I was born there in 1950. I was raised in California but my mother and siblings moved back to La Grande while I was in the service. It is a lovely little city. My cousin is the mayor of Elgin.

I grew up there. Left in 1976. I sure looks different now. Bigger and cleaner.

Nicely done! La Grande is my hometown, but I moved away in 1983. It sure has changed.

My father was born there in 1937. They moved to Baker city. Then to Sacramento California in 1941.

Cool town. My wife and I lived there for about a year working a contract for GRH. Unfortunately GRH is not what was advertised so we had to leave that place and if you are in healthcare they are the only show in town so we moved back to Oklahoma. I loved La Grande and all my friends I met there. Great town.

Hi I know this is an old comment, but what was the issue with the hospital? I’m a nursing student looking to move somewhere in oregon; trying to stay out of portland if possible.

@@colematthews7535 my wife is a provider and that is a problematic situation with them. However from a nurses perspective it will probably be a good place to work. They tend to pay well and the area is a great place to live.

Looking at a 3 month temp assignment as a Dietitian there and wondering about the hospital culture there

@@questioneverything1776 sorry I just saw this. The culture with GRH depends on your position with them. From a nursing perspective I would work for them. They pay well and nurses are in demand so it wasn’t a bad situation. From the providers prospective (which my wife is) it’s a whole different ball game. All I will say is they are not at all what they claim so be very cautious when in talks with them and research every claim they make.

Glad to find the Protests coverage in La Grande before we started shopping for homes there. Sadly the area appears to have a growing population and community with a spirit of anarchy like Portland and other cities across America ~ What a loss for such a beautiful area.

You can thank the liberal Marxist jargon being regurgitated daily by the EOU professors. The upside down pentagram/Masonic lodge plays a role in this as well.

I lived there a couple of years ago and I didn’t get the anarchy vibe. The surrounding area is much more conservative but like so many populated areas it does have its extreme liberals but overall I did not get any anarchy vibes.
