1. SHRI GURU KUTTURESHWARA BUTTER DOSA HOTEL: Benne Dosa (Butter Dosa)
ADDRESS: Medical College Road, Opp Bapuji Dental College & Hospital, MCC B Block, Kuvempu Nagar, Davanagere, Karnataka 577004
OPEN: 7:30AM - 9:30PM
BENNE DOSA: Make batter by mixing rice, refined flour and ground lentils. Make pancake like structure on the wood fired griddle and add lots of butter. Cook until golden brown. Serve with potato mash, wet coconut chutney and dry coconut chutney.

2. THE AKSHAYA PATRA FOUNDATION: The World’s Largest School Lunch Programme has expanded its services from 1,500 beneficiaries to over 1.7 million beneficiaries over the course of 18 years. In 2016, they reached a cumulative 2 billion meals provided. In all, they have served 3 billion meals since its inception in 2000. They serve freshly cooked food and nutritious meals to 1.7 million children in 36 locations across 12 states in India. Currently, they implement the mid-day meal programme in 14,173 schools of the country.
Shri Chanchalapathi Dasa, the foundation’s Vice President, has been working in the field of spiritual education since 1984 and social development since 2000. Although he had been passionate about science since his schools days, he was introduced to Indian spirituality as an undergraduate student in PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. Impressed by the profound concepts of spirituality, he pursued the same even more vigorously while doing his master’s program in Electrical Communication engineering at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
He combined his values of compassion from his spiritual learning with his education in technology and applied the same to create a social development organization like The Akshaya Patra Foundation.

What I found from wiki is akshay patra(sanskrit) is translated to "inexhaustible vessel", an object from ancient hindu text given by sun god surya to yudhistira. This vessel held a never ending supply of food to the pandavas( the mahabharat guys). I just donated 2000 dollars. Keep up the good work. Respect from US.

@@abcd-sx4vs The food they served was nutritious. Khichdi is a porridge made from lentils and rice, lentils are a great source of plant protein, rice is a good source of carbs. Also, it's common for Indian lunches to not include bread, and as they said, the menu changes every day to include a wide variety of food

i love what Akshaya patra does for poor children boys and girls who cannot afford to eat a good nutritious meal. i have donated $ 2500 and now donate monthly from my paycheck........but all that i do is not anywhere close to what the organization does .........they are hare Rama hare Krishna foundation and they do immense work for the poor and the hungry little ones.

Its funny I am from the U.S. people complain about our school food. Granted its not the healthiest, this is so amazing. Either way I still miss the crappy pizza, and spagetti from my elementary school. So lucky, to just have food. This is awesome INDIA!

@@popflorals it is free, if your household income is low enough, or half off. Even then I think it only costed 90 cents in the 90s, my father had to pay but it wasn't much. In summer the schools opened the cafeteria for breakfast and lunch, and that was free for all kids. I live in texas, this might not be the case all over the u.s.

Many people will sue, complain to food regulators in cities or basically not donate enough to run it.

I am one of the privileged person who used to eat this mid day meal during my school days and after passing public service exams i got chance to monitor this same mid day meal scheme at district level.

All media world over have an agenda now. In India the current trend is to oppose the BJP government, for which they get funded well. The news they peddle is always dark and negative. However, anyone travelling in India will be pleasantly surprised that its anything but negative.
