Our grandma from Memphis always told us, "Make your bed while it's still warm." She'd concur with Adm. McRaven.
Oh my goodness John! Maybe this is a Memphis or a southern thing or maybe we're cousins. :) When I originally heard his speech at Texas, I thought of my grandma. I used to think it was so boring and mundane when I'd ask what did you do today, and she would always start with "I got up and I made my bed." Many many decades later and I still find myself having a bad day, and think, I didn't make my bed this morning. God bless grandmothers!
Make your bed while it is still warm, so the bed mites can multiply in a warm ecosystem. Sounds logical.

Admiral Mcraven wasn't fired. He retired when he reached the mandatory retirement age of 60.

Russell Littler if you can't take a man like this seriously then there is no hope for the future of our nation. These people are men and women with faults and gifts all need to be acknowledged, respected and not disregarded.
"He trusts James Comey implicitly", and I agree that a man can be forgiven for being "taken in", or even for being a bad judge of character, but there is no excuse for corruption, sedition, and possibly treason against the US on Comey's part. The quicker that man is brought to justice the better.
Russell Littler that's not on Admiral Mcraven. I don't know too much about what's going on with FMR Director Comey or the FBI because not much information is available yet that is confirmed. I just know that from my experience when you endorse someone it's a form of trust and you trust the man or woman record prior too and hope they don't prove unworthy of it and most of the time that trust is paid off in performance and morality but there quite a few examples of people being trusted to do a job that have fallen short or have abused the trust given to them.
All I can say at this point is that, if the Admiral is a decent man, then he ought to think about distancing himself from James Comey.
Russell Littler as a friend would you do that to a friend especially a life long one I couldn't do that. I wouldn't give my friend a free pass but I would help rectify his mistake besides Admiral Mcraven is in education now and not in politics he doesn't have to do any of that.
