The way MMO monetization should be is just $5 to $10 per month; maybe $15, but the devs really need to justify it. People should not have to pay 50/75/100 dollars upfront; especially if the game turns out to be a straight up cash grab. Gone are the days where 30,000 - 70,000 people lose crap tons money to games like ATLAS. Not trying to insult anyone's intelligence, but 10 X 30,000 people is $300,000 per month. Edit: 2:15 is what made this come out. P.S some of us have worked pretty darn hard for $8-$10 an hour.
silkroad had the exact same system, you could kill any player at any time outside of the towns but you would then get 'murderer' status and could be hunted by other players for a period of time, and if you got killed you would lose exp.

Fantastic overview! Thanks for summarizing this nicely, I think its vital that people are aware of what they're getting into Alpha 2, that its NOT early access and should not be judged as full release. Intrepid have done an amazing job of conveying that every time they talk about A2, but people still get the completely wrong expectation based on other industry precedents.
The hype for this game might be what ultimately destroys it or not idk at this point I'd be shocked if this game came out before I'm old and grey and possibly 6ft under
It's an indy game. They can't fund it forever without launching it. My guess is they'll delay some features until after launch. I'm predicting early 2026 for launch.
The corruption system wont work. If BDO is a good example as to why the bandit/corruption system wont work. Red players in BDO can lose gear enchant levels and huge amount of crystals and EXP, but hey they found a way around that by calling more and more guild mates to stack karma NEAR red while the first guy who camped you is farming his back by grinding in your farm spot. So unless the corruption system has a extremely slow way to get back to a regular joe then I don't think this will be any differen't and with the archeage type control players will have with courts and cities.. It'll be total chaos and just like new world showed us at launch if you arent part of the winning side you will be rolled. Ashes of Creation is a failed concept based on other areas in games that have already failed or have become niche. They should just settle with making a battle royale and fast paced ADHD type game to sell to 10 year olds. They'd make more of their money back.
I am a PVP player so for me I’m gonna be fine. However, if you’re telling me this game is going to allow people to kill other players anywhere on the map at anytime with the exception of a few housing plots? It’s never gonna have huge success. There are thousands and thousands and thousands of casual gamers out there, that will never do that. Like it or not those people spend a lot of money on video games and they’re the ones that keep these MMO companies afloat. ESO is a perfect example.
You haven't played L2 by the looks of it.. 12 years later, this haven't killed the game and there is tens of thousands of daily players on private and retail servers that will disagree with you. It is frustrating for casual players sometimes, but that brings an immersion to the world. You can always play around it or just become stronger. Also, since I heard that Steve is taking a great inspiration from L2, that means he will probably implement and improve on that already existing PK system and won't allow people to mindlessly go and slay casuals around the map without any drawback or consequences, so don't worry about it that much!
Bro actually said "if you own a home in a node and you don't want to see it destroyed you need to defend that city" DONE. Fin. The end. people gonna entertain that shit for a few months and soon as they realize everything they have ever worked for in game just keeps getting trashed on because of PVP and they are just spinning their wheels trying to build their empire, they will be gonzo. Guaranteed. This literally sounds like BDO pvp but worse. And look what is happening to BDO. It's never been incredibly popular to begin with and players are leaving in waves. In response they have cut down PVP dramatically in an attempt to try to bring people back and entice new players to try it. Hardcore is too much for the majority of people and games like this can't survive on the dribblings of income from the hardcore few. Eve online is another terrible example of a game held together by a paltry handful of players that enjoy that kind of sadism.
The game will be fun for a few months. Then the population will age and newer players won't find anyone to group with. Eventually it'll just dissolve into three large guilds of players just bitching about lack of new content. There will be zero new player influx after 6 months to a year. This isn't new. This has been done and tried endlessly and it always follows the exact same pattern.
Everyone, PLEASE go and read the steam reviews of Ashes of Creation Apocalypes, their attempt at making a Battle Royale. That will tell you everything you need to know about this game and this company.
This is a great video for the appropriate clever use of the Lock Stock scene alone :) . This is also a great overview and while this is not exactly what I'm looking for in a game right now (mostly b/c of time commitments needed), I am now actively interested in following along to see how this turns out. I applaud anyone for a taking a different approach - I hope it works out. And I look forward to seeing what you think of it when you get a chance to play the alpha. Cheers.
Idk, maybe im just a casual but imagine getting off work and having your progress gated by some streamer who plays the game for a living. Just so he can have "content" I've played BDO, EVE, Albion, and Mortal 2 and they all turn into endgame guilds/companies/clans gatekeeping lower players content. I can see why this doesnt appeal to everyone.
"Not mindless killing and meaningful conflict" So people did the math. If you max out your bounty and have a friend kill you and you split the reward with them, then you get more than you lose. Also so far in their testing people get spawn camped and could not get out of starting towns do to grieving and the Devs did nothing to stop this, and the grifer's just had a friend kill them and cycle out with their friend holding up hundreds of players just with a few people. The "Not mindless killing and meaningful conflict" is super optimistic
this style of pvp mmo is something that stephens a huge fan of so i doubt it'll change. but its also not the style of game hardly any mmo players go for these days. ashes will be an EXTREAMLY nitche game, amazing for its nitche but TINY.
This game has the same terrifying vibes that Arche Age had. -The developers are selling founder packs before the launch (Always a great sign) -PvP game where you can get attacked for any reason whatsoever -Game where big guilds or bots are going to take all the land spots they can find and control the ingame market -The game promises insane amount of class combinations which means that there are going to be few broken ones and the rest are basically weak no matter what I don't see this game having a large player base few months after it releases.
- Nothing wrong with developers selling cosmetics pre launch to give people an incentive to support development. Those same cosmetics will be available in game in other forms as well - We're complaining about founders packs now? - It's going back to the roots of MMO's having open PVP, which for many is an integral part of MMO gameplay - How do you know this? There is no extended gameplay to even make this comment in good faith about guilds and bots lol - The class combinations have been charted for months now with the classes they've landed on. It isn't an insane amount and the promise isn't even full blown. Baulder's Gate 3 has more combinations. Crying about class variation is wild. You're entitled to your opinion, but don't pass off your ill-informed one as facts
Ill keep huffing copium. I've played many MMO's and I'm more excited about this game than any other. I've been following ashes since the beginning yet haven't spent a dime. The amount its changed (in the right direction) gives me hope. I don't think they believe they will be the next "WoW", nor are they trying to be. The game will have its dedicated player base and I think it will be big enough to have staying power. I just hope it comes out before 2065.
i have been gaming since the days of grayscale, when computers were only black and white(1980 ish) This is what games used to be i am excited to see their return !!
Public transport feels like DAoC to me, where you'd jump on a horse or a flying mount to navigate more quickly between areas of interest. It's not instant travel (what we would now call "fast travel") but actual "fast travel" as in you can get there x amount more quickly than just walking or riding there on your own.
What I think they should do is after you get the achievement of having explored and area, you open an access to a flying mount and you can only fly to other areas you have explored. This way you get to explore the environment, but not have to travel slowly through it after going through it ones, as it would be tedious and annoying, not to mention boring after a while.
@@gaarcemail if they did it like it was done on DAoC, you'd still have 90+ % of the map to explore even with "fast travel" because it was only between major points. You had to walk or ride to get anywhere else.
I think a critical mass of mmo players do not enjoy having things they earned taken away from them by opposing sweaty players. Those types are playing rust or whatever. I’m trying to imagine the city my house is in being taken over while I’m working or whatever and idk how I would feel about that.
My concern is the game does not sound casual friendly. There are too many time consuming mechanics that prevent casuals from engaging fully. This sounds like a game for sweats and no-lifers. Which is fine, and IIRC Steven has even commented as such. Cause how can you be a casual crafter or gatherer if you're having to manage caravan-ing or risk losing your materials you farmed during your limited play time?
Pretty sure Ashes will find its Playerbase. Dont think it wil lappeal to the majority. This starts with no teleports, walk from town to town to buy stuff. We saw it in many MMO`s and ppl wont change their opinion. While Ashes wont be for me (Combat is not good enough for me) i hope it finds enough Players that find exactly what they are looking for =)
IDK if you seen the recent ranger showcase, they've revamped the heck out of it. I've been the one on reddit and on their forums bitching about the combat, I KNEW it was going to be shit, you smell it from a mile away. But give credit where credits due, if you watch that ranger showcase AoC is now shaping up to potentialllly have the best combat of any MMO.
@@PherPhur i am addicted to real Action Combat AS IT is in New World. AS Well Love instanced Dungeons and raids in Eso. Ive Seen the revamp and the progress, thumbs up to intrepid. Still Not a Game for me or my guild. Best of luck and fun to U Brother 😉
alot of people have it in there mind they be moving from quest hub to quest hub aswell cause thats what your use to seeing, ashes your more likely to stick in one area and build up the node around it rather than running all over the place so fast travel there isnt as big of an issue when u think about it. And when u do travel u can probaly expect to go run there spend some time there doing what u went to do then return some days later.
I mean it looks good so far, but I'll wait for the finished product. Don't want another new world situation where they switch shot up right before launch
Shades of Crowfall, imo. There was not enough of a pvp community to keep that alive until it could sort out the issues at hand. If Ashes doesn't find a way to pull in more than just pvp'ers it is likely to meet the same fate should it actually get off the ground.
Best examples of open world full pvp mmos going these days would be Albion Online & Eve Online. Albion does decent numbers, but it's a mobile game with moba-like gameplay. Eve is pretty unique mechanically and playerbase is relatively tiny compared to other mmos. I just can't see a world where a studio pumps as much money and dev hours into a project like AoC that manages to build any lasting success, there's just no way it will have the mass appeal needed to recoup investment and sustain itself. I'm definitely interested, but I can't help but feel like a lot of promised elements will be walked back by the time it launches. (Disclaimer as well, no shade at Eve or Albion I have sunk thousands of hours into both games lol)
I think A2 will get great feedback from those playing it anyway. I think most people who shelled out the $250 (or in my case $400 during kickstarter) know what to expect. Most of the negativity will probably come from people who watch streamers. Thankfully I think most streamers will expect this and will remind their audience often that it's a true alpha.
I didn't shell out the money because the fact that supporting the game so early would lead to a large number of unique items for backers only that no one else would be able to get if they started playing at launch was such a huge red flag to me that I pretty much wrote off the game immediately. If they're making decisions like this about in-game items I know they'll be making terrible decisions throughout the entire development cycle. Starting off your funding using FOMO with such a long development cycle remaining is kinda bad. Telling everyone you're already fully funded and continuing to use such tactics is even worse.
As someone who's worked in the technology sector for almost 20 years,I'll say, ignore the naysayers you'll have the last laugh for being an early adopter.
With regards to the social aspect, I just hope that it won't turn out like many other MMOs, where it is almost exclusively locked behind a "discord gate".
My first MMORPG was EverQuest on Zek PvP server....talk about rough and fun. This corruption system seems whack. Like, timed out, forever, based on how many levels below? The fame sounds promising but lost. Imagine you spend a lot of time and money on your home, log off, do w/e to find out someone burned it down. 😂😂😂 And LOL that beginning travel system is 100% EQ.....he will try and copy as much as he can. A good review.
I do hope that ashes does what it wants to make the open world. But I do hope it has learned something from these other more pve mmos that keep players busy on long questline solo or unlimited raiding as a group for those the like that.
I do think Ashes stands a chance. I could be wrong, but i dont think i am. Ive tried other mmo's and i dont like them. I started playing eso as an elder scrolls fan not an mmo fan. AOC so far has been the only other mmo to pique my interest. Theres a familiarity to it. I doubt ill be throwing down the money for alpha 2 but beta maybe. Id like to see things more fleshed out before committing.
They have some real issues with this game. The biggest, IMO, is they want to do too much. They keep introducing huge new systems on a massive scale.. for a game that isn't even close to release. I think they've gone too far to reevaluate and scale down and I tend to think we'll eventually get a buggy, incoherent mess. The style is very MEH, although some of the environments look fantastic.
It's not, it's meaningful for everyone, just get good and have a soul, when you're on a pvp server on wow classic it's not even that bad, it's not like you're gonna get killed every 10 minutes, it happens but that's only 1% of the time lol, and like take a break, pve players always ruin the fun in mmos and you are the reason why people stop playing mmos because the game becomes bland, just look at retail wow and how it has been ruined by the loud part of the player-base (pve players), now bgs are 15/30 minutes long, world content is mid at best, and pve content has no flavour, in the end it's blizzard's fault for listening to cry babies instead of having good judgement
I really like the idea of a social MMO, but I feel like the only way this game is trying to accomplish that is through genre regression. I think there's a way to have modern MMO convenience and kindness while still encouraging people to communicate. It just feels like there's no game even willing to try. Group finders aren't a problem, content that doesn't require coordination is. Open PVP always involves some amount of griefing, you can have player conflict while restricting direct conflict to certain specific scenarios (like the caravans). The beauty of persistent worlds is that the players can add to them and grow a sense of permanence, but if you can lose it at any time it just devolves into chaos. I hope the devs see that and change course.
Thanks for the vid. Nice sum up. Im REALLY interested in the Monster token mechanic in the game. Once alpha 2 rolls out hopefully we can see some events and get some feedback on that. If they do that right its got potential for dynamic world events with cool pvp combat with a new angle. If you get a chance drop us a video on it! Im following and will watch and comment
That's not going to be the problem, for the most part. The issue I see will be: large PvP guilds effectively locking others out of Dungeons, World Bosses, Rare Resources, etc. This is going to be a 2-tier game: The Elites, and The Rest. If this leads to people leaving en'masse, that opens up a whole new keg of problems. Find a decently sized guild, and work together.
i think aoc has potential and looks good, looks like it feels good. but somehow i think they should launch somewhat soon (before 2026 ish?) otherwise the steam will be out before. theres defenitely a market and i think the two most important factors for success is quality (not many glitches, stable servers, complete graphics etc) and appealing to a wide audience (sweaty pve players, pvp players but most importantly, chill casual players). i really hope aoc succeeds because i want a proper mmo and i want it before my toddler goes to school lol
Keep in mind the beta's will be very short, they stated this. I am expecting 8 months max for A2. 3-4 months total for closed beta 1, 2, and open beta. I would guess Q1 2026
i think it has a chance and some factors at play will be how much time players have and just generally what you can accomplish with the time you invest the upsides and downsides of no fast travel and goods being available locally to where you sell them and transport them no shortcuts on travel and no shortcuts like selling in one town buying in another create real value to time invested as well as why you would transport things like some materials only obtainable in higher difficulty areas being purchased in lower risk areas because someone took the time to move them increasing the value to get them sooner and pay for lowered risk etc as long as everything is balanced enough and its engaging enough i think it has a chance to keep a large player base groups of people planning out tasks and routes and ways of doing things to accomplish what they're after within the game world i look forward to the success of the possibilities if it works.
Alpha-testers can make or break a game. If you recruit a bunch of ding-bat players who steer the game (selfishly) the wrong way sometimes it never recovers.
I think this is why it not being free and open to everyone might help it to some degree. Someone who has already made up their mind that they hate the game, are not going to pay money to tell you, that they hate the game. Well, you would think...
You forget that you get almost an year of game time on release with that package, so it's somewhat paid for something there. We don't talk about all the currency you getting for the cosmetics and other things with it..
AoC is a fantasy Star Citizen. When it releases in the early 30s it will have lost the vast majority of its original backers/followers and will simply fall flat with the generation that's into mobile and session gaming. Steven is a wealthy man and this is his labor of love. He can afford to take as long as he wants with it, 7 more years if need be. He and his team are obviously feeling comfy in this state of perpetual development, having no publisher to set the deadlines or realistic goals.
If they actually deliver what they are saying they will and this doesnt turn out to be a massive sham then boy do they stand a solid chance at becoming the next king of the mmorpg genre.
I'm not a pvp player but i've played Albion online and i would say the feeling of gathering resources while watching my surounding and being nervous about getting ganked add way more weight to the game thant simply being a farming bot for hours
UO Felucca, WoW Marshal/Knight LT., etc. player here. Unpopular opinion, but the gimmick of "revitalizing PvP" is the new cookie cutter in neo-age MMORPGs. Every game is petitioned, spammed, or begged for it nowadays... and besides grinding for dailies, rep, etc. the system goes into stasis, because the loudest voices that wanted it, have skipped off to the next game that listened to fair weather players. Griefers don't care about negatives. They're using their character to make other peoples life harder. It's legit why PvP guilds had alt guilds for their grief teams. I found more quality PvP in the recent wave of survival games, than I ever did in MMORPGs.
$250 to play an unknown game..... that's a big nope for me. Also...that's a lot of freakin spiders on the map. There are so many mmo's coming up that it's a wait and see game.
Totally get that, which is why i would say to anyone who is on the fence, DONT pay. There will be betas and people giving away free keys. I'm just in a position where I'm comfortable enough to pay it. I do have high hopes for this mmo over a lot of other ones that are coming out.
also.. Nodes are fixed in their TYPE and can not be changed, if you wan to live in a specific type of Node you'll need to find that type of node, the Mayor will not be able to change it.
Thats to do with how the node is established right? I think the node system has a lot of potential, we will have to see what they do with it further down the line.
it's my understanding that all nodes are of a predetermined type (decided by Steven), and the same across all servers. I'd really like to see Random Node Types, but I don't think it's going to happen. But yes, the development of those nodes will be very Dynamic and different on all servers (as well as level) and it's going very interesting to say the least.
That's great and all... But when is the game coming out? When you tell people about your game too far ahead of time, we tend to check out and be like "ok well let me know when we have something more concrete."
Bruh, the amount of negative comment with zero brain dead baffle me. AoC Have a good concept, hope they nailed it. Let them cook! Not like AGS what a joke, they don't know about New World itself and only rely to "Data" "But the data say..." AGS doesn't even play its own games, so the game has been stale for 2 years. --- Oh, and see you guys when game come out, soon™
- 9:10 okay so in archeage the fishermen (when I played) where just as scummy and ratty as the people coming to gank the fishermen. If a red shows up they all leave you to die, when easy we all could of just hit the guy and killed him. The people I worked the best with back in the day when I played was the ganker. We went out and hit fishermen and we made so much money. We helped each other get in and get out alive with the fat loot. And being an ex fisher I had all the boats to get the job done right. The fisherman on the other hand, yeah they will have a RAID of 15-20 players 2-3 reds show up and like magic that team goes down to 0 and they are all just toot tootin along their merry way ignoring the back up calls of a dark runner coming in. - 14:10 I hope it is balanced because I can see an Ex 'president' having more money then most players because they get the taxes from all the trading done in that city or node I'd assume. I can see both balanced and unbalanced being good in some ways and bad in others but I think a test of skill and knowing your class v the other person class is what should count. I also hope it could be like a 3v3 5v5 10v10 20v20 style. Not just a 1v1 counter to who you are fighting. - 15:34 I think being to big could also be bad. I like server pops of about 2k, I find it to be a good number for most games I play. I know they are going to have this HUGE map, but tbh I think having smaller denser maps with less players and more content packed inside is better, then this just massive land you need to walk for 30 mins to just get to some water. Idk we will see maybe my mind will be changed. - Notes: I don't think anyone should put money into the game, it is already funded so they don't need money. Just wait till it comes out guys chill. The game is going to change so much once it comes out. $250 for 6 month sub, so $40 a month is fair now in 2024 I guess. I guess you get other shit tbf. I did pay albion online 30 bucks to get in the beta back in 2017 too and it was so much fun, made good friends and learned about the game. BUT that is 30 bucks! You cant even go out for a nice dinner now for that much. 250 I think I can get a really nice dinner for a few people. Q3 is SO far away. So 8-9 months away? Anyways I hope the game does well and I hope a lot of players play, I know I want to but I am going to wait till it comes out or near when it comes out. I trust Steven to make something good, I knew him from archeage but I did not know him well enough in game at the time he was playing. I was never in his guild but he did work with mine. - 25:27 I think it should do well. Thanks for making a great video and have a great day.
250 euro for a alpha stage, where we basicly fix there bugs, the devs are crazy.. its going to fail so bad ... from all the mmo that tried to go PvP/Pvx 0 have stayed alive, and then when you see there prices its not going to happen here, players now a days love playing games that play them selfs.
I have been gaming for 25 years + and no full PvP game has ever survived. PvP games over a very brief time are watered down to accommodate the non pvpers. I have been watching this game since around 2015/16 and it no longer is on my horizon as a game I want to play.
Well at least they going all in pvp. The population may not be as big since pve casuals is keeping mmo genre afloat. I always like pvp focus mmos but the downside was the pop goes downhill fast.. aau 😅
If you look at the player numbers Rust started in early access and has had more long term staying power than New World. I'm someone who likes both games.
sadly, alpha 2 cannot be played right up to launch. They clarified last month that there will be downtime and focused testing so.. not SURE but it sounds like it might be long term spot testing, up to beta 1 & 2 /shrug
I mean , I expect down time and sever wipes, but essentially there won’t be anymore waiting to see what it’s like , but most importantly, people can help with testing and getting it just right
The subs only model is best for longevity, as long as they continue to add content. But if there isn't a way to opt out of PVP entirely, it's RIP because you won't get enough subs
Ibe been playing MMOs fornover 15 years and out ofthose, RuneScape, guild wars 2, and a few others have been ny ultimate favorites. Thay said, AoC is incredibly promising and innovative with how versatile the gameplay can be. Want to be a merchant? You got it. A fisher? Sure bud. PvPer? Ok lil bro. But the levek of love i see put into this is the same as i saw in guild wars 2 when i was playing it. You can tell the true love of an MMO by how its designed and updated. Especially contrasting against things like you showed here: matrix online, or any generic MMO that was produced because the genre was popular.

Pretty much..
@@HardDrumStepNobody knows what L2 is.. and that's probably why
Okay I'm 30 wtf is L2???
Lineage 2
Bro actually said "if you own a home in a node and you don't want to see it destroyed you need to defend that city"
DONE. Fin. The end. people gonna entertain that shit for a few months and soon as they realize everything they have ever worked for in game just keeps getting trashed on because of PVP and they are just spinning their wheels trying to build their empire, they will be gonzo.
I want to enjoy an MMO so bad but I can never get enough time to dedicate to it. You guys are so lucky you get to even try it out 😭
quit your job and leave your wife and kids. then youll have time
@@zwarx3237 ~ What a novel idea. Give up everything I’ve ever worked for and just degen an MMORPG.
I’ll do it.
Cheers.
Thank you for recognizing the greatness of that one quote :D
I just hate when the “risk” has to be overgrown COD players who harass you even when there is no reward for them. PVP players get obnoxious quick.
This game has the same terrifying vibes that Arche Age had.
-The developers are selling founder packs before the launch (Always a great sign)
-PvP game where you can get attacked for any reason whatsoever
-Game where big guilds or bots are going to take all the land spots they can find and control the ingame market
-The game promises insane amount of class combinations which means that there are going to be few broken ones and the rest are basically weak no matter what
I don't see this game having a large player base few months after it releases.
- Nothing wrong with developers selling cosmetics pre launch to give people an incentive to support development. Those same cosmetics will be available in game in other forms as well
- We're complaining about founders packs now?
- It's going back to the roots of MMO's having open PVP, which for many is an integral part of MMO gameplay
- How do you know this? There is no extended gameplay to even make this comment in good faith about guilds and bots lol
- The class combinations have been charted for months now with the classes they've landed on.
This looks awesome. The attack icons look eerily identical to RuneScape 3's but that makes sense. Cool stuff
i have been gaming since the days of grayscale, when computers were only black and white(1980 ish) This is what games used to be i am excited to see their return !!
I don't want to see a return of grayscale games personally.
Public transport feels like DAoC to me, where you'd jump on a horse or a flying mount to navigate more quickly between areas of interest. It's not instant travel (what we would now call "fast travel") but actual "fast travel" as in you can get there x amount more quickly than just walking or riding there on your own.
Makes sense, could be funny hanging out the back of a cart when you are suddenly attacked by sh*tters!
I’m trying to imagine the city my house is in being taken over while I’m working or whatever and idk how I would feel about that.
so its a bit like rust loot system , anyone can loot it when you die ??
My concern is the game does not sound casual friendly. There are too many time consuming mechanics that prevent casuals from engaging fully. This sounds like a game for sweats and no-lifers. Which is fine, and IIRC Steven has even commented as such. Cause how can you be a casual crafter or gatherer if you're having to manage caravan-ing or risk losing your materials you farmed during your limited play time?
Oh, my. There are so many games that you can play casually. Why, does every single game have to cater to that? Come on, dawg.
I found narc thanks to an old video of ur mentioning him. The dude is insane, so I immediately subscribed. Now we all are high on copium
So insane that sometimes he's the most sanist person in the room..
I wish it had a PvE server, along with the pvpve channel
There's only one type of player they're interested in.. 🐳
Not gonna lie it looks so fun
alot of people have it in there mind they be moving from quest hub to quest hub aswell cause thats what your use to seeing, ashes your more likely to stick in one area and build up the node around it rather than running all over the place so fast travel there isnt as big of an issue when u think about it. And when u do travel u can probaly expect to go run there spend some time there doing what u went to do then return some days later.
Sawman will be the only mayor that I want.
If he wins the trial by combat. I'm sure he'll end up getting exposed.😂
Theres no way im winning any trial by combat... :D
(Disclaimer as well, no shade at Eve or Albion I have sunk thousands of hours into both games lol)
i stopped watching this when i realized the stupid dogge wouldnt go away.
i have a name
I think A2 will get great feedback from those playing it anyway. I think most people who shelled out the $250 (or in my case $400 during kickstarter) know what to expect. Most of the negativity will probably come from people who watch streamers. Thankfully I think most streamers will expect this and will remind their audience often that it's a true alpha.
rip your money...
As someone who's worked in the technology sector for almost 20 years,I'll say, ignore the naysayers you'll have the last laugh for being an early adopter.
rip you can't afford it@@steadychasingmoneybands6213
very nice vid! fellow copium inhaler here (obviously) still several months away and trying to absorb as much content as possible - see you in Verra
With regards to the social aspect, I just hope that it won't turn out like many other MMOs, where it is almost exclusively locked behind a "discord gate".
I forgot to say, that one of my biggest concerns is the comms system, will there be area chat? Will there be Voip?
I just bought my Alpha 2 access! I'm so excited to test it and break it! LETS GOOOOO!!!
Literally clash of clan system LMAO
I am very excited to see you play this!🎉
I do hope that ashes does what it wants to make the open world.
You sound like perhaps you just don't like MMO's...
You can’t even buy it rn smh
They have some real issues with this game. The biggest, IMO, is they want to do too much. They keep introducing huge new systems on a massive scale.. for a game that isn't even close to release. I think they've gone too far to reevaluate and scale down and I tend to think we'll eventually get a buggy, incoherent mess. The style is very MEH, although some of the environments look fantastic.
is there anything yet on a release date ?
Maybe in 2030 with an early access version. I don’t think we will see this game before that time
happy to see you make Aoc videos i just love them
The PVP is only meaningful for those that want it, it's a pain in the ass for everyone else.
I like the part where you like what I like
corruption zones should be dedicated to mindless killing PVP zones, but still be dangerous and rewarding for anybody who enters :P
Man, I always like your videos and opinion. You speak out about things, where other content creators - dont.
Im following and will watch and comment
i like PvP sieges and arenas but if i can be ambushed any time I'm doing PvE that's a big deterrent for me
That's not going to be the problem, for the most part.
15:05 unmatched editing skills, got me 😂 Sometimes its the little things that matter
i guess the time to release will take as long as it take to create technology which can have 10 000 players in one server
I’d love to play this as pvX is what I do in eso as a pvp main. But I ain’t paying 250 for it
wheres the music at 23:40 from ?
Ocarina of Time - Lost Woods theme
i think aoc has potential and looks good, looks like it feels good. but somehow i think they should launch somewhat soon (before 2026 ish?) otherwise the steam will be out before. theres defenitely a market and i think the two most important factors for success is quality (not many glitches, stable servers, complete graphics etc) and appealing to a wide audience (sweaty pve players, pvp players but most importantly, chill casual players). i really hope aoc succeeds because i want a proper mmo and i want it before my toddler goes to school lol
Keep in mind the beta's will be very short, they stated this. I am expecting 8 months max for A2. 3-4 months total for closed beta 1, 2, and open beta. I would guess Q1 2026
This vid deserves way more views, explaining the game so well
Nice summary of the game. You earned a sub
i think it has a chance and some factors at play will be how much time players have and just generally what you can accomplish with the time you invest the upsides and downsides of no fast travel and goods being available locally to where you sell them and transport them no shortcuts on travel and no shortcuts like selling in one town buying in another create real value to time invested as well as why you would transport things like some materials only obtainable in higher difficulty areas being purchased in lower risk areas because someone took the time to move them increasing the value to get them sooner and pay for lowered risk etc as long as everything is balanced enough and its engaging enough i think it has a chance to keep a large player base groups of people planning out tasks and routes and ways of doing things to accomplish what they're after within the game world i look forward to the success of the possibilities if it works.
thumbs up for the balamb garden chill music
so they want you to pay 250$ to play test the Alpha?? What?? LOL

250 for alpha with wipes god damn that better give me some amazing shit in the finished game
if it ever even comes out... alpha 7 years later hahaha
Just wait for the finished version then. No need to buy the alpha keys
You forget that you get almost an year of game time on release with that package, so it's somewhat paid for something there. We don't talk about all the currency you getting for the cosmetics and other things with it..
16:50 much better than having fast travel with 0 chance of random encounters.
so I need to pay subscribe to lose everything. what a nice game.
It’s not pax dei 😹
Albion online also went early access and the game is pretty much what they promised at launch
Great video. Subbed.
Stephen has a true passion for creating
I think this “sawmanUK” isn’t half bad for a redcoat. He might have a future in the gaming community 😎👍
The idea can work as long as they stick to the plan and don't backtrack like New World.
Great video. I’m really looking forward to this game that quite literally does not exist
Open world PVP just like EVE great so you go to a town to buy stuff and get ganked outside and gear stolen that sounds like fun.
its not full loot and you dont drop gold
heeey wats the name of that chill lofi beats song playing at 18:00
It's a Steady Eddie Original!
If they actually deliver what they are saying they will and this doesnt turn out to be a massive sham then boy do they stand a solid chance at becoming the next king of the mmorpg genre.
and SawmanUK has gone from doing ganker troll vids to old KiraTV MMO vids
;)
Someone's been watching his Top Gear, you bombshell you! :D
I cant wait for this game to be successful, just so I can troll the ESO livestreams and get banned over and over saying "AOC?" "Ashes of Creation?"
I predict lots of PVE guys whining about a lot of things. So much so that the game starts to morph into your run of the mill pve mmo
Probably true but its probably that or have a tiny player base after first month or so.
You made a mistake. The Alpha Two will not be playable until launch. It will have two betas after it then will lunch.
once the game goes live it will become the tester
Bruh, the amount of negative comment with zero brain dead baffle me.
AoC Have a good concept, hope they nailed it. Let them cook!
Not like AGS what a joke, they don't know about New World itself and only rely to "Data" "But the data say..."
AGS doesn't even play its own games, so the game has been stale for 2 years.

Oh, and see you guys when game come out, soon™

Love the comment and insight , thanks for sharing 👍
I payed the $250. If they finish thie game
It will be a excellent game!!
Can I also buy ships for at least 1k Euro ? Do we also enter a stylish Concierge Club, once we reach a certain amount ? :o
I hope i get a cape tbh
I just remember Rust not being popular for the longest time and then suddenly it exploded.
sadly, alpha 2 cannot be played right up to launch. They clarified last month that there will be downtime and focused testing so.. not SURE but it sounds like it might be long term spot testing, up to beta 1 & 2 /shrug
I mean , I expect down time and sever wipes, but essentially there won’t be anymore waiting to see what it’s like , but most importantly, people can help with testing and getting it just right
"Bus wankers" 10/10
Cant wait to try it in 2035 along with Riot's MMO.
and also star citizen
The subs only model is best for longevity, as long as they continue to add content. But if there isn't a way to opt out of PVP entirely, it's RIP because you won't get enough subs
what do you think about albion online?
Im 100% getting this game and playing it as soon as possible.
