    I remember being in hospital during my visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I was getting hungry after a night running through a bag of IV and while in a common ward, a group of sikh men approached everyone in a polite manner handing them hot naan, chicken marsala, lentil curry and spinach stuffed pastries. I was especially moved by their gesture for strangers! I will never forget that and it was definitely one of the best visits I've had

    It is a life goal to visit these nice people at least once in my life (said this before for sure!) and enjoy!
    I've been encouraged by many Indian people to visit, welcoming even before being there! That shows the spirit! These people know where it's at! Indian people also know the best veggie dishes! I really hope to visit sometime and embrace the culture and welcoming people! #wonderfullculture

    I am a Malaysian Hindu. But, I just can't help but admire Sikhism and the Sikhs for their generosity and kindness in feeding people, regardless of colour or creed. Other religions do too, but not on the scale and frequency as this. Maybe they are well financed or funded, I really don't know?. But look at their numbers and compare them to Hindu population in India. It's amazing and mind boggling. Anyway, they are probably the most hardworking, proud and humble people I know. Bless them and I pray towards their continued efforts to feed people. If all religions follow their example, there won't be hungry people in the world.

    • @djs9415
      @djs9415 5 років тому +2

      This community kitchen started up in 1601 in Amritsar. It has never stopped since then, because feeding the poor is a part of Sikhism and tradition. They could not care less about funding or finances, because volunteers provide food or everything else, from the 10% of hard-earned money, which they have earned and which goes in the feeding of the poor. Since then, 24 x 7, wherever you go, if there is a sikh guru dwaara - door of the master - called a temple in English, it does not matter whether you are a Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, of any race of any class, caste, creed, financial status, you can eat free meals.
      Volunteers give service when they cannot pay with material goods, just in case you do not have a job and you are not earning. Sikhs never beg. They never asked for charity ever, they will never ask it, because they are a very proud people, serving you with humility. To beg you to donate money means that they are not earning enough to feed the poor. They will never do this ever.

    That is so wonderful❤🙏 Thanks to God. My family knew an Indian family in 1972 in Cal. They let us stay a few days with them. They had won dishes from my husbands concession stand on the Carnival. They were Hindu.

      The Golden Temple was truly incredible, for any person, it's the experience of a lifetime. I can still remember the light coming in through the windows of the sanctum and the food I ate there. We would live in a better world if we had more Sikhs and less of the pushy, violent religions. I even kept the orange head scarf!

    Langar real purpose is to have people rich/poor,colors, caste, creed, language, etc to come sit down in a disciplined way and eat. This is a protest against Caste system where people of higher caste would not eat with people of lower caste. It teaches many things 1. Volunteering 2. Sharing 3. equality 4. Love etc
