Finally, some great footage of typhoon mawar. I have looked at twenty different channels and haven't seen anything until I got to this channel. Great job filming!!
Absolutely AWESOME, James! That is a crazy amount of lightning... and so eerie to see it illuminate the dense rainfall! Can't wait to see what the rest of the 2023 season brings. I really need to get out to the WestPac one of these days.
I was stationed in Guam twice during my career in the Navy as an Aerographer's Mate working on Nimitz Hill for JTWC and gladly can tell you! GUAM is one Tough Island to handle Typhoons! Wish everyone there to be safe! USN RET
Thank you and your Family for helping keep our Island of Guam safe!…May the Lord bless all of you and keep you all safe…..please let your daughter know that Guam Loves her! 🏝️ ❤️
lived in guam from 94-96. on our way in the island was still recovering from typhoon omar. when we left we were dealing with another one passing before departing the airport.
My understanding is that in extremely strong hurricanes and typhoons you see a lot more lightning...found that out from video of the hurricane hunters flying into a category 5 and they said that..
My house was in the direct hit zone just out side of Anderson AFB, it was late at night, sounded like a tornado for about 10 minutes, blew out my ear drums as I hear what was maybe 150mph winds, this is my 4 typhoon and also been in 4 Hurricanes that helped me to prepare and survive MAWAR !
Just watching is giving me anxiety! We endured hurricane Ian here in Cape Coral FL, directly in the eye wall, 145mph winds at our house, fortunately, we didn't get flooded out. I've been in a quite a few hurricanes and without a doubt Ian was the worst! We're still dealing with the aftermath, so many home's destroyed and the loss of life was horrible. Good luck Guam, stay safe!
Used to live there When PAKA came thru it was super typhoon There was no final windspeed as it broke the national weather service Sensors That one was pretty scary Lost power for 30 days in Yigo
I'm not surprised that there is so much lightning. A storm of this intensity would have lots of thunderstorms. When the remnants of hurricane Ida passed south of Long Island the New York area had very heavy thunderstorms and flooding and intense lightning thunder for hours.
What a captivating sight of the lightnings and huge waves. Keep these videos coming if you can but stay safe. Edit: i just noticed that that there were no booming thunders after the lighting strikes. I find it odd. Or maybe the wind drowned out the sound.
Dont recall exact term but its a different release of energy and noise is altered. Went thru Typhoon Omar on Guam, quite a never to be forgotten experience!
@@brendaloera8751 is the term you're looking for heat lightning? My area was hit by Cat 5 Super typhoon Goni and I remember the sounds vividly. At times it seemed like an airplane was flying overhead, sometimes it was mostly the wind whistling. The thunders sounded like explosions.
Jose!! We lost the radar so hard to tell where eye wall was in relation to my exact location. We had solid cat 1 conditions on the beach tho I suspect quite a bit strong further north
What explains the high amount of lightning? Often tropical cyclones don't have such high frequency of lightning compared to your average thunderstorm. And weaker tropical storms tend to have more lightning than fully developed typhoons/hurricanes, but Mawar here is a Cat 4 typhoon. I've read that tropical cyclones that do show such high frequency indicates a large change in intensity in the storm, so Mawar could be rapidly intensifying (or weakening) as it moved over Guam?
Oh yes, the lightning and rain falling in sheets during typhoons are terrifying. Also horrific when one sees heavy objects fly like cardboard boxes. Makes a person wonder if they will survive those hours when the sky seems to fall down in a grey swirl.
Anyone who thinks this typhoon looks absolutely devastating to the area that it’s affecting (which I am most sure it is) probably has never seen any footage from Hurricane Dorian that hit the Bahamas in 2019. Dorian’s footage will forever scar me unlike any other. I am praying for guam and it’s residents.
Once captivating flash of flashes of lightning and huge waves or strong winds were experienced, convey that areas were under the eyewall of a typhoon or super typhoon. Be alert and stay safe!
Hello. I hope everyone is safe there .its stressful on all these people to see if they are going to lose their homes by this wind etc. I just want everyone to be ok .
if I wasn't married with kids and money wasn't an issue, this is what I would have done with my life....follow bad weather and film it. Here in south wales we don't get much freak weather, every flash of lightning I would fall asleep on the windowsill hoping to see another when I was a kid. Now I just use an old baby monitor to film the clouds going over my house and create time lapses out of them. Not a lot of people watch them, I have over 600 subscribers and only 15-30 people ever watch them...but I like making them :)
Thanks for watching! Doesn’t matter if you only get a few views if you’re embracing your passion and having fun. Hope you get some interesting weather soon
Dayum I live in the Philippines, where lightning and thunder are very frequent and I still flinch every time, there even times where the thunder just reverberates without stopping for like an hour, it's like jet flying through the skies and dropping bombs exploding in the distance nonstop. I guess I'm just a pus lol.
I just spoke with my friend over an hour ago on messenger and that was a fluke I got through as she said the power has been in and out. Ohh...that would have been 9 pm Guam time when I spoke to her.
@@EarthUncutTV , ohhh really, that is so unusual. How is the weather there now 11 pm your time? I am in Japan, and going to try and get some sleep as I am so worried about my child who is going to school there.
Wow, I am from Florida so i am no stranger to hurricanes and tropical storms. Lightning and thunder is not very common when they make landfall as the storms are warm core. Lightning and thunder are usually only found in very strong hurricanes and tropical systems.
We experience this last 2021 we had typhoon odette her in southern leyte philippines we thought its our last of our life but we keep on praying we trust god he cover us from the strong typhoon! I believe Hurricane Ian had a lot of lightning in its eyewall too. Interestingly enough, Typhoon Mawar was also the first time since Hurricane Ian that the National Weather Service issued an Extreme Wind Warning. Those don't happen too often, because they are only issued for landfalling hurricanes (or typhoons in Guam/CNMI) that are expected to produce sustained winds of 115 mph or greater.
Finally, some great footage of typhoon mawar. I have looked at twenty different channels and haven't seen anything until I got to this channel. Great job filming!!
Oh wow, thanks - much appreciate and cheers for watching!
I swear. I have family there
I live here in Tamuning. This typhoon is no joke, walking outside would be takeoff into the air 😂.
Great footage, thank you!!
Agree 🙋
Hope that you and the others will be safe during the typhoon.
I also lived on Guam, went thru 2 typhoons.

Thanks so much Michael! I’m annoyed I missed the strike directly overhead with explosion of thunder haha.
That is a severe thunderstorm-like typhoon
Blessing from Malaysia. Hope everything will be fine soon.
thanks for the video and commentary on lightning effects!
Prayers for our brothers & sisters in Guam. YAH protect them.

Just wow
omg yes i was looking from a camera on the roof north we were in the eyewall in it was my first time seeing lighting an the eyewall
Just .. wow. WOW! Superb shots, and truly epic. Makes me wonder what the wildlife does. Love the lightning and the swirling misty stuff!
Thanks so much Gene! The swirly stuff was hypnotic
Praying for the safety of every life (people & animals), the homes & businesses in Guam.
This reminded me of ST Yolanda, that terrifying gushes of winds that seems like its ripping out our roof and dancing trees. I hope everyone is safe.
You capture the intensity of the storm wow ....
that's really scary... i hope everyone is safe... prayers to all thw people in Guam....
the wind, the lightning so scary, incridible footage
The lightning adds so much texture to this typhoon😂
Incredible
I was in Super Typoon Pamela. It was horrendous. Hours and hours and hours to go over. May 1976.
That was a real nasty one - thanks for sharing your memory of it!

You often don't hear thunder in tropical cyclones as the wind is too loud.

I live here Guam and stay in the northern side of yigo. We got hit pretty hard. The thunder and lightning kept going. 🫣
Great footage and lightning captures, James! How was the backside? It seems like the SE eyewall packed a greater punch.

In the Philippines, we've seen it many times.
a lot of houses in Guam are made of concrete materials, even the roof are poured concrete
My daughter said it got intense. Watching this , this is crazy . The weather is insane.
