Is that James Cameron on the radio? In the first 10 seconds you realize how perfectly timed that was for Tom Arnold to say his dialogue and immediately que the jets fly by. Excellent!
nocalsteve negative. That is not a green shot. Look at it again. Whenever he looks at Tom Arnold after he says “negative” that’s chronographed. That also might’ve been an actual projected screen. But definitely not the harrier scene
@@benjiespinosa4703 You’ve been fooled. Seriously, that’s an impossible shot. There is no way two Harriers flew that fast in formation that close to a helicopter carrying two stars. The actual fly by shot showed the Harriers flying at least 500ft below the helicopters which is where they probably got the first shot in this clip of the Harriers in formation from one of the helicopters. Look at all of the other shots from inside the helicopter which are obviously green screen. It makes no sense that Cameron would waste the money trying to get that shot when he had far more important Harrier shots to get. Harriers don’t come cheap. If you seriously think about it for a moment you’ll realize it’s just good special effects, it didn’t actually happen. Every other interior shot in the helicopter, the trucks, and the limo were all obviously green screened. It defies logic that the one Harrier shot is real.
nocalsteve at .09 seconds is where you can see its real. The interior on the ceiling is not chronographed. The lighting is just too accurate to argue. Just because you think it’s not logically possible or waste of money doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. At 11 seconds of the clip we see a wide shot of the exact shot in question. You can clearly see two helicopters in shot flown in front of the harriers. Also Look at T2 the truck/ helicopter chase sequence. The pilot was a Vietnam vet pilot that flown choppers in the war. And he was going under bridges and barely flying over bridges at close quarters. James Cameron was a pushing the limits back then. I’m telling you this shot in the first 15 seconds of this clip is very real and very precised. Hats off to the pilots and crew. It’s really a beautiful shot.

An absolutely mind-blowing action sequence. This was the reason I watched the movie three times in theatres.
Arnie's expression at 1:48 is great
I saw this in cinema back in the days... one of my best movie experience absolut mindblowing effects for this time and they still work today...
Props to all the actors playing the terrorists, they're all hilarious LOL
i love how the last truck that falls in the water has no reason to blow up but does anyway
1:14 "WOOHOO!!!"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've driven over that bridge numerous times over the years. The whole drive from the mainland to Key West is really nice.
When I first saw this movie 20 years ago, I literally thought that they actually blew up the bridge. That's how believable the practical effects were, I knew the Harriers were real but still though.
Man this movie was something else!
1:40 James Cameron is voicing the pilot)
Really??
James Cameron is Jewish, too
Сергей Мешков thought it sounded like him
@@frankcastle8349 so?
@@frankcastle8349 ok
james cameron doesn't disappoint.
2:42 always loved that change of mood LMAO
THIS MOVIE IS SO AWESOME I HAVE NO WAYS TO DESCRIBE IT...DECADES AHEAD
Legend has it that the last words that Pelican said to those guys before he flew away was...
*MURICA.*
Let's get some
One of my top movies of ALL time ---> I can't even count how many times I re-watched this movie
You do know it's a remake? of a french movie?
Dunno how they compare. Never seen the french one.
Still love this movie, and specifically this scene. I got to see a real Harrier on the ground and take off for the airshow here in Toronto. I think it was at Downsview back when it was still an airport that opened to the public for people to see preflight, and the way the Harrier speeds off from VTOL position was just amazing.
They're amazing. I saw them at the Farnborough Air Show where they did some hovering maneuvers. Man those things are loud when they hover.
When that pelican landed on the truck, oh man, nearly laughed my damn ass off. Haha, awesome movie 👌
1:42 - I do believe that's James Cameron's own voice as that pilot.
He would do it again in Avatar
@@jonathonnolan2195 Really? I had no idea. I’ll have to listen for it.
@@tronam it’s when the RDA go to destroy Hometree
@@tronam it’s near the end of a quick exchange between the pilots in the small task force. “Time on target: 1 mike (minute).” “Copy we have visual.” “(James Cameron’s voice is heard here) Roger that, stay on heading 030.” “Roger 030.”
I just LOVE IT when $hit blows up for no reason!!😆👍
Just like the bridge to Crimea!
So many funny moments. But the way their laughter stops when the birds lands....😆
I loved how this movie could be as funny as it was exciting. =)
1:51-2:13 one of the most thrilling scenes in action cinema in my opinion. After 30 years; this scene is still just as thrilling as it was the first time I saw it back in theaters. The entire bridge scene is a masterclass of action filmmaking.
Still my favorite part of the whole movie
Truck dude: **Tries to shoot Harrier with AK-47**
Harrier: *”Your free trial of existence has ended…”*
Is that James Cameron on the radio? In the first 10 seconds you realize how perfectly timed that was for Tom Arnold to say his dialogue and immediately que the jets fly by. Excellent!
You realize that’s a green screen shot, right? There are no Harriers behind him.
nocalsteve negative.
It’s really a beautiful shot.
one of the best action set pieces i have ever seen
Fucking shot of the 2 Harriers splitting to the right after they fire the missiles is framed to perfection... along with the sound design and model work! Epic as fuck!
Yes!
Good to know that pelicans are on America’s side
My father always play this scene on the Laserdisc. I never forget it. He bought it for Side C because of this.
This is the best damn movie ever made!! The stunt work was by far ahead of its and it was done without cgi!!
1:12 And this. This is why it's very important to read the safety manual first.
Back in the era of VHS I would come home and play this movie everyday after school
I watched this movie on those huge ass Laser Disc!
*People had surround sound could experience everything in the room!*

Epic scene from the greatest movie of all time.
Hahaha. I watched this movie in childhood and still love it😊😊😊 and that soundtrack, simply legendary
I know it's True Lies but why would the truck explode at 2:54😂😂😂
True lies really doesn't get the crust it deserves
