  • My grandmother used to make the most fantastic corn chowder when I was a kid. This is my attempt at duplicating her wonderful chowder.
I use simple ingredients as she would have. I've been making this version for as long as I remember. There really has never been a written recipe; I've always just added equal amounts of the two varieties of corn and varied the other ingredients until it looked right (I must have gotten that from my grandmother as some of her recipes say to "add flour until just right"). I do use a fair amount of salt pork, but you can use bacon if you can't get, or have, salt pork.
I apologize for the short section where the original video is missing. My camera has decided to sometimes look like it's recording when it's actually not. This was one of those times. I've replaced it with an animated slide presentation to help explain what I've done here.
As always, I ask you to please comment, like, subscribe, and maybe share a link on your social media if you like this video.

I love corn chowder. Especially the second day after the flavors have all blended. "Yummmy" is absolutely the right word!

Can this recipe be made in the crockpot?

If you mean, "could you dump the raw onions and potatoes in and cook them in a the crockpot and then add the other ingredients?", I guess you could. It would not taste the same though because the onions weren't caramelized, plus you'd still need to fry the salt pork. It doesn't seem like a time saver to me. Thanks for your comment.
