Ginny also suffers from the movies' downgrading of the entire Weasley clan. In The Order of the Phoenix, when we first meet Luna, it is Ginny who introduces her, because she is in Ginny's year (and because Ginny is the only person who is not mean to Luna). Hermione and Ron are not even present as they are doing their Prefect duties while Harry and Ginny are looking for a carriage on the Hogwarts Express. Meanwhile, in the movie, Ginny isn't even present when Hermione, who would have no reason to know Luna, introduces Luna to Harry, Ron and Neville..
The idea that Thestrals eat meat always struck me as being patently absurd. A large animal that can't be seen by most humans that eats meat could easily chose to prey on humans. It makes far more sense to give them a diet similar to any other mega bat, fruits, various vegetable mater, insects, and the occasional small mammal.
Regarding Harry + Ginny, even reading the books that came as a surprise to me, as did Hermione and Ron. I was surprised and disappointed when Harry didn't get together with Hermione.
I’d personally argue it was JK herself who ruined Ginny. She basically needed her only for the CoS, after which it looks like she didn’t know what to do with Ginny at all. Nevertheless, Harry and Ginny is NOT a good pair. This is the case of ‘better of as friends than lovers’. And NOT because of Ginny, but 💯 Harry She deserved better
Blame Kloves. He dropped Ginny and Ron in order to prop up his own idealized version of Hermione. And of course, the "perfect girl" had to get the hero of the story.
Awesome as always thanks

Hopefully we'll see the real Ginny in the upcoming series on HBO!
