- In this video I give a full in depth tour of a rough high mileage 1993 Lincoln Town Car. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

My 1993 lincoln towncar was given to me by my grandma with 230,000 miles and its in great shape and runs strong.. poor old towncars never get the appreciation they used to😞
My 94 has 796 000 miles and still going strong
Alex Cerullo You probally serviced it every day
WilliamXtreme oh ya I serviced it and I but eghsauts in it I still have the thing and it's ready to die it has 860000 miles and I have to send it to a junkyard because the thing barely starts and when it starts it runs for about 5 min
How did you drive 64k miles in 5 months??
retired taxi and I got the thing when it was at 795000
still have it and had to get a new engine but still Ante at the junkyard
When you said it was in rough condition I thought "Hmm, doesn't look that bad from the front."
...Then I saw the back O___O
that poor town car didn't deserve this.
+1 neglect kills these far quicker than age/normal wear. The vinyl tops always go bad on these unless they're kept out of the rain and out of the sun. Pretty easy to remove the vinyl top and convert to good old painted steel roof if need be, just a bunch of screws on the doors and roof that holds the trim and top on. Once those are out, you just peel the top off and weld the holes shut. Or tape them shut if you're lazy like me and don't want to pay for body work yet, haha.
Tf Jr I agree
Andrew Samy definitely
Ikr so sad
Enough with the negative comments! This a pretty darn good testimony for a Town Car! No wonder they love em in the big cities because they're tough and last! Kyle, if you can find one from the 70s that would really be awesome!
i just bought a 93' lincoln town car, omgosh it rides awesome, smooth n i love it.
Congrats! Nice ride.
Brenda DeCora Shit i just bought a 93 town car this week. It's a tank.
Does it waste a lot of gas??
i love your videos but these kind are the ones i miss the most
agreed
Man does this bring back memories of my moms old 97' Town Car. Ran to 267K miles! One beast of a car.
this is actually what sold me on my town car, it was everything i wanted in a car and i didn't have to get the same car as everybody else. did a few small modifications to it like 1 coat of tint on the tailights and headlights now i have something thats unique but looks classy at the same time.
Needs somebody to show her some love and bring her back to her full glory and she'll be like new.
I used to have a 93 Lincoln Town Car. Mine was the Jack Nick Signature Series. An amazing vehicle! I loved that car. I took very good care of it.., and the previous owner to this TC should be ashamed of him/herself. No excuse for a Lincoln to show that much neglect.
I've always wanted one of these cars
I'm amazed at the condition of those leather seats. I see cars with half that mileage in wrecking yards with ROACHED seats. Only ones that hold up long term are the cloth/velour seats but it wasn't a common option on the '90-'94 generation. Door panel is really nice too the Lincolns were all one piece so they often split and crack along the armrest.
Sounds like it needs a new belt on the front.... those should be replaced every 80,000 or so if I remember the severe duty cycle maintenance scheduling chart. Turned over pretty quick despite being low on gas and with decently high mileage. Probably also needs power steering fluid flushed, brake fluid flushed, etc. Damn shame how someone let the neglect just pile up on this old tank.... happens all the time. My two projects ('89 Grand Marquis and '85 Grand Marquis) are the same way. At some point you gotta put your foot down and say "NO MORE! The buck stops here, I'm not going to let this neglect continue. I'm going to get ahead and stay ahead of the maintenance." I hope whoever your dealership sold the car to has taken care of her. She needs some body work too but nowhere near as most of the ones I come across.
Those wheels are interesting. Can't tell if they're the 15 inch Lincoln lacy spoke or the coveted 16 inch HPPs! If they're the latter you are set for brake upgrades down the road, see below.
Last of the real Town Cars right here in my eyes. The decontenting began in '95 with the door panels. All the stuff that makes the newer Town Cars drive better (big brakes, suspension improvements, etc.) can be done to the '90-'94 cars. '92-'94 are easiest to work with because they have the disc brake rear end like all the '92 panthers have. With 16 inch wheels, '98-'02 big brake kit front and rear will bolt up. Also sway bars, polyurethane bushings, etc. will bolt up. Heavy duty coil springs, KYB Gas-A-Just monotube shocks bolt on from '79-'02, and so on. I could go on and on but you get the point. I'm on the fence whether to get one of these or a '94-'96 bubble B platform station wagon.... already have two projects already but I can't get enough of late model old iron like this. :)
Wow amazing information man! I just bought a 93 towncar with 109k miles! It works well just lights stay on (might be due to an electrical issue) what advice do you recommend to maintain and maintenance it?
I've owned a near 200K Town Car and honestly, this one sounds pretty good. I'd buy it as a functional beater for around $500. That engine still has life left in it.
It took me all the way to 4:18 in this video to realize you're in my home town. Crazy.
And that you're at the auction where I bought my first car lol
Man these old ford panthers just don't die! I picked up a '96 crown vic lx with 150k miles for $800 and problems have been few and far in between and it's a joy to work on.
Ford and lincoln American and they better than Chrysler and GM
+Mia Jackson GM is better than Lincoln and Ford
My uncle had this car a few years ago. his had burgundy interior & white exterior paint. it was in good condition.
For some reason, I like when you make videos of these beat up cars also...good video.
10:24 "Seats are comfortable... a malfunctioned glove box [lets it drop down]" love it!!!! great stuff!!!
I like your reviews! keep up with it!!
My 1990 Town Car with a 302 had 413k when I sold it and it was still running strong. I miss my 89 Mark VII more though
@Armando Sturzenegger
302's were no joke.
4.6L is an amazing motor
you can always count on a Ford to start in the morning does not matter what the conditions are a Ford will ALWAYS get you where you need to go!
On a tow truck these days
Wow what a find. Growing up we had a '92 crown vic. very similar except for the dash. What a car.
the engine sounds crazy !
Wow, that's a lot of miles!
Town Cars are such beautiful cars! Probably getting one soon.
My friend's 01 Lincoln Town car was a former cab. Has 830,000kms on the clock or over 500,000 miles!!! Floats like a balloon but keeps on going.
Engine sounds fantastic, squeaky belts notwithstanding.
shame to see what was once such a nice car in such sad shape :( great video as always kyle, keep up the good work :)
yay!!! first one!!! i love your reviews kyle!!keep up the good work!!
Great video as always Kyle! BTW, you in theory can run a car on one gallon...my sister and I a couple years ago went to Nebraska, and she was on her fuel light, we figured out that she had one gallon left when we stopped to fuel up. Gotta love those old Town Cars.
I give lots of credit to this car. It had a long life
TownCars run forever, thats for sure!
I'm actually thinking of importing a 1994 Signature model of the Town Car into Australia when i get my full license.
those lincolns are indestructible!
94's make great lowriders
Wouldnt really take much to get it back to good shape... At least it's all their. Up here you cant find one with rockers or dog legs. I'd take that one any day. Rip that shitty top off of it, ix the hinges, new trunk and new belts and it would be nice again. Or nicer.
The way these cars are designed leads to water traps. The frenched rear window cars in the previous generation (called "box" or "square" body cars colloquially) traps rust right on the middle of the roof under the fiberglass shell and stainless steel trim. Will be dealing with that problem on my '85 Grand Marquis come summer.
Then there's the AC codnenser positioning above the pass side frame rail. Very very common structural rust problem area there, condenser drips onto the rail, rusts it from the inside out. Solution is to check regularly or delete the AC. I opt for the latter on all my panthers, saves weight and it's one less failure point.
Then there's all the trim. The Lincolns had a bunch of it, right along the bottom of the doors, rockers, etc. Drain holes can get clogged easily already, then you can get shit trapped behind the trim and body cladding (happens all the time on these cars) and you won't know it's there until it's too late. I always delete the trim to be safe. Also saves weight, haha.
Hearsesrock427 I love the 85 marquis :) I've been trying to find an early 80s Marc or Lincoln. Love um. Probably have to find one down south and go get it. Up here it's all too late for the ones I've seen...
You've seen the videos? Wow, didn't think my stuff was well known, haha.
There's a guy with an '82 Bill Blass Mark VI (you know, the red and white exterior with white leather seats?) one town over from me. I'm outside of Rochester NY for reference. Had some major rust on the body but the bumpers and frame were okay the last time I checked. Looked into buying it two years ago, guy said he was gonna fix it and then sell it. Buuuuut I don't think that's happened because I never heard back.
Anyway yeah if you're up north it's not going to be easy. Even rusted out examples commonly get demo derbied because people just don't give a damn anymore. The pre '85 Town Cars with the big wraparound bumpers are especialy sought after for demo derby because of their longer frames and heavier bodies. Like all the big bumper box panthers they have drainage problems, and it's common to see the faceplates rotted out from the inside. I got really lucky with my big bumper '85 Grand Marq both the front and rear checked out.
There are only a couple big bumper panthers left from what I've seen around here. I only know of five others... '79 LTD S four door, '84 Grand Marquis GS, '85 Grand Marquis GS, '87 Town Car Signature Series, and a '90 Grand Marquis Colony Park LS (has the big rear bumper like all wagons do).
This is my favorite body style for the panther platform.
is there a switch for the air suspension or is it automatic
For a car in that condition it starts pretty good
+Cobra123 This car is well worth putting some money and new parts into it. These were the last real Lincoln's!!! Ford needs to start making Real Lincoln's again just like this Town Car. This was a very good era for Ford, GM and Chrysler.
I smiled when I heard the motor start as if it was new :).
Kyle when you let your drivers window down, mine does the same thing, cept it won't go down, Maybe the motor is going out. But these old Lincolns are Phenominal. With a good tune up, I would drive this car anywhere
I have a car just like this. I love it. Its huge, and I don't really care for that. But after driving it a while. I love it so much. I'm spoiled driving this car. Just drove my daughters car. It looks nice, but my car drives awesome. Hers does not ride smooth like mine. Love it Love it, Love it!
Amazing car
@Maserati7200 Why do American cars always beep? Here in the UK, only the interior light comes on if you open the doors.
Mileage is no excuse for this car to look so terrible. I have a 99 TC with 225k miles (mostly driven by myself) and it looks almost new. Stupid non-caring owners are the cause for this. But despite the neglect,it lasted almost 300k miles, does not seem to be rusty and not leaking oil as far as I can see.
I'm going to Seattle to get one of those tomorrow with under 80'000 miles on it a one owner car.
I love Lincoln Town Cars ... I have a Town Car Executive Series 1999 with 238k and I bought it with 30k .... in NY
Those seem to be great engines.
I just picked up a 91 Town car with 180k Miles on it. If I see how this one here runs with that kind of miles, it encourages me of mine lasting a lot longer. I'll take good care of it.
How's it going 5 years on?
"PIECE OF CRAP" ? Car is still running at nearly 300,000 miles!
I don't know why people call these crap. they are reliable as fuck. even more than the overrated German cars .
Andrew Samy You should try a 300 series Mercedes diesel from the 80s very reliable
Evan Demaree. I have a 98 16999. Thousand. Miles great car
CloroxBleach hell yeah that's like one of the most reliable engines in the world, also the 4.6 v8 by Ford is one of the most reliable engines in the world
theres a reason the 4.6 was put into the f150
Hey, can you help me with that? I'm looking into a used 1993 in excellent condition with 25k for only $3,350. Should i go for it as a first car?
That car had 289,000 miles on it. This video was uploaded 12 years ago!! What I want people in the comments to do is to take a guess on how many miles it has now wherever it is.
@gab13005 the belt slipping when the power steering pump starts to get harder to turn.
I know your comments quite old but there is a switch in the trunk for the air suspension, only time it ever has to be off is if your going to jack the car up. that's what the manual says anyways.
i had 1994 and i straight piped it, no mufflers, no cat converter. It sounded like a monster truck.
Ko-wing wong I got a 92 straight piped with headers
Just bought a 97 Lincoln Town Car Presidential series, new black top White, w Black leather 110k One OWNER!! its so comfy... i hope it makes 267k! i baby it... seafoaming it today!
I'm always interested in old cars and see how they evolved, plus 2000-2008.
previous owner had issues with the vynal top LOL
definately a nice car, body on frame and V8, a tough car.
just needs some fixing and she'll prob last another 100k
great video as always saabkyle!
Put more licolns town cars and make a test drive with an town car!Thank you for sharing!
does this have the 5 or 4.6 L V8????
Kyle, may I ask you a question? How do you find these cars? Who are the owners of these? This Lincoln doesnt look so bad, actually.
I have a 2000 crown vic with close to 200k still runs like new. Ford rules.
LetsPlayCassics upon requests
I agree
Let's agree to disagree I am a General Motors lover but I will give Ford some appreciation as well they did make nice Panther body cars
what's that noise when u turn the wheel ?!
the engine on the 1989-1997 Lincoln Town Car
Engine
1990: 4.9 L (302 cu in) 5.0L Windsor V8
1991-1997: 4.6 L (281 cu in) Modular SOHC V8
how many miles, whats the price, and other info please?
Love Towncars, i have a '95 with 152,000 on it now, got it with 132,000 on it, it burns some oil but it hasnt died yet :)
This car as definitely seen some better days.
Wow. I have a '91 Town Car with 33k original miles. I have never been a fan of the padded tops on the 90+ models. I also had a '95 with 240k miles.
I wonder if that's a magnaflow or flowmaster dual tip (each side) exhaust system??
Look big enough to fit the new 5.0 V8's ;)
I've got a 94 with almost 200k... Nice to know it can last so much longer
most expensive repair to mine so far was 10 bucks for a brake switch, but i knew right away what it was.
Do the Cadillac DeVille infront of it as-well! I love those cars.
Can I buy The Linc emblem from the hood
You get a glove box! and you get a glove box.
YES :D
mine has the jbl sound system in it, the easiest way is to look in your trunk and see if there is an odd shaped box back kinda mounted up on the back seat, theres also an amp on each side of it too. little bit late on this but maybe it will be good reference for someone with the same question. also... if that 8 inch sub ever blows good luck finding another one. this happened and i didn't want the box floating around in the trunk soooo liquid nails FTW.. haha
Did you buy it
+saabkle04 you still got it??
That car has seen better days :D
I had a 97 town car just like that one. The only difference was the steering wheel. I would have loved to have that exhaust on mine.
My grandfather's got a '94 like this, but in Tan with Red Leather interior. Has 75K on it.
Poor thing, what in the world happened to the verday vinyl rear top?!?!
how much u want 4 the dual exhaust
There's nothing like driving this land yacht around town. This car has the 4.6L V8, just like my 95 grand marquis. After driving one of these, you'll never drive anything else.
I LOVE IT,,THANKS IS THIS A PRESIDENTIAL STYLE
@nahteconnor Trunk Release Button?
nice car!
My 96 was about in that condition, only it had been in a roll-over
damn....that towncar is in rough shape....all it needs is some TLC and that thing will be clean and like new!
the previous owner should be very ashamed of themselves to let their car get into such a condition.
I have a 1993 Lincoln Towncar Executive with 314,000 miles. My dads baby.
Check the carfax! Also take a look at the vinyl on the roof. if it looks warn it's not been garaged. if it isn't perfectly placed the car may have been hit and not fixed properly
do you know what the yellow button in the glove box was?
Connor Westenfield trunk button
Id take it and keep it the way it is she's a beautiful car the way it is
What is that noise, Kyle?
yea... what a car.
O man, 289K miles? That's a lot of miles there yo. Hey I got a 93 Cadillac Deville, and it got 218K miles on it, but it needs a motor put in. Nice Lincoln though man.
2:42 In my school student of boy his name is Lincoln Lim from Singapore
Haha this video is awesome! This cars got a lot of charactor!!
My first car
yeah. torque is why it feels so fast, because its abundant in that department.
