I can't tell you how much I enjoy watching all of your creativity at work. You are amazing at what you do and I really appreciate you sharing your talents and skills and helping those of us that don't have quite the same creative mind.... Also, the Casey Kasem-esque voice takes me back to my childhood with America's Top 40 every Sunday night, lol. Thanks for sharing, keep up the amazing work!
Easy & looks great...another great hint...if you need rivets, & you'll be painting your item, plastic googly eyes make awesome looking rivets once painted over.
I've used upholstery tacks to achieve this for a long time. If it's in foam, I'll use wire cutter to nip off part of the tack, and just superglue the tack in place. Works great to cover up mistakes.
In the first Avengers film all the bolt heads in the main room and a few others of the Helicarrier were made similarly. A two part pourable epoxy was used in much larger molds for mass production. Bonus fact: The window where the pilot sits was a custom 3 inch thick acrylic piece with a seamless curve made by a company that makes aquarium glass.
Just recieved my shoretrooper helmet sticker from your etsy store to finish my helmet build. Well packaged and fast shipping, but the best part. A free Van Oaks sticker came with it to dress up my laptop. Keep up the best content on YT. We appreciate you.
The wife and I are working on making some of these for future projects! Words could never state how talented you are we LOVE your You Tube Channel! Bob and Debbie in Oregon!
Great tip! I wish I knew this before I 3D printed 50 fake bolts lol. And I wasn't familiar with surebonder before this - they have some interesting stuff! We use a lot of hot glue at our Escape Room.
That’s so awesome! I just recently made a similar mold to use up extra resin when I’m casting things! A surplus stash of cosmetic hardware is always helpful!!!
I found if you blow across the surface of the mold bubbles will also rise, maybe because I am creating a low pressure area there like a vacuum pump would?
Oh man after making a silicone mold why not use the cheapest, bargain basement resin? Hot glue always sags, distorts, moves around in the hot/cold storage cycles.

Those look great. I can use the same technique for toy parts. Cheers
Definitely!

Yesss!! I keep my silicone molds close by for overpours and make easy hardware
Thats a cool technique, thank you for sharing!
You bet!
I love this. I make a lot of mixed media projects so this is perfect. I’m already addicted to surebonder cosplay sticks lol
They're awesome. The fact that they have resin in them makes them perfect for this application and others like it.
I dig the new music!
Once I figured this tip out I didn’t need to buy those plastic nuts and bolts to chop from lowes 😅. This is a great tip
This is such a great tip!! This is giving me so many ideas now!
It doesn't get easier than hot glue!
This is great if you are making Medieval doors and need some cheap clavos, or fake bolts.
Definitely!
Great video! You continue to motivate me to try new things!
Sneaky and effective. Win!
What an excellent trick!
wow another very cool project!!!!!
Thanks for watching
Cant lie. I use a lot of glue sticks and now am obsessing on the options on that website!
❤totally brilliant
Thanks so much!
I found if you blow across the surface of the mold bubbles will also rise, maybe because I am creating a low pressure area there like a vacuum pump would?
I'll have to give that a try!
so cool
Great video, thanks!
A quick mold option is 100% silicone caulk and dish soap.
Dish soap? Is that used to keep the silicone from sticking to the item?
Hi derek with all these great videos do you have one of your yard with the Halloween set as would love to see full set think it would be great sir
Yes I do. If you look back a few years on my channel you’ll see a video of it.
Brilliant.
fantastic method, thank you
These look great!
Very cool!
Oh so easy! Thanks!!
You are so welcome!
Would it be less expensive to use silicone caulk to make the mold?
It’s not the same, unfortunately.
That is so cool.
GREAT idea!!!
Good stuff.
Are these just for detailing? I'm trying to understand what these are for.
That’s correct.
Great idea, thanks for sharing 💀👻🎃
Great ideal and real hardware is so heavy this way cuts down on the weight of whatever you are making.
Totally agree
Oh man after making a silicone mold why not use the cheapest, bargain basement resin? Hot glue always sags, distorts, moves around in the hot/cold storage cycles.
This one doesn’t. It’s softening point is 190 and is resin based. It’s literally the best of both worlds.
@@VanOaksProps ohhh cool, I'm gonna look it up now!
I'm wondering have you ever made a magician's props before, I'm a professional magician and always looking for someone to help me build a prop
I haven’t, but there’s a first time for everything.
