this particular song randomly entered my recommended's, introduced me to larnell lewis, then snarky puppy, .. and i'm really happy about that, .. leaving a comment of gratitude
That’s kinda how it happened for me. It was the opposite though. A snarky puppy track was recommended. That’s how I ended up getting put on Mr Lewis and SP.
@@deontraidamond2192 Yess almost the same story here, first saw Lingus like 3 years ago, then this one, then the whole world of jazz and jazz fusion
happened to me, but only because i've started to listen to some things from Brazil (i'm BR) like Bixiga70 and Nomade Orquestra.
you should listen to them!
Me too, found by accident, love this!
You guys were late to the party man!!
There's not enough battling synths these days. So good.
Does anyone know any similar examples of this style (of battling synths i mean)
I can’t get enough of this genre - the energy, the subtlety, the sophistication, the groove, the technique - it’s just too funking good
Wow people still play this way ... thank God for musicians. May their legacy leave on forever.
This is proof to the younger musicians that collaboration and playing with others help you grow musically.
One of the best parts of this video is seeing each component celebrate other components of mastery.
There's nothing more beautiful than the face of a Musician loving the act of playing music.
Omar De La Hoz. I get that same excitement when I playing the drums.
I am so agreeing. After the sheer joy of experiencing the music, the emotion and passion in their faces tell it all. It's almost what I look for now as a standard of true excellence. Are you loving what you are creating! Az good 'cause you are doing it so well. #nolifewithoutmusic
❤️
FACTS
Agree!
I love how Anthony enjoys the different solos of each musician, his face says it all, that's how music should always be.
The band is GREAT ! And Larnell Lewis blows my mind every time i see him ! He is one of the most interesting drummer i've seen recently ! He has also made a so F...IN' great job with Sarky Puppy
Larnell Lewis, a drummer so lethal they had to put him in his own room... good song by the way!
Or it's because he's black...
😂 good one we must contain the monster that is Larnell 😅
The breakdown into the little guitar solo is the bomb. Everyone isn’t playing to much, and then build back up. Very good balance
George Duke, Lenny White, Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Al Di Meola, Steve Gadd, Tower of Power, etc..., all rolled up into one in this terrific musical piece, all performed by young people that are such naturally fantastic musicians. Kudos...!
You're right, I forgot Chick, Lenny, Duke and Meola...of all things...thanks for bringing it back to me...I gotta get on the stick!
I loooove how the Hammond is supporting the other keys, but NEVER gets in the way. Thousands of clever, creative, and groovy-as-hell details, but not one too many! That's what I really admire in this music... Alright, let's listen to this for the 45th time :D
YO Viktor Volarić Horvat thanks a lot for the comments here man. Glad to hear all the attention to detail we put in is being recognized like this. Feels great to hear these things and thanks for checking it out. Another video is on the way!
I am in a seriously releationship with the replay button. \o/
Seriously - hit the replay fast.
Everything about this is amazing. The trumpet line, the piano battle, the drum solo, and the whole ensemble coming together in unison. 🙌
Had to come back here after 6 years and it's still so beautiful
I'm using this video to apply to the YamahaCanadaMusic "Yamaha Keys To The Junos" Contest! Thanks to everybody who has seen, shared, and commented on the video and subscribed to my channel! Hoping your support helps make this happen :)
Anthony I absolutely love your stuff. Who would you say are your influences for this type of playing?
MilkWasabi Hey thanks for checking this out! I'm influenced by a lot of different music that I guess lead to this tune getting written but I've been hugely influenced by soul/R&B/funk/Blues/Jazz. Artists like Stevie Wonder, and Ray Charles are a huge driving force in my playing and general musical taste but then more current bands like Snarky Puppy and Lettuce have influenced me by introducing me to some new sounds and instrumentations and a lot of that comes out in this tune. A lot of people have tried saying that this tune is just a Snarky Puppy rip off which I don't think is really fair. I'm not trying to hide the fact that they inspired me and my writing of this tune but I think it has it's own character and I owe a ton of credit to Robi Botos for playing on this because it was his playing that actually inspired the melody of this tune over 2 years ago now.
Anthony Brancati This tune is great, lots of nice melodies and harmonies going around (from 2:05 to 3:11 is just damn brilliant). I also made my keyboardists listen to this to 'steal' some cool licks hehe. I sense some Steely Dan influence as well? I don't believe this is a Snarky Puppy rip off, there were lots of fusion bands doing that kind of stuff for years, but Snarky Puppy is kinda the most popular one nowadays so it's the only one people have on their mind, and the one with which they compare. Also, Larnell's playing is easily identifiable. Congratulations.
+GoyoLake ok
+Anthony Brancati Amazing stuff, top class. Maybe it would have been beter to play something like a Yamaha ANX1?
obviously hired the right drummer 💜
looks like they hired "THE DRUMMER" actually
Mr GreenThumb more like the god of drums himself
listen to his one note samba cover
@@yamiah03 are you sure? He is considered one of the greatest, was the first drummer to be featured in Zillgan live, and is the drummer in Snarky Puppy, a Grammy award winning band.
@@yamiah03 sarcasm?
it helps me get into a groove when im about to play drums it's the best groove I've ever heard so far
Marcud Harris Awesome!
Hey brother! Make a more videos please!
This kind of music just screams of pure bliss and joy!
The rhythm guitarist (not the solo one) deserves more screen time, he's doing an awesome job
My ears are so happy right now.
Got larnell Lewis on the backbeat!! Can't get no better than this!! :)
everything he touches turns to gold
I saw Larnell Lewis in the title and I immediately clicked!
There are people who can play and those who are musicians. What I just watch was musicianship at its best. I'm a drummer and enjoy every aspect of music. But when you get a group of musicians together that are enjoying every note they contribute to a song, well that's just magic. I think you could put the sheet music away and just have a good ole jam session with amazing results. Really enjoyed it
Thanks for posting
P.S. the bass player didn't get enough camera time
This is what happens when you bring talented musicians in the same room. They do their thing, and create magic.
I don't understand why there are 1200's people who don't like this. please stop comparing, this one is actually great hey!
Because they don't know music ✊🏾
I've watched this video so many times, I never tire of it! So much talent in one room. I love seeing these guys perform together and react off of each other's musical expression. This is just good for the soul!
Had lessons from Larnell. Super musician, with a cool personality!
I'm not sure how I stumbled onto this song. I knew of Larnell Lewis from his performance on Lingus (Snarky Puppy) Outstanding!
I have watched this song I couldn't count how many times now. It's funky and cool, love the keyboards, horns, guitars, and of course Larnell on the drums.
Excellent song !! Love it.... Man oh Man I find myself back here proabably once every couple of weeks to re-listen to this masterpiece.
Good lord, the drummer's feel and groove is otherworldly
Larnell is killing it! This is by far my favorite piece of music. I absolutely love this.
The pocket in this song is so dense and deep it should have made a black hole. Kudos sir, you have made the jam to match all jams
The looks between artists like that at 5:15 is what we're missing in today's "popular" music. You can visibly see their interactions and how they play off of each other in their solos.
Those moments are what we do this for Brad Whittemore Glad to hear that you felt that the way we did. Cheers!
Beacause it's music by mucicians, not people who are acting on stage with some sientificaly-proof-good-investemnt-music by majors
shut the fuck up, brad.
Nice!
Sac
That look of pure joy on Anthony Brancati's face is priceless. He giggles as if he is about to bust a gut. So much fun! Timeless! Congrat's to all of you, Larnell (a beast!) and Robi ( soul brotha, lol was wearing it out!) I loved it! ~ J
I love this groove, the sound is clean and pristine it has good sound quality.
Nothing better than some musicians having a ton of fun and getting great results! 🤘🏻👍
Larnell straight up MURDERED his solo!
Daaaamn
Com certeza existe Brasileiro ouvindo musica boa, ainda mais um instrumental como esse. top top top
brasileiro e português
Pt aqui
sim!!!
com certeza
Esse e top dos top
I love so much how Anthony's face seems to say :holy **** i'm really playing this with those guys"
That is VERY accurate lol. We also only had one rehearsal with just some of the band the night before the session so the first time I heard it all come together was live while we were recording. I think my brain is still processing that feeling :)
@@anthonybrancati4475 that's amazing!! I learned it on the drums... Larnell is such a huuuge inspiration for me ! That song is groovy as butter lol!
My son played just the sound from 6:00 to 6:40 and asked me "Who do you think that drummer is?"
I got it right in one guess. . . Could ONLY be Larnell Lewis!
Outstanding!
Funk is still alive and funktioners never die....
beautiful
Pero madre mía willy que hacen aquí compañeros
Pero buenoooooooooo
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a trick to log back into an Instagram account??
I was dumb forgot my login password. I would love any help you can offer me
@Zayne Brayan Instablaster :)
spectacular!
excellent sound and musicians
I agree with you!
Legend has it....stank face is still being made to this very day
Lovely to see these guys smiling at some point during this and really enjoying their great music
Rumour has it that Larnell learned this entire song by only listening to the intro
Hahahahahaha true
:"DD
I suspect he was able to play it having never heard it AT ALL!😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Well if you recall, Davie504 knew to play the solo to Sultans of swing just from the first note :D
The dirty synth played at 3:54 was played with so much taste. It caught me off guard on my first listen. Had a total, "o fuk" moment.
THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO GO THIS HARD OH MY GOD
Can't think of a better feeling than assembling as a jazz ensemble and jamming.
This is what it means to give space to young people
A funk masterpiece played like this and a rare gem from Thunder Music Radio Web you will always have all our support
That double synth solo was so hard
Yoooooooooooooooooooooooo Dis is craaazzzyyyyy!! Looove the "simple complexity" of this piece!!! Uggggh love this so badly!! Every1 in this, deserves an award, I will not even begin to analyyzzze!! U guys are amazing!! *Total Music-gasm* Love it! *screams*
TIGHT FUSION ENSEMBLE PROJECT! BRAVO!
larnell lewis que groove impresionante,un mostro en la bateria,
sylar777 un fenómeno
Esta en Snarky Puppy ahora mismo.
I find that the nord keyboard musician has a incredible energy, just enjoying so much other people licks, beautiful, I enjoy with him!!! and want to see more of this!!!
9 years ago, and 10 million people before me listen to this insanely nice piece of music! Rhythm, bass, drums, jazz, funk, synth war, i love it!
oh my god where Have I been???
Haven't been this happy while listening to this since a long time.
Thank you for turning my 8x8 workspace into an absolute FUNKstation this afternoon...and yesterday afternoon as well. I had to come back to fully absorb it all. Killer musicians, and your all so young! Except Larnell. He's the only one that has an excuse for being sick!
Dan Taylor That's hilarious man! Thanks for making it a part of your day and keep an eye out for my next video to be coming soon! Glad to be bringing some funk into your world
Hahahahahha...! That's right, Larnell is just unique! Great performance
I love the keyboard showdown near the end.
Herrlich! Soviel Dynamik im Zwischenmenschlichen! Hammer abgeliefert
holy moly this is so yessing
oh my guysing watte frickery done doodele doky okay this is crazy
yessing
very cool...and great drums! This going to be fun as hell to play.... eyeing set now.... it's speaking to me.....funky time...gotta go!!
5:58 - that stank face you pull when the music just hit's you right.
Have you watched snarky puppy
:)
Great sound ;Great Groove ; Great musicians
Makes me want to listen to THE GREAT TOWER OF POWER!
drumtwo4seven why? In their wildest dreams they couldn't pull off this type of variety. Just because they were a brass band means zip when compared to this effort. Expand your horizons and listen more.
Phyllis Dexter
I disagree. TOP isnt a "brass band" they are TOP. Strange term or category label etc. The drumming here is boring much unlike David Garibaldi whose grooves I find creative challenging and inspiring.
How would you have any idea of what someone else listens to...
drumtwo4seven TOP is amazing but how can you say this drumming is boring? Have you not seen Larnell play with snarky puppy?
@@drumtwo4seven lol How can you say that this drumming is boring? Tou definitely don't know so much about music...
Lukather 123
Ok
Holy shit, we've got a Nord-off on our hands!
Son unos GENIOS, hermoso estilo de musica!!! Mis felicitaciones tienen un nuevo seguidor, de Argentina!! Dios los bendiga
So many cool details in this. I'm still looping 5:24 to hear the bass and feel the vibe of the trumpetist.
Como pode 1,3 mil não curtiram esse video ????? Só pode ser inveja !!!! se loko muuuuuuito bom
Pasan los años, y nunca me voy a cansar de esta obra maestra.
Holy shit! That was really fun to watch!!!!
Never heard such a key battle in funk before 🔥👍😎
Let's do another one Anthony :)
I'll bring my keytar too :)
Make it happen!!!
You really rocked this. I've seen this video tons of times. The harmony starting at 2:08...damn. Makes me smile and blush every time.
ROBI BOTOS Agreed! I keep waiting on a full length album!
ROBI BOTOS oh yeah
I'm literally listening to this one the whole day playing along lmao. Such brilliance!
Nice drum & bass
look at these talented people being happy at what they do... isnt it lovely?
Awesome stuff, some great musicians completely in their element
OMG I could listen to this all day this is so good
Show , não tem como não apreciar uma musica dessas !
Muito top✌️👌
Pior que tem... a maioria das pessoas n gostam. Música cheia de detalhes, melodia bem pensada, se encaixa perfeitamente com o ritmo.
ye.. betoi gak ckp hg tu wei.
Absolutely incredible job! So much talent in one room.
Fabulous. The very best jazz I've heard in a long, long time (and I do listen to a lot of bad shit!). Great musicians, with ENORMOUS ears which leads to this incredibly swinging synthesis. And the enthusiasm of these cats is contagious too. A hell of a party! Thanks for inviting me guys.
This is very good music. Someone shared this video with me today and I searched for you on iTunes but did not find any recordings available. Love all the keyboards! Great work.
that call and response thing from 1:36 to 2:06 the guitar player played was really creative. Simple, but musically powerful. He just inspired me for the next time I play a drum solo.
Ronald Macmaster a very laid back grove
Ronald Macmaster my favorite part in the whole song!! What a great range of dynamics from each part!
While I've been stuck working from home (and grateful to be working), I've been finding new (to me) music here, and lately I've been following Larnell Lewis around UA-cam, from video to video. This guy is amazing, and everyone he plays with is amazing, too. This is fantastic stuff!
Why am I just now seeing this 9 years later? This is epic!
indeed, im always coming back to it
My fav drummer is Larnell and fav pianist is robi botos... Best ones! Quality music... Its art
Batki Matthew larnell is a beast and so is robi but cory henry is my fav keyboardist
They're all proper musicians
This is the greatest thing I've watched on UA-cam in my life
Well, then You don't know Funk my friend. ;-)
u should get out of ur mums basement more often
@@brianmalik9383 that didn’t make sense. Maybe he’s only seen a handful of UA-cam vids.
@@ordinarypete jesus, another idiot.
God I love this style of music, it has so much soul and makes me want to groove with it. Thank you so much for sharing. I will be looking for you on Iheart Radio.
Hey Greg! Thanks for checking this out. Unfortunately you find this on Iheart Radio right now but you can certainly purchase this song @ anthonybrancati.bandcamp.com/releases if you are interested! Thanks
The Best! very talented musicians together working on an epic piece.
Very well played, indeed intelligently also well arranged, 3 keyboards doing excellence in this old new funky thrilling music!
Como faz pra curtir mais de uma vez? Bom demais!!!
Its such an amazing track, full of everything I play music for, energy, passion, fun! Super inspiring man, you rock!
6:36 when u realize u gradually created the same face as the drummer by the end of his solo
😂
Honestly i didnt like the solo at all. I felt like it didnt fit the flow/style of the song one bit. Got this real funky beat for like 95% of it and the solo just felt like here is how fast i can play. I guess not everyone is meant to like every piece of music
Man, so random I found this but MAN! This was incredible. I love watching EVERYONE just feel the absolute hell outta this. Super nice!
Anything with Larnell Lewis: Yes please thank you.
Espetacular ,muito show .
Muito bom,musicalidade incrível!!!!
Got a Mezzoforte-flashback sitting at the office :) Grooving like crazy, keep it up!
I would like to say thank you so much. This is such a great experience listening to your playing. I didn't realize I had finished 7 minutes long.
Wow! That was hot keys and drums!!!
Woow great! You sound like Snarky Puppy
