OMG clicked on your video so fast! Will be stalking these when they come to Amazon CA or USA
You are going to LOVE these new colours, Jody!! :)
If you struggle with undertones, pick up some neutral grey palette paper. This really helps you see the difference between them vs swatching on white paper. After you train your eyes a bit you may find it easier to tell at a glance, but it depends on the individual. We all see color differently, and many people are walking around with some variation of color blindness they don't even know they have. I have a friend that was in her late 40's before she realized she didn't see yellow like most people do. My ex-husband was 35 before he realized he couldn't see pink at all.. he knew he had a problem with green and blue looking the same, but the pink was a total surprise. He had to attend a court hearing out of state and picked up a nice new shirt to wear.. thought it was white.. it was a lovely bright girly pink and he had no idea until he got home and I commented on it when unpacking his laundry. Another tip is to swatch the color next to a known warm/cool version.. the difference is often more obvious. So you would swatch an unknown blue next to ultramarine and phthalo (warm/cool). One other thing that helps some people is to swatch next to what would be the compliment for that color if it were either warm or cool.. so mystery blue next to warm and cool orange. Neutrals are a bit more challenging but just compare them to known warm/cool primaries. They contain all three colors in some percentage.
You are so right. I have painted and drawn all my life. In my 60's ich I had cataract surgery, and to my dismay what I saw as a white colour then was more of a neutral white more off-white. The day after, the eye patch came out I could hardly tolerate the white, it was so bright. I wondered how I did use the colour white in my painting.........scary.!
Excellent thoughts from both of you! I'll definitely keep your ideas in mind, waymire, when I'm struggling to see undertones. Thank you!
I just got my first 24 set of Staedtler pens to try. Now I can't wait for the 60 to come to the US. Oh, and I stayed to the end. ❤❤❤
Excellent! :) They are such fun pens to colour with! :)

Can't wait to get the new set & the blender, here in the States~ I think I'll try an empty pen from the first set as a blending pen. I made it all the way, Connie🤖
Excellent idea!! :)
I couldn’t order them fast enough. Thank you for this thorough video on them and for the chart. I love them just as much as you do so I totally get your excitement.
Enjoy the new colours! :)
Fantastic Connie - loved the whole video! So fun to see you so excited too! I love the look of the new colors and can't wait to get them. Thank you for sharing all the work you did to examine the new colors and put into color order - this is something I needed.

Can’t wait to see the video when you get the aqua drop liner to see how that works out. I will get one if all looks good. Ty for your videos ❤❤❤
There might just be something coming out very soon! :)
Took these out of my cart this morning, and then this video came up. Back into the cart.
Be careful to watch and wait for a good price - the price seems to change daily and it's kind of all over the place right now. Hopefully, there might be a good deal for Prime Day. :)
Hi Connie I have the 36 set will be watching for these for sure. I also have the 36 set of pencils love them both.
Awesome! Enjoy! :)
Such a fun review Connie!! Your enthusiasm is joyous to watch, tfs ❤

:D It really was Christmas in July!!! The new colours are so beautiful! So glad you liked the video!
I love everything about this video! 😊 So excited for you and excited for me too when the Staedtler 60 eventually hits US Amazon 😂
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Still here lol. Great video and so fun to see the colors of each of the sets!
Glad you liked it - and thanks for staying until the end! :)
Hello Connie So happy for you. I cannot Wait till you use the blending solution. Please Connie use in a Korean book. 💐💐
I'll see what I can do! :)
The way I dropped everything to watch this video! Can’t wait to see you color with these! Please don’t ever feel like you are too “nerdy” cause your nerdiness is how I found you & why I subscribed!
You did touch on this a bit, but I am curious what you would recommend for like 6-12 Pitt pens that would supplement nicely the Staedtler pens. I want to try the Pitt pens but they are obvs very pricey. Thank you for the exciting video!
Glad you like my "nerdiness"! :)
I would definitely suggest getting Pitt Pens 220 Light Indigo and 101 White (make sure the white is the brush nib). I also really like 172 Earth Green and 174 Chromium Green Opaque. There isn't really a colour like 172 in the Staedtler range. Pitt 174 is similar to Staedtler 57 Olive Green but not quite the same. Pitt 114 Pale Pink is much lighter than any of the Staedtler colours and is good for blending. Pitt 103 Ivory is also much lighter than any Staedtler colour and is also good for blending. I really like using Pitt 270 Warm Grey I for so many things - rocks, bricks, stonework, old paper. So that's:
101 White (brush)
103 Ivory
114 Pale Pink
220 Light Indigo
172 Earth Green
174 Chromium Green Opaque
270 Warm Grey I
That's 7 (but you could drop 174 if you wanted :)).
Hope that helps!
Yessss, they arrived 😊😁
Yay!!! :D
I love messing around and making new blender pens. I made one using odorless mineral spirits, zestit, meltz, sandsador and a few other different blender solvents.
All excellent ideas!! I wish we could gets ZestIt here in Canada but, alas, we can't. Ah well. :)
I’m very happy for you and these look great!
Thank you!! :)
Stayed till the end. Nice new colours
Excellent! :)
Hi Connie! You got them for a really good price! Germany is my neighbor, but i have to pay more than you did. Good job! Yes! I stayed to the end! 😅
I did get them for a good price - I was lucky! :) Glad you liked it - and stayed until the end! :)
@@colouringchemist 😊
Great video! Your excited "hee hee" was so fun! If you like muted colors, check out Castle Arts new Harmonious pencils. They are waxy pencils and the colors are gorgeous
Thanks so much, Becky! :)
I saw the 60 set of Faber-Castell Pitt Pens currently going for $150.55 on the Amazon US website. I saw this same set going for $260.00 on the Faber-Castell US website, because it is titled, Pitt Artist Pen, Brush - Studio Gift Box of 60. I have noticed when companies put their products in a gift box, say it is in a gift box or a wooden box, they charge way more for the art supplies than I feel they should be charged to begin with.
Amazon prices do tend to be all over the place - and gift boxes can increase the price by quite a bit. Very true! :)
I have some empty marabou pens that I fill with Gamsol works like a charm.
Great idea! :)
perfect Connie!!love your excitement! got me going as well!! you need to check out the Castle Arts Harmonious set....I think you would like it!! fills lots of holes...check out the Castle Art sight!! thank you !!
I've got the Harmonious pencils on order. :) I've never been a big fan of the feel of Castle Arts pencils - I find them difficult to get a decent colour payout - but the colour palette of that set is gorgeous! :)
@@colouringchemist I thought of you when I saw it...and yes I agree about the regular CA pencils but do enjoy the Golds. I love these colors so much. I do think they will be a learning curve for me. I downloaded the free coloring book and will attempt the cover of the tin.😁
@@bethbrady8146 Have fun! :)
We have prime day here in Belgium soon, so I'm hoping these or the Pitt pens will be on sale then. Fingers crossed!
Crossing my fingers for you, too! :)
Connie, your chemistry teacher is showing. LOL
I couldn't get her to be quiet and hide under a rock even if I tried!! :D ;)
I've never gone to Germany but my sister has and she's visited an actual Steadtler shop and Faber Castell shop. Maybe I should be glad I wasn't there because I cannot be held accountable for what I would spend lol.
I hear ya!! :)
Connie, on the Faber Castell website the Pitt big brush pens are being offered right now for 50% off or three dollars a pen. In addition to that there is a code at the top of the page that gives an additional 25% off your order. I ordered all that were available. It is a close out sale. I thought you or some of your viewers might like to take advantage of the sale.
Thank you for the info about the German Amazon site, my new colors are on the way!
If this notice of the FC sale is inappropriate please remove this,
Thanks for all the fun!!😊
Not inappropriate at all - thank you!! :) I've got all the colours that they still have left but I might grab a few spares of colours that I use a lot. :) Thanks for the heads-up!
Hi Connie, I just recieved the blending solution, have loaded up an empty Copic to try it once it’s all soaked in
Cool! Let me know how it works out! :)
200.00 for pens, which you already had a good bit of??? Hmm. Well, I just gotta tell you you're my kind of color-loving artist.
I know - the price right now on Amazon UK is crazy. :) I didn't pay that much for the 60 count set - I managed to get a really good deal when I pre-ordered. I did still spend a good chunk of money for - you're right :) - 24 new colours plus 36 colours I already own. It's ok, though - I'm always needing backup colours. :)
Thanks for chiming in!
I wonder if that blending solution would work great with the inktense pencils 🤔. My 60 set is underway too. Looking forward to create my combined swatch chart of these with the Pitt pens. I don't think I'll ever need regular water-based markers anymore. There's also the pantone ones now with similar ink, which I want to try the ink of once there is some sale, and I'm planning to use those liner pens with. 🎉
Pulling out some Inktense, Museum Aquarelles, and Supracolors to test... Yup - works! :)
I've looked at the Pantone markers before but I'm a little confused at the wording they use. I don't see the phrase "India ink" or the phrase "pigment-based" anywhere - I only see "pigmented". I wonder if they're using that word to mean their inks are pigment-based or if they just mean the inks are highly coloured. Hmmmm... Do you know of anywhere where they specifically state that the Pantone marker inks are pigment-based, Dieter?
@@colouringchemist my comment disappears every time if I put the link in it. it's in the fact sheet that can be downloaded from their page on the ink bottles
@@DieterPrivate Ah - thanks, Dieter! I know - if anyone but the channel owner tries to post a link in a comment, UA-cam automatically deletes it. I've had it happen to me on other channels. :) That green set looks gorgeous - but I'll definitely wait for a sale. :)
@@colouringchemist I totally understand. They are very expensive. I'm also waiting on a sale.
I was in Staples and saw a 12 pack of these new pigment brush pens and got them cuz of you. I was surprised at how firm the nibs are. Since they are called brush pens I thought they would move more. Also, I swatched them in an Amazon paper swatch book I have and they totally ghosted on the other side. The package says they don't...is that only on good paper?
I've used them in a colouring book, and they did not have any ghosting, but I did just test them on printer paper and there was ghosting. The thickness of the paper must be a factor. Amazon paper is even thinner than standard printer paper, so I'm not surprised it had ghosting.
There are four types of nibs for these pens. The pigment brushes have firm brush nibs, but there is also a soft nibbed version - although the colour availability is much reduced.
I watched another review of the Staedtler and they went through amazon paper as well. The pitt do not. The staedtler do blend easier and will tip to tip blend. The Pitt won't. So they are not exactly the same thing, just similar. Obviously Staedtler added something to increase flow.. which is either good or bad depending on what you intend to color on.
I think paper definitely matters, Veronica. :) Amazon-print paper has gotten so thin that almost everything ghosts through to the other side. Luckily, most Create Space printed books are only printed on one side. :)
The nibs on the pens do start out firm but they'll relax a bit as you use them. They won't ever be as soft as an actual brush, though. It is a bit of a learning curve when you first start to colour with them. :) I hope you enjoy them!
All very true, Bastion - thanks for chiming in! :)
There are definitely some differences between the two pens, waymire - thanks for chiming in! :)
Hi I stayed to the end. Please do not take offense Connie. I wish you coloring simplicity. 😉😆
Thanks for staying until the end! :) And no offence taken at all. :)
Ooooo….I haven’t watched yet but I’m hoping you tell us the price for shipping to Canada!!!
I think I did mention it in the video. :) It's around $20-$25 USD to ship (which is spendy in Canadian dollars!) but I got an excellent pre-order price on the pen set itself so I figured it was worth it for me. :)
@@colouringchemist you did!! I’ve got them in my cart right now…ugh…I want them so bad!
@@Ninjamom_colours Wait for Prime Day - you might get a better price then. :)
Have you sourced IRL lightfast tests of either product? If not I would suggest doing your own just to be sure. I know from too much experience that manufacturers often don't tell the whole truth with their ratings and claims, and there really is no point to paying so much more for either of these products if they aren't actually lightfast. The only other positive reasons I have used the Pitt's in the past are size, and the fact that they are waterproof.. I used the beautiful grey set for grisaille under watercolor quite a lot.
I haven't delved too deeply. :) Because I only ever colour in books, I'm never too worried about lightfastness. I agree, though - if anyone is planning on using them for art work that they're going to display and/or sell, lightfastness is much more important.
For me, the main benefits of colouring with the Pitt Pens and the Staedtler pens is the pigment-based ink. It's so much more rich-looking than dye-based inks and it seems to stay on the surface of (most) papers long enough for me to blend directly on the paper. The waterproof-once-dry aspect is also fantastic. :)
I received my set as well but instead of Ivory received light peach, which already existed in the 36 set. Very disappointing for the $$$
Oh no! That would be disappointing. :( Did you try contacting Amazon to see if they would do a refund or send you a different set in exchange? You never know - they might. :) It would be disappointing, though - and it's can be a pain to have to go through the return process.
Hope you can enjoy the other colours!
😂 Nice 👍
Glad you liked it! :)
Are you having fun? Teasing us to death when will they be here in Canada?
January 2025! That is so far away......Anyways, thank you.
After though.
By the way, I have a Koi Brush Pen that is water-based dyestuff ink, it is not perfect but ok. I also tried the Tombow blender, and it was not too bad but you have to be fast before the paper drinks it all, I tried the homemade solution for the Tombow empty pen, again not bad but worse than the other ones a blender for these pens is certainly the best but in the meantime, I try what I can.
Hey chemistry teacher.......You can come with something........
Thanks for chiming in! :) And I know - waiting for an exciting new product can be hard! :)
You never know when I might do some more experimenting. ;) :)
