contrary $200 on 1 sound piece too expensive will find cheaper geez
I've bought cheaper ones and I have blown every single one. This one has held up great.
@@TahoeSteve not putting $200 in 1
I understand
Blu-Ray calm down bruh
@@mikezaloudek4893 you sticking your nose in this thread not even talking to you geez
If my 03 Tahoe doesnt have the 8inch factory sub and box in that location can one be installed from a 02 like yours?
Yes.
