My granddaughter and I started crocheting 6 months ago. We want to do a year-long project for 2025, but don’t want a huge blanket. Your video is very helpful to me, I sent it to her too 😊 Thank you ☺️
That’s a great idea. I wish I’d done this with my youngest nephew. I actually learned to crochet after he was born and he’s my second nephew to go with my two nieces.
A book blanket, make a granny square using the colours from the front cover of a book you've read. I've seen some of these online and seeing the square next to the photo is STUNNING
I love the idea of the scrap blanket. I’ve been contemplating on creating a stitch sampler blanket based on all the squares of new stitches I’ve learned over time.
I’m making my temperature blanket with granny hexagons this year! Each week will be one hexagon and each row will be one day, so there will be 8 rows per hexagon (one for each day of the week and one border row). There will be 53 hexagons altogether, and the first and last hexagons will have three filler rows (since the year starts and ends on a Wednesday). Can’t wait to get started!
I made a sermon blanket for my pastor. I started Dec 3, 2023 through July 28, 2024. I used the 7 categories of the books in the Bible, assigned a color to each, then kept notes on the passages used on Sunday morning and Sunday night. I stopped in July because it was over 6 feet and it gave me time to finish the border. I gave it to him for Christmas. He loved it. I used the brick stitch for the color and divided them with antique white for the "morter" part.
Hi Roz, I usually make historical temperature blankets and scarves for milestone birthdays. I live in Australia and I can easily download historiacal data from the Bureau of Meteorology website. I actually made two scarves showing the average daily maximum temperature for 1918 and the other dated 2018. This is a wallhanging to show if the temperatures have risen much over the last 100 years. I made this as part of the celebrations for the end of World War 1. (Note: you can easily see by loooking at the two scarves side by side the one for 2018 has lots more reds, pinks and yellows. Just love the idea of a temperature snake. Will make one for my granddaughter for the year of her birth. Thanks for all your tutorials Roz, just love them all.
What a unique idea, love it! Unfortunately, UA-cam has stripped the links. I’m assuming you added some since you mentioned comparing , but there is nothing here to view. 😕 If you have an instagram account, I’d love to see . ❤️
Excellent ideas, Roz! I made my granddaughter a blanket for her 2nd bday that had 12 solid squares and added an applique in each square for her first words and favorite things. It's a treasure.
I've made 2 temperature blankets for 2023 and 2024. A new stitch for every month. I also wrote the temps down for every other day. For me, it wasn't cumbersome at all. Sometimes, I was a month or 2 behind, but always caught up. This year I'm making a 2 round granny square and then join as I go. I am so excited for this new blanket!! I've never made a granny square blanket before!! Thank you for all the new suggestions for a temperature blanket. Happy New Year! ~ Tori🎉
Isn’t it so cute? I noticed on one of them, there’s an intermittent row that looks like bobbles. That would be a great way to represent the start of a new month! 🧶❤️
I have a scrap yarn blanket that I add to occasionally! Since it’s got so many random colors, weights, and textures I call it my Franken-Blanken. Get it? Frankenstein Blanket? Haha
Hi Roz…great ideas. I’m thinking maybe that mood blanket. I like the small squares. Have a great 2025 and thanks for your valuable contributions to our Crochet Community. Hugs❤️
🎉Happy New Year!! I am so still over joyed I found your channel. Your calm teaching has given me so much confidence to try new things. I appreciate all your time you share with us❤ thank you❤
I left a comment earlier but it disappeared😢😢. Wishing all of the crocheters around the world a happy new year🌎. Thank you Roz, for your videos and knowledge every week. Have a safe and healthy new year!💖
This is definitely not the kind of project I would make, but I just dropped by to say thank you for all the knowledge and ideas you have shared in your videos so far. Happy New Year! :)
Tous mes meilleurs voeux pour 2025 et merci pour tous vos genereux conseils quu m'ont permis de finaliser plusieurs projets. J'aime beaucoup vos videos pour leur qualite et aussi pour votre humour. Bonne c9ntinuation!! ❤
Thanks for all the great suggestions. I always love the idea of year-long projects (and crochet-a-longs etc) but never keep them up. I like the idea of the snake as I find amigurumi easier than crocheting rows, so might give that a go.
Great! 👏🏻 I was going to share about the emotional support chicken and how to work on it all year. But I was reading negative reviews on the pattern so held off. But I love the idea of a toy made to represent the year 🧶❤️
Thank you for explaining this. I am new to crocheting and knitting and, although I’ve heard the term “Temperature Blanket,” I had no idea what it meant. ❤
One suggestion a coworker made to me was a pregnancy blanket. A row per day while pregnant. Could be mood, temperature, symptoms, etc. Would be roughly a 9 month blanket instead of a year one so slightly smaller project. I was also thinking of a temperature shawl using crochet thread or fingering weight yarn to keep it's size reasonable.
Perfect!! 🤩 love that idea. If you decide on a shawl- there’s one during the scarf section I quickly showed. Search : Wyldflower temperature shawl. I’ll add a link in the description box soon as well. If I add it in the comments , sometimes UA-cam gets moody about it 💕
i made a temperature scarf this year!! the planning was to a temperature blanket but the yarn i chose was to expensive so i decided to do a scarf instead and i love it!!😊 the only thing i don‘t really like are my colors. because they‘re really bright so i don‘t know if i will wear the scarf often, but it‘s a great memory😊
Some great ideas. I am thinking of doing a throw with small squares or hexagons for the high n low temperatures in a birth year and gifting it as a present. Great channel. Thank you for all you do ❤ Wishing you and everyone a Happy Crafting New Year for 2025🎉
I'm making my first temperature blanket for 2025. The yarn was delivered just today! I'm going to do the moss stitch squares. They seem much more manageable than others I've seen. More than anything, I'm looking forward to sticking to it all year long. My attention span has seriously diminished and this blanket is my plan to help me regain my focus. 😊
Love it! It’s an excellent way to work on focusing. And may I just say , be kind to yourself when / if you lose focus. Don’t stop , it’s temporary and comes back. you’ll get so much reward from those wins. It’s going to be gorgeous! 👏🏻💕🎊🧶
Thank you for all of the wonderful ideas! I am leaning towards a scarf or a mood blanket! I appreciate all you do! Please give the kitties a pet for me! Happy New Year, take care....Cheryl
Hi Cheryl , the mood blanket was very easy to do so I do recommend it. 👏🏻 I’m thinking I’m going to do an affirmations blanket this year. I’ll share more about it if I do . Whatever the case, I hope you have a fun filled yarny 2025 🧶❤️
I like the idea of making a scarf instead of a blanket for 2025, I think I might actually do that, I was thinking of a blanket of granny squares or more interesting straight stitches than the single crochet stitches I've been doing for my 2024 blanket, I put it down for a while and am currently working through 'September', but playing catch-up is feeling really tedious because it's so wide, I love the size and I know I will feel good about it when it's finished, but getting there is just SO much work 😮💨
Happy new year to you Roz , Family and of course my boy Biscuit and the gang . I hope you had a great Xmas. I love these ideas especially the pillow and scarf. I've made a few blankets.in the past , but will work on a few pillows and scarfs for gifts . Have a blessed day ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ meows for the 🐈🐈🐈🐈
Wonderful, Angela ! I wasn’t going to do a year long project but after working on this video, I’m inspired . 😅 I will see how it goes . Big hugs from the gang and see you in the new year 😻😻😻😽😻😻
I've always thought temperature blankets were beautiful and so colorful (depending where you live!). I like the snake idea - my first thought was to make it to use as a draft stop - (cold Chicago winters), but also like the idea of an infinity scarf. Time to pick colors! Happy 2025 - thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
A draft stop , exactly! And with that thought - wouldn’t it be fun to take character and use its head then do a long body ? I’m thinking dog and cat . Make 4 amigurumi balls at the end of the year to replicate paws, it would be adorable 😆
I appreciate the dedication that goes into one of these, but some not all are ugly (that's my opinion). I am not one to crochet blankets anyway. S,I also feel that it would interfere with all the other stuff i enjoy crocheting.
Happy new year.....i go on to follow your videos because i like but...i was discouraged and realised i have no attitude to tricot and i dont do.....a pity for me but..... Ciao huges from italy my dear friend.
Hi Roz, Thanks for your reply. I do not have Instagram but I got the idea from Staci at Very Pink Knits - her tutorial on UA-cam is called the Tempestry Project and this gives you a good idea on how it looks. I have started my crochet snake and it is going well.
