Thanks Coolaxe- DW ! I'm very flattered, because I mixed this record by myself, and it was mastered by Simon Derasse, an english engineer living in France ;-)
Was about to go to sleep then this popped up in my UA-cam feed, now I'm wide awake with a smile on my face and about to listen to it again. Awesome musicianship from all members of the band.
Good instrumentalists, but the things that blow mind are their attention to details and calmness while playing; stage volume is always well-managed, and the whole band pays attention to dynamics and phrasing!
Nice performance of a good bass player, I like how the drums and the bass go together it gets me excited. This bass player got good skills, so talented right off the top.
Cool to see a bassist that isn’t being drowned out by other instruments. The guy is incredible. That was so sick it gave me stank face😆 Guitarist was amazing as well. He was killing it. Definitely inspiring. Love the way it all came together and how every musician added to the music. Everything was in sync.
It drives me CRAZY the degree of how often the bass is squashed in a mix. It does not matter WHAT style it is, it will never have this kind of punch, attack, and clarity. What's more, everyone always goes with that super squashed, super fundamentally overbearing "bass tone", but it never sounds like an actual instrument, more like a sine wave, if you hear it at all that is. It's always super quiet, no tone, no punch, sounds like its far away as if the whole band recorded live in the studio but the bass was in the bathroom down the hall.
Easy fix to cure and stop the bass lost in the mix. A dab of super glue on the guitarist volume knob on their amp does the trick! : ) Their always the main culprit to the problem, and the only ones who can never hear themselves yet their amp is right next to them? Kidding don't do the super glue trick. But I'm right! As far as your tone never sounding like the bass should sound. That's the difference in your gear also. That Warwick Bass Phillippe is playing to start with isn't your off the wall bass guitars at Guitar Center for 5 or 6 hundred dollars. Much less the rest of his gear.
Well it's funk so the bass will be given priority in the mix. Otherwise the tune wouldn't have any groove. If it was rock, they'd probably bury the poor guy in guitar and organ pedals.
@@kelwig8738 Thanks ! I don’t totality agree with you... 😉 watch the video “Mistreated” on my YT channel , it’s pure rock and the bass is mixed in the front too... and it works !😎
THE FUNK AND JAZZ FUNK IS LIKELY THE STYLE WHERE THE BASS PLAYER IS THE MOST RESPECTED AND LIKELY MOST REWARDED !!!! this bassist displays a superb presence and skills !!! I love bass guitar ! And did play bass ... I WD HAVE FOLLOWED BASS SOLO BY playing the “GOOD TIMES” MELODIC BASS OF BERNARD EDWARD few seconds and resume again on the track mode song 🥢🤣 “ emotional sequence hahaha !! “
Firts time I hear Philippe Gonnand. I only get to say AWESOME !!!! No way to be more funky than this. ! And....the guy is not a kid....but did you see his spirit ? jumping and enjoying !!!! like a boy with a new guitar ! Yes!!!!Yes !!!! that the way to get a long life..... enjoy what you do like this guy. Excellent ! You got a new fan. let me go to see more videos of this artist.

Never heard your music before !! Why I don't Know .. Totally outstanding, Groove, tone, mix and great musicians.. Thanks it won't be the last time i listen..
Now THIS is awesome. Shades, memories, and distant recollections of a scaled down version of Tower of Power, who I virtually worshipped as a beacon of Jazz Fusion. Does anybody have a nice glass of Redbreast over crushed ice with just a sprinkle of Seville Orange? N'est-ce-pas?
Nice chops & groove. Works so much better having a bass player utilising the whole band helping to achieve a better groove based solo other than everything stopping & every one other than us bass players going 'oh no not the dreaded bass solo.👏🙂
Super. Talent. 👍🏻
Abraham is one of my masters, and he's a friend too... he plays the bass on one song from my album "Multipass" , called "Feel this groove", you can listen to it on all digital plateforms.
Finally, somebody who makes the MEC pickups sound great, I knew they had it in them. Usually, on review videos, both from Warwick itself and others, the MEC pickups sound like pure SHIT and garbage, but here we have a master that takes it to another level.
Actually, he's probably the only bassist I've ever heard who's managed to make a Warwick bass soud good - and those things usually sound like dried elephant crap! Philippe, vous êtes un vrai maître!
Whomever mixed and or mastered this recording deserves a Grammy. This has to be one of the best 2 live recordings I have ever heard.

I'm completely blown away ! What a sound! Playing myself for 40+yr and I don't remember having heard any live recording this quality.
I can't stop grinning ear to ear... The groove stank is that good.....
I’m blown away by these guy’s musicianship!
This live mix is fantastic, beautifully mixed and mastered , sounds killer & Great playing !

No lie! These musicians are outrageous! I love that snare drum and wow what a magnificent recording!!!

Wow who in the world would give this a thumbs down? This is outstanding... what a great group of players...
This is my kind of bass playing!!! Love it.

Guitar player has the groove and what a horn section - in the pocket.
When a bass player starts strumming chords, just know that all bets are off...shits about to get popping. Great sound, great artistry, so much groove
Absolutely superb, could watch and listen to these guys all night. Really fabulous stuff.
OK everybody is kicking ass for sure but can we give a special shout out to that horn section!
