    Super Tip! How to find .plist of Installed Apps?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  10 місяців тому

      Do you mean the preferences for the app? Depends on the app. Some store them at a .plist in ~/Library/Preferences. But others use more modern containers for the data.

    Thank you so much for sharing this tip...
    I am so embarrassed to ask this question...
    I used to use a MacBook Pro Laptop 2011
    I had to switch and use a HP, NOW I have to use my old MBP and I can't remember how to get my email...
    I wonder... how could I use that for so many years... knowing I used it for my email,, but I can't even find the icon for my mail...
    Please Help.
    Thank you so much,
    Judi

      Hard to advise based on just that. Do you mean you are trying to find the Mail app? Just use LaunchPad or Spotlight or look in the Applications folder.

      I thought about the Application folder too... but the icon is not in there either... which is so strange...
      I am having to go to Google and click on email that way... but wanted the icon on my dock

    Hello there I'm a big fan of your channel and contents, can you explain to us how to change the name of the home mac folder ?
    thanks

    • @macmost
      @macmost  3 роки тому +1

      In general, you don't. It could cause a lot of problems. If you have a very good reason to do so, I recommend just creating a new user account on your Mac with the name you want. Then move everything to it.

    I’m learning how to use mac/unix rn and for the life of me i can’t understand why they hide certain folders. I made a new folder for coding using terminal and Nano but i can’t find them at all in the finder app. So dumb

    • @macmost
      @macmost  10 місяців тому

      If you made the folder, then you should know where it is, right? macOS is not hiding it from you in that case, it is just a matter of creating the folder where you want it and remembering that location.

    I recovered lost files (pictures & videos) from iCloud through a third party software, but the recovered files are each individually deep into various folders. How do I retrieve all the files without having to click through various folders to access one at a time, not even knowing what picture or video it will end up being?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  9 місяців тому

      You probably can't. Sounds like whatever software you are using is just giving you raw files. You'll now have to go through them one-by-one.

    If we delete unnecessary things from those hidden files because they’re taking up space, does it effect our laptops in a bad way?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  10 місяців тому

      If you know for a fact they are unnecessary, like they are files you created that you don't want anymore, then it doesn't affect anything. Otherwise, if you don't know if a file is needed or not, don't delete it.

    Why do they hide everything from us 😂

    • @macmost
      @macmost  4 місяці тому +1

      You probably know the answer already, but for others: You really need to know what you are doing to change or delete files from the Library folder. You can easily make a mistake and disable an app or delete important data. So putting an extra step like holding down the option key when using the Go menu helps avoid mistakes.
