Hello all, I'm doing a historical Temperature Blanket for our 50th Anniversary. We were married Dec.26,1975, so I got the temperatures for 1975 to 1976. The blanket will be a sampler one, with a new stitch each month which I love. This is my 2nd temperature blanket. However you do your blanket you will love it. It is alot of fun. My husband think that I'm doing a regular temperature blanket, not knowing it's for our 50th Anniversary.
I have been toying with doing a temperature blanket for awhile now. Maybe this will be the year!😁 Toni of TL Yarncraft has some neat ones she has done. Good success to you, Pamela!🤗💖
I crocheted a temperature blanket last year for my grandson of his birth year in 2016. I used DK yarn & the moss stitch & also crocheted a black row in between the months. I also added a very fine silver thread to the yarn for the male family birthdays & a very fine gold thread to the yarn for the female family birthdays. It made it a very special blanket for my grandson. It ended up just long enough to cover over the pillow on his single bed. 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨
I tried one several years back and it didn't last long. I changed it to basically a scrap blanket using up my scraps. It's not very big but it is plenty wide enough for my queen size bed. I'm using the Suzette stitch.
Oh my goodness! We live so close to each other!! Do you ever crochet in a club or group or anything? I’m fairly new to crocheting and I think it would be fun to have a crocheting club! Xoxo
That’s a pretty stitch. I’ve seen people go under a historical weather. Maybe a year of special meaning. That might be what you was talking about. Some do a monthly high so they are so big or weekly. I was thinking like the birth year of someone special. Like you was saying. This is a special year for you getting married ❤ Thank you for all you do and have a happy new year 🎉
I’m finishing a temperature blanket for this year. What I did was the high temperature only for every Monday of the year and I did white in between the colours.I’ll do a border around it. I’m gifting it to a family member. Have fun with it…I really enjoyed doing mine.🧶🤗❤️
Pamala 🙋🏼♀️ Could you post maybe how exactly we can find our local archive temperatures ? So we can go back years and locations? Because some of us like this girl here lol 😂 don’t understand anything about computer tech stuff on how and where to find this sort of info lol 🤪 Happy New Year! 🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊
I tried to do this a few years ago. I won't go into much detail except that each month would be a different stitch. Great concept that wasn't thought out that well, in my opinion. I quit about 5 months in with a disaster of a wonky blanket. Still have the yarn and wonky 1/3rd made blanket that needs frogged. One nice thing, yarn is still usable. Maybe I'll try your stitch, or even the granny block way. Good luck! I, too, think it would be really fun.
The stitch counts weren't coming out right. It was a cute idea, just wasn't thought out and there was no blocking and border that was going to really fix it. I've not done the herringbone half double stitch so this would be fun for that reason alone.
I did the same with a you tube created but she seemed to change the stitches after she monitized her channel and let those members decide the next stitches and really made the blanket very wonky. I changed to the granny stitch and restarted it over again.
Yes and does sound very familiar. I'm going to give Pamela's stitch a shot. It's rather a shame to have all the yarn still sitting in a bag. I was using a mixture of solid and multi color. It all coordinated really well.
I got my yarn chart & yarns put together today. Can’t wait to start. My yarns are in a plastic tub. Thinking about doing a different stitch for different weather of each day (ex. Rainy, Sunny, Cloudy, Snow, Sleet, etc). But not quite sure on that yet. Still have one more day to decide!!! Have fun!!!
I’ll try making a granny square a day I believe that would look beautiful at the end. I did a temperature blanket 2 years ago and I made a mistake making a continuous granny blanket. So many ends and it’s huge. I’m going to start weaving the ends in 2025. I’ll see how long it takes then I’ll be giving it away to a dear friend. 😊
Can you list the colors names of BT you are going to use? It would be so helpful and to get some colors we don’t have while it’s on sale at Joann’s. Excited to try this!
Thinking about doing one but where I live our temperature changes very little. I would say July August and September everyday is the same. Hot. Perhaps leave those months out? Everyday would be the same. Any ideas?
Any time of day will work. Just check what your weather app or your weather on the news says that the high will be for that day. That is the range you will use.

Love your enthusiasm! I have never wanted to make a temperature blanket until now. Sounds like fun. 🤗
Thanks so much for explaining the temp chart. Have always wanted to make one. Now I have no excuse. Lol❤❤❤
Hi Pamela! Rather than a temp blanket, I’m considering doing a “calendar” blanket for 2025. Looking forward to seeing your blanket.

Great colors ❤ think I’m going to start with a color that represents the start of each month so I can tell which month is which!

I thought about doing different stitches each month but then I was like no no way I’m just going to do one stitch and make it easy.
