On 24th May 2023 Guam escaped a direct hit by category 5 typhoon Mawar by the TINIEST of margins. The storm still packed a huge punch and unleashed the most lightning I've ever seen in a typhoon. This video contents elements of sound design to enhance the viewer experience.

The crazy part about Mawar is that it became a Category 5 Super Typhoon with maximum sustained winds of 180mph!!!
You are an inspiration to kids growing up who love extreme weather and want to learn more about the world.
Thanks so much John - I really hope that’s the case!
Amazing work there, James! It's also awesome that you went down to the spot where Jim Leonard filmed Yuri's storm surge before he had to bail out! Hoping to intercept a typhoon in Guam some day!
Thanks so much Jose! The logistics were a bit complicated on this storm but next time I want to try catch some of the surge down where Jim was all those years ago. I hope you're well and all prepped for 'cane season 2023!
Perfect background music. Not too ominous but not not ominous.
Thanks for watching and your feedback!
Amazing work James!! Looking forward to more videos to come this typhoon season. the lightning was wild
Thank you so much Logan, really appreciate it!
Awesome job documenting this storm James. Very professional, as always. I’m sure you will get more chances upcoming this year. Hope Guam recovers quickly and wish them well .
Thanks so much! Yeah I think it's going to be a busy year and I'm ready for it
It’s been more than a month and Guam is still recovering. 😔 Some residents are still without power. It was my first time in my 41 years existence in earth that I experienced this kind of typhoon. Grateful for those who prayed and are still praying for us. God bless.
Fantastic video, really loved the nod to Jim Leonard!
Thanks so much Max - really appreciate that. It was really cool to visit a place where footage from all the childhood hurricane docs I used to watch was shot. Jim’s a legend!
Fantastic video, James! I really like the before/after comparisons. ❤ the sign ... Where America's Day Begins! Thx for sharing your chase with us!
Thanks so much Pam for watching and taking time to comment. Wishing you all the best.
Thanks!
The only option was a 30nt donation. Is this a new thing? Thanks for your videos.
Thanks so much Paul as always. I just checked and when I click on Thanks it gives me a choice of 4 amounts. Maybe the options are limited in your UA-cam account settings / security?
@@EarthUncutTV OK. I'll check. Thanks
Mawar is truly unforgettable.
Damn right!
Great work!
Mawar was surely a very unique and interesting storm.
Thanks so much for watching!
@@EarthUncutTV No problem!
I noticed near the start of the video a royal poinciana tree (behind you at 1:42).
It reminds me of the one in my neighbor's yard.
That tree had the whole top half of it snap off and into the road after Ian (I'm in collier county FL).
Luckily it's recovering well now.
WOW super STRONG
Your videos get me chills every time. Incredible scenes. Please be careful, and safe travels. Cheers.🙂
Thank you!!
Great coverage of Mawar! Glad you stayed safe man.
Cheers!!
Yeah that's usually never good when there's lightning inside the eyewall of a hurricane! Awesome footage James!
Thanks!! Yeah that lightning was wild
This is one of the best typhoon vlogs you have ever done so far, James. And there will be more to come. All the best, James!
Rey!! Thanks man, that’s what I’m trying to do, make the new ones better than the last. Glad you enjoyed this one
Awesome stuff 👍
@@AS-xi9df thank so much!!
Mother Nature unleashed!! Beyond awesome! The aftermath tells the story of destruction so vividly captured by you James...also...what a really beautiful island is Guam..hope the recovery is going speedily and safely ..thank you for this...😊
I believe the lightning in the eye was a sign of RI(Rapid Intensification), It's called VHT or Vortical hot towers, Amazing Job.........
Amazing video!
Thank you so much! 🙏
great video!
Thank you Michael!
Still mesmerising stuff.
At a junction in life myself and wonder if going back into loss adjusting or some sort of post-hurricane aide is possible. The rebuilding & helping is rewarding.
Oh I bet! I hope whichever path you choose it’s rewarding for you. Thanks for watching and all the best

I'm sorry to hear people are without power - that really shouldn't be the case and I hope those in charge of such things learn from this and improve the readiness of the infrastructure.
@@EarthUncutTV Guam Power Authority has been working 24/7 to restore our power islandwide. We are thankful for them. I hope you come back to Guam and enjoy your stay without the typhoon. 🙂
Thanks so much! And much respect to the frontline crews working their butts off to fix the mess.
Awesome stuff man Guam appreciates it
@@whispers555 thank you so much - there’s no greater compliment than those living in the impact zone finding my videos / work useful. All the best!
Crazy part is they never said it to the public that it hit CAT5
