I thought I was being reckless by shaving my 2 month growth (that also can't nearly compare to this) without using the clippers first. Just goes to show what safety razors are capable of! Thank you for the content.
It is always fascinating to watch guys shave their beard. It is like unveiling what they really look like. If they will look 10 years younger, if they look better without it, if they look like they lost weight when the beard is gone and if a little bit beard is really needed for them to have an appeal. You sir looks younger without beard~ From viking to gladiator~
Great video man! Im 19 and just ordered my first safety razor and I cant wait. I have super sensitive skin so the cartridges make my skin very unhappy. Not very many long duration vids i could find w a safety razor. Thanks again 👌🏻👌🏻
I never understood why people like shaving months long beards directly with any razor, as opposed to trimming it first... Is this what safety razors are built for? No. Is there any chance the soap reaches the skin properly? No. Having said that, this was a great video and it looks like a good shave! Well done!
Nice video, those safety razors look really great. The cool thing about using them or a straight razor is that you can let your beard grow and then shave at any time without having to worry about the hair being too long or thick, like you would if shaving with a cartridge razor. Cartridges work really great but they are designed only for shaving medium to short stubble, so you always have to trim the hair down first and sometimes that can be annoying when you just want to shave. It can be fun doing a long beard shave like you just did, however doing so does indeed take a lot more time and effort, it's also very messy with all the long hair caked in shaving lather coming off and dropping into the sink. So if you have a lot of time and want to enjoy your shave you can do it like you did in this video. But If you have other things to get to then it's much easier to simply trim that long beard all the way down with a pair of clippers first. Because you can have it down to short stubble in two minutes or less. Then lather up and shave that stubble with a cartridge razor in another three or four minutes and be all done, a lot less time and effort. Also cleaning up dry hair out of the sink after trimming is a lot easier than scooping up wet hair caked in lather, so it makes cleanup easier if you trim first. Great video, I think you look really good with and without the beard, thanks for sharing with us all.
Sledhead your beard is epic though it’s inspiring ! Shame your shaving it off is ember shave off my beard 😂 unless it’s a screwup and even then I’d rock a goatee
i have been struggling to shave my 1 week old beard with a safety razor since i am newbie to traditional shaving. this gave me inspiration and motivation. is your safety razor agressive just like your blade?
A little tip, try and focus on the angle when you are shaving. I'm sure there is plenty of videos here on UA-cam that would cover this! Also use small repeating strokes and examine the direction your hair is growing so you always shave with the grain. My hairs on the neck grows in a lot og different directions so I would get razor burn until I starter paying more attention to the direction on my hairs, good luck shaving!
Sledhead 👍 I’ve been clean shaven for two decades, but started to grow mustache and beard during this stay home requirement. After a week, I couldn’t stand it, and the whiskers just made me look old. Anyway, all the best to you!
good job. I have a six week beard I'm gonna shave off this week. Good tutorial because I'm expecting a new safety razor and blades to arrive this week.
I've been using a DE for years but somehow never realized it could take off long hair like this... Ive always used my Wahl to "lawn-mow" it down to stubble then gone in with the razor.
I'm a cartridge razor user and I can attest to the fact that they clog easily and it would be a huge pain in the neck to shave off anything that's over 1 wees growth with a cartridge razor. For shaving off a beard like this guy's, you have two options, a safety razor or a straight razor. Both of those would knock that beard down depending on the razor and the blades chosen. Cartridge razors are good for head shaving though, you don't have to be that careful to maintain the angles with a cartridge razor and they can knock out a few days growth fairly quick on both the head and the face. I would suggest a Dorco pace 6 plus for a decent cartridge razor you can buy for a fairly low price on amazon and the blades for it are fairly inexpensive too. Not nearly as cheap as safety razor blades though.
Straight razors are the best in removing long hair. When I don't have to shave for like two weeks I first do a quick shave with a cheap plastic straight razor to remove the bulks and then use my king c gillete safety razor like I do normally every couple of days.
Nice one, but if I have to remove 6 months of growth I would do the first pass with a Straight, Shavette or Electric clippers if I have them on hand. Because I would not have the patience with a DE for this.
I've only shaved my beard off twice (briefly) in the last 40 years. It's much easier to use a set of electric clippers like Wahl to trim the beard close before shaving with a razor. I use the Wahl clippers I purchased 25 years ago to trim my hair and my beard...1/4" on my head and 1" on my beard. It works beautifully.

DE is such a good value! I have been using Feather blades, have yet to find anything sharper! Can go against the grain with minimal pressure after days of not shaving!
It is great to see you. Sorry I haven't gotten to this sooner. Been busy with school. How are you doing? The weather is getting better here. Nice shave but it is you and your life is y I watch. Till I see you again be happy and stay strong.
I have a lot of trouble even shaving one-week-stubble with a DE razor... Edit: I have realized that it's simply because the gap doesn't go big enough on mine.
This must feel very satisfying. I guess my Yaqi doc slant could do this as well, as it is as aggressive or even more aggressive. But I 'm just too impatient to let it grow for so long...

use a shave creme with a high fat content.( spray canned cremes do not cut it)

Use a gentle hand, do not force or drag the blade, let gravity do the work.
try to never shave over any skin not lathered.
( just re apply if needed)
keep skin taut,
once completed, rinse face with cold water, pat dry, don’t rub.
apply a quality after shave balm, try to steer away from skin bracer type liquids.( they dry the skin) nivea makes a great one to start with.
