    I have to tell you that the K24 series engine is one of beauty, The engineers designed that engine with customers in mind to self service the machine....
    Another great video. Thank you for taking the time. People can eat off your car; it is so clean...

      I went to Honda dealership and bought the thermostat for $97. It was a bit of a tight spot to work with but I got it done. I found the top screw to be the most challenging. Be careful with not dropping any of the screws in the engine. Remember, ONLY use Honda certified thermostat.

    Currently live in another city so they’re trying to tax 350+ for labor and part 🤦🏻‍♀️ at this point gonna do it myself. I did believe they said it was clogged tho if I replace it and follow this video does it being clogged change anything or I will be good to follow this video and the gasket I need to replace too it, doesn’t overheat all the time It reported it to the system that the engine was overheating due to it being so hot. I had got it checked out and he said it recorded it and just recommend I replace gasket as well.. and thermostat. Also engine light is showing. goes away and comes back the car is parked currently so it went away they’re still saying I should fix the catalytic converter as well. Should I after just see how it runs with the thermostat/gasket fixed first or replace both.

    Good video. I'm interested to know why it needed changed, Was it sticking open or closed and what were the symptoms.

    • @NutzAboutBolts
      @NutzAboutBolts  9 років тому

      donaldo1954 we were doing this video just to demonstrate how to replace it. But if you have a thermostat that is stucked closed, it'll cause the vehicle to overheat. If its stucked open, it'll run colder than normal and will set the check engine light. It can also cause poor fuel mileage and heater to blow cool air. I hope this helps.

    • @angaganga100
      @angaganga100 6 років тому

      The heater will blow cold air you say, if stuck open? So assuming the engine is normal running temperature, is this still the case?
      My bottom radiator hose is permanently cold. I assume thats thermostat problem. but the heater also blows cold air inside the car. Not welcome in Ireland! Is it possible then I have two problems to sort?

      Yes, the radiator fans are working when I turn on the AC, the heather was not working properly but when the vehicle started driving, the heater started to work again blowing hot air to the cabin. Anyways, I'm going to replace the thermostat tomorrow. I know for sure that that I saw that water boiling sending that hot water causing over flow in the accessories reservoir bottle. Anyways thanks I will keep you informed if I need some more help, great videos by the way, thanks

      when you turn on your A/C, that's not the radiator fan, that's the condenser fan. The radiator fan is the one that attaches to the radiator, which will turn on when the engine gets too hot.

    first issue i had was that the heater control valve broke. The center screw came right off and started leaking coolant and overheated the car.
    I replaced it and test drove it but i noticed the temp gauge was going up and assumed the thermostat stood closed since it overheated, i also replaced the thermostat. I test drove it and again it started over heating at this point i check the radiator and i noticed a small leak from one of the plugs in the bottom. i replaced the radiator and again overheating issues. the fans work. the thermosensor works too. any suggestions?

    • @NutzAboutBolts
      @NutzAboutBolts  7 років тому

      I believe this procedure is the same on the tsx. For your heating problems, it would be an HVAC problem. The thermostat regulate the engine coolant and if your engine is running fine but your HVAC on your vehicle is being weird, its probably just the HVAC problem and you might want to diagnose that.

      Nice...Man if its your tstat, it would cause the temp gauge to be in the Hot position, check your coolant temp sensor if its working. As for the egg smell, yeah it can be caused by the exhaust. You should get your exhaust system checked out with a smoke detector so they can see if there is a leak in the exhaust system.

      There's a full list if you google it and the only way to know what the check engine light is by using an OBD2 scanner. You won't know what the problem is without knowing what that check engine light is for. A check engine light can be caused by a lot of reasons, electrical, mechanical, engine problems, sensors, and too much to list. Go get yourself a scanner and plug it in and check what the code number is.

    when, how often & why change the thermostat...

    • @NutzAboutBolts
      @NutzAboutBolts  8 років тому +1

      +Npetzold Npetzold you change it out when you change the water pump out. over time the thermostat will wear down and break, so you want to change it before it does. The thermostat helps the engine warm up and when its at the right temperature, it opens the valve and let hot coolant out of the engine and through the radiator to cool down. If its either stuck open the engine won't heat up properly and if its stuck closed, the engine will over heat and gets damage. It's best to change it when you change the water pump as well.

      +NutzAboutBolts so the follow up question is... When do you change the water pump? My car is at 153,000 miles.

      +NutzAboutBolts yikes!!! Looks like I gotta start saving my quarters for both water pump & thermostat. I was gunna do the coolant flush now.. But I think I'll wait till I get those done first.
