St. Louis Musician here from back in the day. Bob died today. So very very sad. He had been suffering with ALS for the past year or two. Shows will not be the same without him.
Rest In Peace, Beatle Bob. You are loved and will be missed, tremendously. St. Louis concerts won't be the same without you! I hope you're dancing your ass off, wherever you are. Rock on, legend!
deep sighs... Bob was and ever-shall-be, a national treasure. As unique, unapologetic about his likes, deeply generous with his gifts and knowledge of rock & roll history. Rest in the Lord's Peace, my friend. it was always a pleasure to see you dance when we played thru at the Off-Broadway...
You know you picked the right band to see if Beatle Bob is at the same show you are at. The guy has impeccable taste in music. Happy to say I've been at many a show in New Orleans during JazzFest where Beatle Bob was in attendance doing his thing. He bothered me a bit at first but over time I came to dig the guy. Gotta dig someone who loves music as much as he does. And yes GBV and Pollard rule!
Anytime we do a visit to a St. Louis club (Off Broadway, Blueberry Hill, etc) to see a band, Bob is there about 75% of the time. He is has to be THE ultimate music fan. Rock on Beatle Bob and GBVs!
Right in front @ Mississippi Nights, every show I ever seen there. A young Mr. Pollard is jamming nicely as well. Great tribute or introduction to Mr. Bob.
Beatle Bob is a really nice guy and very good writer / reviewer. I've never been to St Louis but have met him a couple of times at festivals and he sent me personal greetings for New Year's Eve on several occasions.
Classic video. I'm a huge fan of GBV and grew up in the St. Louis music scene where Beatle Bob was a fixture. People like him make the scene. Huge props to Guided by Voices for honoring him. Your music has been an essential soundtrack.
I recall a guy at the dancingjoint we used to go. He resembles Beatle Bob. We called him Braces Bob, for he was allways (no exception!) wearing red trouser-suspenders. Same movements, same hair, almost same name! I think they came by flying saucer and were dropped random..
Beatle Bob takes away from the brilliance of this song. I don't know Beatle Bob, but what has he created. Money and time affords you the opportunity to see bands or amass albums. All this really doesn't matter, creating sonic masterpieces does.

Both Bobs in this video are one of a kind.
Just wanted to let you all know that Beatle Bob passed away in the arms of his family yesterday, a victim of ALS. He will be missed in St. Louis.

I don't know who Beatle Bob is. He looks like Bob Gillespie, sort of....
@altrotter What are the inappropriate decisions that he makes? I'm not being sarcastic, I genuinely am interested as to what these would be.
I thought he didn't drink
How'd they get Neil Diamond to dance in their video? Amazing....
