OMG THANK YOU! I wasn't sure if you could mix-match glue guns and glue stick brands-and you showed that you were using the surebonder gun with adtech glue sticks!!! yay for acid free hot glue! Fantastic video overall.
If you read the manufacturers website, they'll sometimes say not to use a different brand. But I think it's because they want you to buy their own product and because they can't guarantee another company's product will work well in their product.
Fortunately, I've never had an issue mix-matching glue gun and glue sticks, so I just go with whatever glue stick I want! Glad I was able to help! 😄

I have the Surebonder Plus dual temp DT270F. I am almost ready to get rid of it. It does not work well at either temperature. The tip loses heat so quickly that the glue can clog at the nozzle while being hot at the heating element. Finally, it jammed when the feed glue stick started melting while the tip was too cool.
Ah, I'm sorry to hear that! I wonder if there's a way to contact Surebonder and see if they would replace or refund if it's not too old.
@@CraftersAutonomous What is worse is that it is Underwriters Laboratory approved.
@@myeflatley1150 It almost sounds like the glue gun might have been defective. I hope you are able to get them to refund or replace it!

Does the glue get backed up in the nozzle part ?
How long did it last ?
This glue gun has been really great about not getting backed up! My previous glue gun was constantly clogging and that's what prompted me to buy a new one.
As far as how long it's lasted, it technically still works. But I dropped it a couple months after I got it and when it hit the ground the fine tip of the nozzle got pushed inside. So it's harder to use because I don't have the fine point sticking out, but that's my fault for dropping it. Although I guess the counter argument is dropping it 2 feet onto carpet shouldn't have ruined the fine tip nozzle, but then again it's not an expensive glue gun. 😅
Mine is oozing glue from the sides. What a mess. And I bought the gun and glue sticks at the same time, and barely use the thing. Why is doing that?
Oh no!!! Have you reached out to surebonder? It sounds like something jammed inside the gun. Hopefully they'd be able to replace it since it sounds defective?
@@CraftersAutonomous Thank you, but I bought it off Amazon about 2 years ago. I'm just gonna take it apart and clean it. The glue sticks might be too big, but that was the size it said to use. I'm confused lol. 😅

Haha, it's so funny the little quirks that come through in my videos 😂 It's either talk like I'm giving a speech which sounds so forced, talk in my normal voice which sounds boring, or try to talk with pep - which ends up sometimes with goofy inflections! Thanks for watching.

I bought a Sure Bonder that lasted all of about a month. Threw it in the trash.

The Surebonder High Temp Corded Detail Tip Mini Hot Glue Gun has many great features which you have nicely described, but I can NOT RECOMMEND this tool because of two glaring faults: it`s TRIGGER IS PATHETIC. The length-of-pull is, at best, 3/4 of an inch, which only produces a 3-3/12 inch hardly-controllable line, which is too short for my work. Besides that, it`s grip handle is too short, causing my little finger (on grip hand) to block the trigger at the end of the squeeze. (FYI: My hands are not large.) This second design fault causes this mini hot glue gun to be HARD TO CONTROL for any lengthy detail line work. So, unless you only need small 'beads' of hot glue per squeeze, this tool just might disappoint you, too.....
Great feedback! Personally, I was okay with those issues because of the price point, but it's definitely something to consider. Have you found a glue gun you prefer?
@@CraftersAutonomous For all my fine line work, I now use Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive, in a 4 oz bottle with a detail tip. It`s line is controllable at any length I need it to be. After drying, I can come back & fill any spaces between these 'boundry lines' with my Surebonder Full Size Dual Temp Corded Hot Glue Gun, which has a (GOOD trigger squeeze) that is predictable & controllable. As you know, glues/adhesives look 'full' when first applied, but dry flat or 'cratered.' Hot glues remain plump & full when dry, which my work demands. Have a great crafting season !
Sorry this wasn't helpful at all, I'm a first time user of glue gun I wanted to know how to use it.
This video was geared more to show the strengths and weaknesses of this particular glue gun versus teach how to use glue guns in general. But fortunately, they are fairly easy to get the hang of! The glue sticks feed in the back, and you just add new sticks as they melt to glue your projects together. To release the glue, just pull the trigger.
