I own the original A1 and now the mark II. I am a Sony shooter mostly doing studio work and I find this a great upgrade. The autofocus is a major upgrade for me and while I have a VERY long wishlist of features I’d like to see, I’m happy with paying the delta between selling my used A1 and buying the new.
People keep on arguing and complaining over the R1, R5, Z9, A1. Those who need it know what they’re getting and 95% of those arguing in the comments have never tried any of these flagship cameras.
For me I just see it as a win that there is finally competition and that the three leading brands are pushing each other.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone ❤

True, often people arguing specs have never used the camera(s) 😂 that’s why we like to get the camera in hand and give our thoughts for creators

The problem start when you compare the A1II with the Z8 or the R5II and factor the price difference.

A1 still has the better hardware than R5II/Z8/Z9, but you pay a premium to eek out the extra bit.
Thing is most people don't see the difference or it doesn't matter. Z8/Z9 is hailed as best value, but it also doesn't have a mechanical shutter. To some that is very important while others could care less. Cutting that hardware out saves money. R5II now has a stacked sensor but it's readout speed is 6.3ms vs the A1 3.7ms. Yup, it is slower but do people realize it? A wildlife humming birder would but everyone else prob not.

Great breakdown and comparison! As a current A1 owner, I am struggling to justify upgrading to A1II. Your video helps me feel content with sticking with my A1, until there is a more significant update from Sony in the future 🙌🙏

It’s about $1500-2000usd over priced since it comes with no firmware updates, but what a camera takes out Nikons whole mirrorless line up. Sony A7V hopefully will have this sensor with a lower price tag.

I am currently using the A7R V, and I find it more than sufficient for my needs. Spending $6,500 on the A1 II for what feels like a minor upgrade doesn’t seem justifiable to me. The A7R V already delivers exceptional performance in terms of resolution and features, and the improvements in the A1 II don’t provide enough value for the price difference.

I don’t know about that. It’s pretty expensive, but go look at some of the flagship DLSR‘s from Canon and Nikon……… in the early 2000s as digital was getting better $10,000 to $15,000. 12 to 18 megapixels. Crazy times.

Heck no. All that crap is overpriced. And as one checks the used and resale market, people can't dump the stuff fast enough when they realize that they've be suckered into over spending for the sht. After 6 months every single device sold new is already $600 cheaper open box. Some devices are $1000 cheaper. And they still make a profit.
