I own a Spark and a Yamaha and the Yamaha is the way to go. Tones are great. I will say though that although you can get a really great gain sound at low levels- if you go too low there is a "clipping point" where the mids suddenly drop out giving you a really muffled scoop sound that isn't great. So it's true you can go low volume but you probably won't enjoy it if you go too low.
Really incredable guitar players making reviews these days. So that we can see how the amp reacts to a real guitar playing. Greetings from Turkey! Loved the review and your style🤘
Best review I’ve seen on this amp... I ordered a spark way back when (haven’t got it yet) but I’ve been wanting one of these even back in the old version... I may get one of these as well. My whole thing is getting whisper quite volume but monster tone
Great playing dude loved the wish upon a star cover! I do notice a difference adjusting the master and guitar volume in note attack when you dime the guitar or master and use the other knob to control the overall volume you can get the fattest pinch harmonics at whisper quite volumes that way its wild.
Thinking about buying one. I love those Pristine Cleans with a Strat. Almost Fender-like? Nice playing, review and demo. Enjoyed it. oNe LovE from NYC - Update purchase the Black-one 9/3/22 - I am very impressed - Killer little amp. Enjoyed the informative demo.
Very pretty song u played , I enjoyed your video very much. I have his amp and will receive my new fender telecaster tomorrow and was looking for a good setting
Hey! Thanks for the review. LOVE your cover of When You Wish Upon a Star. Do you, by chance, have a tab for it? Would be a heck of a lot easier than trying to puzzle it out by watching. Thanks again!
I pre-ordered the spark amp. There's no comparisons. Yamaha sold different models depending on what music genres and missed out that a software mfgrs. Was making the most awesome amp of generations and ones ahead.
2 questions, has anyone used this amp for vintage tube tones? Also, has anyone used the nylon string preset? I have the thr5 and the nylon string preset is off limits for that amp.
Well.. there’s a work around to that. Take the L/R line outs to your L/R ins on your looper take the L/R outs using 1/4” stereo to 1/8” TRS into the AUX in.
Does the THR play guitar through both speakers? Because I tried already 2 THRs 30 II and I got impression, that guitar plays only through LEFT speaker of THR amp - can anyone confirm?
Hey Sam, so could this replace my THR10X for the high gain stuff? And how does it sound running backing tracks through it compared to the THR10X .. that’s a sore point for me on on the THR10X .. just too boxy sounding for my ears personally. Like everyone else .. love your playing .. always inspires me to play. Thanks for all your UA-cam vids man 👍 Peace (p.s. hope you post more vids playing through it soon :D )
The THR10/30ii has the THR10X AND THR10C built in. It's the modern and boutique settings. I have the THR10ii. you can only access the modern and boutique through the app, it doesn't have the switch like the 30. I'm generally happy with the sound of backing tracks but I don't have anything to compare it to.
Do you ever notice any kind of speaker breakup or distortion when you crank the volume up on your thr 30? Ive noticed this is something that happens with mine when its too loud. Almost like the speakers cant handle it. Just curious if this is abnormal or if im literally just overwhelming the speakers
Cameron Cooper haha thanks for the reply man. I know ive already asked you and ive received an answer which i greatly appreciate. 😅 I just wasnt sure who would reply lol
It's utterly ridiculous to me that they released it without any consideration of a footswitch, unlike Boss. I actually prefer the Yamaha tonally, but having to buy an iRig footswitch and use my phone to link the two pushes the price up to around £500 - not counting a phone or pad! The Katana MK2 100 2 x 12 with a GA-FC is around the same but offers considerably more flexibility; use as a pure power amp, gigging viability........and the 50 1 x 12 is around £100 less. Shame.
@@KelsterVonShredster That's the problem, I've really not been impressed with the Katana - tonally at least - but the Yamaha isn't as well thought out from the perspective of a practice amp.
@@MercutioUK2006Yamaha is the perfect practice amp imo. With katana’s and the like all your doing is tweaking to try and get a good sound, which for me never happened. With the Yamaha you get a good tone right out of the box and can tweak it a little in the app if you so desire. If you like endless tweaking get a katana but if you want good tone get a Yamaha THR.
I found 2 flaws of THR30 II : 1) Choose some factory preset, go to the tuner, leave the tuner - you're no more on this factory preset. 2) Guitar and Audio volume knobs do nothing for LINE outputs - this is some major drawback.
It sounds better with different cabs. One of my tightest, high gain patches is the boutique on crunch mode with one of the 2 x 12 cabinets, believe it or not.
I finally got the Spark and love the features on it, but the sound has too much bass on any given tone. It has a boxy sound and also sounds muffled, almost like a blanket/pillow is over the speaker. Spent a lot of time trying to tinker tones/effects to make it sound clear and brighter (using a strat) and still no go. It is bad enough to where it may be a return/sell for me despite the killer features it carries.
I agree with Mouth. I own both of those amps and the THR has far superior tone. The Spark is too bassy/muffled. I couldn't dial it out no matter how I tried. Plus the THR gives you speaker cabinet modeling which really makes a big difference. At present the Spark does not.
@@lancelotlink6545 Hey man thanks for your input, it's really interesting how diverse the opinions are. May I ask, what type of music do you like to play with your THR? oh s far as the cabs yeah I did like that about the THR but the Spark will be adding that in March as per PG.
@@diegofiorillo6412 I'm playing rock, blues and a bit of jazz-ish type music. I don't really do any metal though I think this amp could handle that. I'm playing mostly humbucker type guitars but I do play a tele with noiseless pickups. If you are playing a strat you might have a very different experience.
You’ve made this amp sound the best I’ve heard yet. Can’t tell if it’s the amp or the phenomenal playing
Listening to you through a Yamaha THR20II right now. Killer technology!

Such a great amp!

Yes there’s a way to use a looper. Outputs to inputs from outputs to AUX in. Use a 1/4” to 1/8” TRS for the AUX.
Yes this is true !! There is a video on UA-cam also on how to do it

this little amp is actually loader then it seems in this great video
Wow, nice. Thanks for the video.

If this guy isn't working for Yamaha, he should be. Really inspiring playing that could sell them a tonne of amps...
Nice playing man! what are you playing at 2:51?
Wow nice playing i'd love to learn that bit you do at 4:30 that sounds great !!
the mario galaxy piece at 3 minutes was superb
You can also line out into a looper or other and go back into the audio in. got one today. Fun. 😁

Hi Sam.
Can you use loop pedal on this amp?
Yes. Line out to the looper, and send the signal back to aux in with a cheap adapter. Works great.
If it had an effects loop for a looper pedal it would be perfect. But... :o(
@100 100% correct even works with a stereo looper to get the sweet stereo reverbs

It should play through both sides. It’s stereo. Not sure why that’s happening?
Is it good for bass?
What is the Song at 2:50 called?
When you wish upon a star
BOSS KATANA still behind in tone science. YAMAHA THR2 still the king of the hill
