This is my reaction to the release of James Webb Space Telescope's (JWST) FIRST IMAGES! We have waited a very long time for this and I am so excited to share my reaction with you all.

Apologies, the Hubble image I shared isn’t actually the same one as the JWST. In my rush to get the video edited I didn’t realise.
Why didn't they remove the sparks from the brightest stars? They are really not there.

@@fliu5282 A common way is to use digital filters with some manual touch.
@@UA-cam_Stole_My_Handle_Too The images presented here are for science first, and the average joe second. They're meant to be analyzed carefully as data, and therefore preserving the raw content -- optical artifacts and all -- are more important than your viewing pleasure.
Six spiked stars (or eight, if you count the two small ones) are going to remain an unavoidable, but instantly recognizable feature of JWST.

That mentality is just silly. Scientists more than anyone needs accurate data. There is no sensible reason not to wash the pictures through a geometry filter before release or at the very least release a washed version in addition to the flawed one.
What a time to be alive. 300,000 years of human history and here we are mapping the universe and detecting water on distant worlds. If only our hunter/gatherer ancestors could see and understand how far we've come

I think if our ancestors could see how far we have come they would see Lawyers and politicians they would have stayed hunter gatherers.

It's not just the information itself, but how quickly it can be gathered.
This is a monentous occasion marking the first full use of this much anticipated piece of amazing equipment.
Less than a year ago, we weren't certain when it was finally going to be launched, much less whether it would succeed. We are getting reports it keeps exceeding expectation. This should give enough impetus to develop it's eventual successor.
That was just amaaazing, and equally; was your excited human reactions...even though you are a seasoned astro photographer!!!!! You remind me of...er....ME...when I see or take a great images! Hope to follow you throught the future image releases of the Webb! Keep up the great work!
Amazing! Yeah this just proves how small we are and that we are just one form of life in a vast ocean…can’t wait for the hard physical evidence. I’m so excited

So great your presentation! These 5 images are fascinating. Are there reasons they didn't present more? Is it because one photo is so complex and so many bytes etc. that it takes a great amount of time to create? I really liked how you did a comparison of Hubble's view of the same section of space. I watched the first presentation at 9:30AM CST and maybe I was thinking many other things but I swear I never saw NASA do a comparison with Hubble to show how much greater detail we were seeing and you did and commend you for that!

I have just seen a bit on the BBC news about these images. They look pretty impressive. I’d like to see NASA release a video on how they process the images. I wonder if they use DSS and Photoshop, or do they have secret software?
They use PixInsight, they showed it on the NASA coverage 😃

The sundial shatters the globe. if the earth rotates from west to east around a fixed point of light that is the sun, it could only mark those hours. Take an apple and stick a toothpick in its center and turn it in front of a flashlight, the shadow it will leave will be that. it should only mark 3 and 9 o'clock. The sundial works because the sun rotates in the sky above us and a flat earth like the hand of a clock. Sorry. they have lied to us. NASA means DECEIVE in Hebrew
1:35 Those are not the same parts of the sky, there was a Hubble image of that cluster that was not as large as the Hubble image shown there.

Nice video. Glad to see how excited all of us amateur astronomers are about this. Too bad the "average" person had to watch a bunch of politicians release the first image.
Every Professor I hear talk about the river images yes they are further away however they are also moving away from us faster than anything else in the image in fact many of the redder ones are seem to be going many times the speed of light away from us

@12:00 Won't be long now till we have an announcement of the discovery of a planet with ~15% molecular oxygen in its atmosphere.
Also, consider for a moment, there's only another 500.000 to 600.000 light-year depth of time beyond JWST's capabilities, to the epoch where there are no 'free' photons that can be observed. This thing is beyond astonishing.

The 2 big bright lights in the middle of the image, the ones without the spikes, are galaxies (or galaxy clusters? Correct me if I’m wrong)
Let’s say a star behind the 2 galaxies is shining its light towards the JWST telescope. That means, inbetween the JWST and the star are the 2 galaxies.
Well, since the 2 galaxies have an enormous mass, they bend space-time. Basically, the light is going towards the back of the galaxies, but the galaxies tell the light to bend around them. We see that as the weird little lines of light

I have basic knowledge when it comes to this so feel free to correct anything I said, or letting me know I explained it well so I’m sure I understand it as well!
From my understanding of the deep field image and hearing commentary the only stars that we can see have the diffraction spikes and are within our galaxy.
All of the other images are galaxies. So there shouldn't be any galaxies in front of stars. When the stars and galaxies are close together as in this image that is an understandable misunderstanding.
@@michaeldeierhoi4096 yes, all the spikes are stars. Maybe some have spikes which are barely visible without zooming in on the image so we think they are galaxies, but the ones with prominent spikes are definitely stars
In the last image (carina nebula) if someone was there floating in space , what will he see using the naked eye?
It would look about the same as the James Webb image but with more gas and dust making it impossible to see most of the stars. For a more naked eye image look up the Hubble image of the carina nebula and that is about what it would look like in real life
From what I know these images are not generated like you would take a photo with your phone. They are mosaics. So I assume you would need to be really far away for it to look like that. Also, the images are edited so scientists can study them with ease. They are stunning but I don't think you would see that with a naked eye.
So that means that Webb will be able to see the atmosphere of proxima b right???
Not only can MIRI detect water on planets it can tell whether it's ice, liquid or steam. How awesome is that!?
That ability alone tells us a lit about a planet's temperature, seasons, length of days, weather patterns etc. Other elements can tell if there's a breathable atmosphere or signs of life by detecting elements like phosphorus. Groovy.

I add a thought that the asteroid belt was a planet that got smashed to bits and the core of that planet travelled to near earth and earth locked it up and now it's our moon what do you think of that idea?

Here's a question I have, if those galaxies are from 13 billion years ago, where are they now? And where ever they are, could we still see their light. Like, theoretically, if we had a high resolution photo of the entire sky, would we be seeing doubles of multiple galaxies?
We dont know where are they now. At the peresent maybe those galaxis is not existing anymore, we only saw what they looked like 13 billion years ago.
@@somatoth4493 a red dwarf star has a lifespan of over a trillion years. So galaxies aren't going anywhere.
@@BlackHei711 A better description then they are "not going anywhere" is that the universe is not only expanding, but that its expansion is accelerating. And galaxies also appear to clump together (as in the Virgo Cluster) and even collide as the Milky Way is moving toward colliding with the Andromeda Galaxy.

If the farther we look equals more distance in time, doesn't that assume we are in the center of the big bang ?
No, because everything is spreading from everything else at least that is how I have heard an astronomer explain it. At the same there are clusters of galaxies drawn together by their immense gravity. Stefan's Quintet is one example.
We looking back in time. Can someone explain. These are no longer there?
Take for example the sun. It is about 94 million miles away or 150 million km. Light from the sun takes about 8 minutes and 20 seconds to travel to earth traveling at the speed of light( 186,000 mph or 300,000 kps). So when we look at the sun we are seeing it as it was 8 minutes and 20 seconds ago. Our closest star outside our solar system is Alpha Centauri which is 4 light years away. We see it as it was 4 years ago pretty much unchanged probably as it would look now. So the further away an object is the further back in time it is.
At 5:30 he is talking about a dying star and the same time he is talking about the JWST showing the images of the evolution of stars - star birth. Is the image shown here have both evolving stars and dying stars? The evolving star that we are seeing now are actually their state 13 billion years ago. What does a dying star at 5:30 signify? it already died and we are seeing its past now?
Yep. Unless the star has evolved into another star or other things. The star can die and gravity rewrap it from my understanding. Kinda pulls it all back together. Sometimes.
The image at 5:30 is of the Southern Ring Nebula which is stated as such in this video. This nebula is in our galaxy and 'only' 2000 light years away.
The dying star at the center is part of a binary star system. What this means is that it will require further explanation by an astrophysicist which should be forthcoming. This is just a preliminary overview.
amazing! however a bit of a mistake. Your Hubble image is not in fact the same image as JWST. The Hubble deep field is not the same as the Hubble image of SMACS 0723

No because we're IN the milky way in the present

I edited the high rez images in DXO photo editing software . I turned the micro contrast way up and its astounding how much more detail is visible. The number of stars and galaxies almost triples. Something a little weird is going on with how NASA edited the images.

I've tried to argue with flat earthers, and nothing will persuade them. Until everybody has space access, flat earthers will still exist.
@@Wonderaven I know! It's impossible convince them to get back into the Matrix after they've been unplugged.
There was a clause in their funding that prevented them from turning the telescope to the earth that would prove once and for all that it's flat. It would cause mass panic if it shattered the illusion that the world was round.
Read Al-Qur'an You will find verses in it that talk about this universe.
This just shows even with this so called incredible space telescope, it still won't answer the number 1 question everyone what's answering, is there anybody out there or are we truly alone!

Only God alone creates all this galaxies, stars, and planets... that we can't even imagine. This shows that what God creates is beyond amazing.
