I big tip I have found is usually after a bike layover is the throttle and grip will move. This causes the end of the grip to rub on the end of the handle bar. This will cause a sticky throttle. Just loosen the throttle screws and slide just enough where the grip is just off the end of the bar.
Thanks your tip nailed the problem I had with an old CB750. I spent a lot of time trying to isolate the problem when the carb return spring seemed so strong.

This info is also just as handy on cruiser bikes that use throttle by cable, I found this every helpful after a handlebar replacement and noticed my throttle was really sticky when it hadn’t been before. Looks like I’ve got a weekend cleaning project ahead of me. 😎🤘 good video

Very helpful video got my first dirt bike just went out on the trails for the first time and my throttle stop working watched this video took it apart and found out the old owners never cleaned it and the cable snapped right were it hooked to the throttle joys of buying used 😅 thanks for the help

@@AaronsEnduro unfortunately it did not. For some reason I just have a slower plenum speed. I ended up taking the carb out. Next step is to fully clean it out and lube all the correct items and try again.

I'm having a different problem with this ssr70 so we replaced the cable cause it snapped so of you hold the gas then stop the grip won't stay but it will stay wide open I've hit s tree full throttle because of it. It's only and ssr70 but it has that problem a lot. Idk what it is. Like the cable or it going into the carb, do you hsve any ideas?
The sun finally came out so Me and my son took the bikes out as soon as we take off his throttle locks up and he took off full speed so he hit the switch and the brake and fell down. I went on you tube something told me to hit your video then bam quick fix we are back in action…. Thanks my guy
If your bike falls over onto the throttle (right side) then most likely you just need to loosen the 2 screws and move the throttle tube out a little. It gets jammed in causing this sticking symptom.
I think Ill do this to my friends bike, the sticky throttle happened to him and he suffered a broken leg and ankle as a result, I definitely want to make sure the throttle is good before he uses it again

Did all the cleaning, and still my throttle binds like crazy. I hate the two cable system. 1993 Honda XR. Idk what to do now. Thought this would fix my problem
Did the cable move freely inside the casing if you disconnect it from the carb? If not, id say theres corrosion or debris inside the throttle tube , or possibly the throttle slide inside the carb is somehow sticking, so id inspect that for any binding. My first ideas anyways
The dual cable is a pain. Mine has a dual cable plus the pin so had to screw holes into new handlebars. Now throttle sticks when was perfect before. Unsure what to do.

My favourite thing to use a product called jiggalube. Its an ultra light lubricant

Important note: Some throttle/killswitch housings have a pin that has to fit a notch in the handlebar for it to be secure.

The cable slides sideways out of the white throttle tube casing . If your cable is twisted it will bind and not want to come out.

My bike idles high when I turn my handle bars
you probably have the throttle cable routed wrong and its pulling the throttle open when you turn
