My first thoughts too, if you’re getting 3 done you should just do all 4 at a cost of what like £135? Still plenty of profit even after that. Not what I expected either. Could have just added an extra 100-200 to the price and for the 4th done too.
@@anthonyhenryhoover9278 yep if I were in the market for that, I'd be much keener if I saw four new and decent tyres as opposed to three. I'm not sure why Matt does this, as he puts so much effort/cost/time into most things. Another thing I don't understand is his readiness to fit cheap crappy aftermarket wheel trims!

I think that version of the Audi TT still looks really smart and I love it in that colour. The build quality stands out. At that time, Audi were winning Le Mans with diesel-powered cars, so a diesel TT makes sense.
Absolute rubbish. I had a Mk 1 225 coupe, and a mk2 v6 3.2 coupe when they were both relatively new with hardly any miles and they were both rubbish. The local dealership had my mk1 more than i did, there was always an issue and don’t get me started on the dash pod issues that most cars suffered from. Pile of 💩
@@EAD_0 interesting - I can’t comment on the MK1 version but I’m surprised you bought a second TT if you had so much trouble with the first. Anyway me and my son both bought second hand MK11 TT’s that we ran for several years and many thousands of miles without a single issue or problem. My son eventually traded his for a Porsche Cayman - now that was a problem child and didn’t hang around for long and was ditched before the warranty expired.
I had intermittent loss of power on the sound system on my Mk2 roadster - ignition switch was replaced to fix it, and trust me, if its the same fault, it is VERY intermittent and won't have gone away. Got my Mk2 in 2013 and still absolutely love it and it doesn't seem to age. Mine's the full fat normally aspirated 3.2 VR6 (these were all Quattro) with the S-Tronic dual clutch transmission and the noise it makes is epic. Even the roadster is surprisingly practical boot wise. Mk2s do have some common faults though. Leather seats often sag, window regulator cables rust and jam (most will have been replaced by now - its possible to get stainless steel cable kits), steering racks can wear badly and go rattly. On the Quattros, the Haldex pump often fails eventually because the filter doesn't usually get changed as part of servicing (you don't get a warning light for this fault - so it's worth code-scanning any Quattro car as it doesn't just affect the TT). On all VW group cars of this era, the alarm sounder internal batteries leak anywhere from 10 years on and wreck the sounder PCB - which again will be picked up with a code scan. On the Mk2 roadster, a bit of galvanic corrosion is common under the rubber seal just aft of the door apertures but can generally be kept at bay, and the roof flap servos need taking out and stripping down for a clean periodically as grease can work its way from the servo gears onto a carbon potentiometer inside (if the resulting error code isn't dealt with, it can eventually lead to the roof stopping working). The 3.2 will hit 60 in under 6 seconds and you can get a good one for under £5K now as they don't attract the premium of the TTS or TTRS, and you tend to get stuffed a bit on road tax. This TDI looks similarly good value, and worth £4K of anyones money.
I’ll also add one for the roadsters - please check your drains. I learnt this the hard way, came back off holiday to find a car more akin to a swamp. I’d tried to clean the drains with soapy water before but it’s not enough if it’s already blocked.
My mk2 2008 roadster was terrible. One of the most unreliable cars I have ever owned. It had a constant leak through one of the doors into the carpet which two garages could not fix. In the end the last straw for me was the roof material was coming away from the rear window glass in places.

The Mk2 has less tech but feels a bit more tactile. The mk3’s I had were a basic 1.8 (underpowered and lacked the good tech of the Mk3 eg virtual dashboard) and a TTS which was powerful, very nice but, for the money, I found underwhelming. The Mk2 is in that sweet spot where a 2.0 petrol is more than quick enough, makes a nice sound, feels a bit smaller than the Mk3 and the price of them makes you feel like you are beating the system. In some ways the Mk3 is a bit too grown up. Perhaps when they become bargains I will feel different about them. The TT, the Mk2 especially, is a cosy little coupe to be in. that's a whole lot of car for just 2,000 pounds, remember milage doesn't matter if the vehicle is maintained and gets all it's checks it can do crazy numbers.
Love this, a lot of car for the money, all depends on what you want/need but safe comfortable reasonably quick, economic car - I'd go for this over a 5 door hatch for the money.
How long into the drive through London would it be until someone snatched that go pro off the bonnet... Great video as per usual... nice throwback to the old videos that started within the car and exterior is done after... 😊😊
Funnily enough, I had exactly the same issue with my Passat which was booked in for a service. I asked them to also look at a suspected rear wheel bearing, but the day before I handed it in, I had two new rear tyres fitted and the noise disappeared. Result! Think you did right not having the wheels refurbed, they look mint as is.
Wow ! Did not realize these came in a TDI in the UK. Surprised me for a sports car. I think 4K is definitely the price point with this car. Good luck !
I’m not really into a derv little coupe, but goodness that looks good for less than £3k spend. Nice colour, very smart interior, surely worth £4k. Enjoyable video as ever 👍👍
3995 seems fair as the FSH somewhat offsets the mileage. Thought you were not supposed to mix old and new tyres on Quattro but probably just something they say on forums. Good content as always.
We love TT's my wife has had two Mk2 TT's and I agree the design still looks quite fresh - probably helped by the fact that the Mk3 didn't look very different. Think you did OK with that one although a diesel TT seems a bit of contradiction in terms to me. The broken bonnet catch is very common not a great design. I would have thought 4k was a reasonable price it looked very presentable when you had finished with it. 👍

Get your overalls on Matt and spend four hours of your life ad £35 refurbing those upgraded 19” Le mans wheels, it won’t necessarily add any value but it will go massively towards a quick sale. Interestingly wheels are one of the first things people look at when viewing a car and the number 1 leverage point along with tyres when trying to get a discount 🤷
Came for the massively overspent moment, Left satisfied, just. Yet again you're being depressingly sensible ;) Thanks for the content - looks like a lovely motor. I think it's tragic how the bottom has fallen out of the market for any car that isn't ULEZ friendly.
Interesting when you mention dog hairs. I would like a small sports car with ability to carry my German Shepherd and grandson behind me. This would do it. I did not know they had so much rear room. I foolishly thought they were only two seats. Lovely colour and wheels. Cheers.
I really think they ignored the price just for the label. No matter the quality, nothing on this planet is worth $15,000 a bag. But I spent 200 on a super treasure from kislux and I no longer blame people who buy fakes.
Great video as usual. £80 for a wheel bearing sounds very cheap. Does that include labour as well? The last I had done on a Toyota Prius cost vastly more than that.
If I bought it, I'd negotiate that you replace the 4th tyre so they all match. 😅
£4k for that is fair. Clean, straight, full history, s line, Quattro, fresh test and new tyres. Still looks modern. Hard to argue with that really.

that's a whole lot of car for just 2,000 pounds, remember milage doesn't matter if the vehicle is maintained and gets all it's checks it can do crazy numbers.
Bonnet release snapped for me too when I went to view my TT 😂 luckily it’s a cheap and easy fix 👍
Used to have this car on the same plate and engine. Nice car and particularly loved that the rear spoiler pops up when you hit 70mph
77mph I think actually.
@@tree267Just googled it, 75 mph apparently so we were both wrong. Hope you can live with that
No doubt your local traffic officer knows exactly what speed they open at 🤔😂
@@br164 then my speedo is wrong because it’s much nearer the 80 mark than 75.
Love this, a lot of car for the money, all depends on what you want/need but safe comfortable reasonably quick, economic car - I'd go for this over a 5 door hatch for the money.
3.5k to 4k
Plus Audis run forever if looked after.
Plus with it being a Quattro it’s good for the winter.
How long into the drive through London would it be until someone snatched that go pro off the bonnet...
Great video as per usual... nice throwback to the old videos that started within the car and exterior is done after... 😊😊
I can binge your vids for hours!
I think Matt says the same about your videos…not THIS Matt obviously 😉
Funnily enough, I had exactly the same issue with my Passat which was booked in for a service. I asked them to also look at a suspected rear wheel bearing, but the day before I handed it in, I had two new rear tyres fitted and the noise disappeared. Result!
Think you did right not having the wheels refurbed, they look mint as is.
Mint if you squint :-)
@denisripley8699 Well yeah, mint for a lick'n'spit job. And saving the £300 the full refurb would have cost. 😄
All diesel TTs were quattro. My wife had one for 10 years and loved it. It swallows 2 sets of golf clubs, and trolleys with ease.
No they weren’t the MK3 do front wheel drive and 4WD!
@@Suggs2011 The pertrols were fwd or quattro, the deisels were all quattro.
@@kerwinrobertson4064 wrong!!
Also please learn to spell. It’s 2024 spell check.
Wow ! Did not realize these came in a TDI in the UK. Surprised me for a sports car. I think 4K is definitely the price point with this car. Good luck !
Nice car well worth the 4k price especially with the full service history good luck with the sale 👍
Nice car, worth 4k of anyone's money.. 99% of cars that age look dated, this one is still up there. 👍👍
Golf still looks good. Funnily enough, they're the same underneath
I’m not really into a derv little coupe, but goodness that looks good for less than £3k spend. Nice colour, very smart interior, surely worth £4k. Enjoyable video as ever 👍👍
Definitely a strong 3.6k - 4k car with good photos and a thorough description etc !
£3500 for me 😊
3995 seems fair as the FSH somewhat offsets the mileage. Thought you were not supposed to mix old and new tyres on Quattro but probably just something they say on forums. Good content as always.
Auto boxes I think need Matching tyres other wise you destroy the gearbox, X5s are a good example!
Great video HPA, great car, becoming a classic, definitely just under the four grand mark, great work matt👌👍😀
Although diesels aren't seen as sporty, it's more practical whilst you can still have some fun!
I had a Golf in that colour which was LC7V, really nice colour same engine and still going strong when I sold it at over 200k.
This mood in here is everything!
mat there’s a radio station called three counties radio it’s in hertfordshire they are brilliant in doing this stuff ie, debt collectors and company s who bully and cheat and they really get too the bottom of stuff i listen every day about consumers rights he is brilliant and won’t cost a penny as they speak about that company online and show them for what they are and companies don’t like that so it’s all sorry s and money back even please try it will work ❤
I'm unfamiliar with TDi TT's. Never even heard of. Anyway, nice car and another good job.
It looks a lot classier in this colour than the oft seen red.
They are lovely looking cars fair play. I'm thinking about getting one, maybe even a TFSI S LINE. Shall I go for it?
Came for the massively overspent moment, Left satisfied, just. Yet again you're being depressingly sensible ;) Thanks for the content - looks like a lovely motor. I think it's tragic how the bottom has fallen out of the market for any car that isn't ULEZ friendly.
A lot of car for the money. Maybe high miles but full service history and as always well sorted.
I would have put 4 new tyres on it (looks better and makes more sense than just 3) and put it up for sale @ £4,250
Interesting when you mention dog hairs. I would like a small sports car with ability to carry my German Shepherd and grandson behind me. This would do it. I did not know they had so much rear room. I foolishly thought they were only two seats. Lovely colour and wheels. Cheers.
Good looking car with great build quality.
I had this exact car, really miss it and it was a really nice engine and enjoyed looking after it. £3995 is a bargain.
With a fourth new tire (I can hardly believe you took that shortcut Matt 😮) it's easily a 3 and a half grand car.
If I had the spare cash I’d have this as a winter TT to complement my mk3 S Line. Looks very clean
I really think they ignored the price just for the label. No matter the quality, nothing on this planet is worth $15,000 a bag. But I spent 200 on a super treasure from kislux and I no longer blame people who buy fakes.
if you listen very carefully i think he mentioned the millage, i think it was 150k but i cant be certain
Great video as usual. £80 for a wheel bearing sounds very cheap. Does that include labour as well? The last I had done on a Toyota Prius cost vastly more than that.
Ah, at 15:18...head up to your favourite little scenic spot....make sure you don't go after 9 o'clock at night 😉😉🦮🦮
Bonnet catches are notorious for breaking on these Audi TTs. My son's replaced his at least 2x
Love the way Matt always gives the full price......... like 74p is important when youve just lashed over 700 quid..😂😂😂
Just add a £1000 for every mile it’s done over your cost.nice car
