Hei it is Hashmat from Norway. I have one question about servo AF why if i have a 50fps on video mode AF servo not working and if i use small size as 25 fps AF servo working Thanx
Hi, Hashmat! As the EOS 5D Mark IV offered here in the United States may have different specifications, we recommend contacting our colleagues at Canon Norge for support. You can find them on the web at canon.no Hope this helps!
Hi, Tony! If you're referring to the manual exposure mode, denoted by the letter "M" on the mode dial, then yes, you can do this in Manual. If you're referring to the manual focus option on your lens, then the answer is no. As the function's name implies, all of the autofocus features on your EOS 5D Mark IV require your lens to be in automatic focus ("AF") mode. We hope this helps!
Hi! Multiple lenses were used in this video, some of which are clearly visible, including the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM and the EF 50mm f/1.4. Hope this helps!
Is it possible to use a wired remote or wireless remote and have a button programmed for turning the auto servo on and off. Would be useful when on a steadicam or gimbal
Hi David. It is possible to use a wired or wireless remote with the EOS 5D Mark IV, but it is not possible to program a button on the remotes to toggle Movie Servo AF. However, when Movie Servo AF is active, you can pause the AF on-camera by pressing the or buttons. Pressing the button again will resume AF. We hope this helps.
What I want is for the entire scene to be IN FOCUS. I shoot primarily theatrical productions. This means there are people in the background and the foreground, both of which need to be IN FOCUS. I'm I'm shooting at 1/50 / 24P F/11, will that happen?
You can if you want, Liz, especially if the scene you're capturing has changing light conditions. If the lighting conditions don't change, though, then picking an ISO means your camera doesn't have to work as hard. Hope this helps!
we've been having issues with the AF face priority - not sharp on interview subjects faces - various lenses - various lighting scenarios - we tap - and it still seems to be soft when we get footage back on broadcast monitor. thoughts?
Hello: A number of factors can affect Face Detect AF. It may not work if the face is very small or very large in the picture, too bright or too dark, or partially hidden. The system may not be able to detect a face if the face is significantly out of focus. Our camera support agents would be happy to troubleshoot the issue with you. You can reach them at 1-800-652-2666 Monday-Friday: 9:00 am to 9:00 pm ET, Saturday: 9:00 am to 7:00 pm ET, excluding holidays. We hope this helps.
Hi, Rick! As it's an older model, our channel doesn't feature any videos specific to the EOS 5D Mark III. You can learn more about its autofocus features via its manual which you'll find at canon.us/3bRl8qW Hope this helps!
Hi there! This is accomplished using a feature called Movie Servo AF. This this function enabled, the camera focuses on the subject continuously during movie shooting. You can enable it under the [SHOOT 4] tab in the menu. We hope this helps!
Super helpful video. And side note - this guys voice sounds like Jim Carrey in a Series of Unfortunate Events when his character Count Olaf is pretending to be a guy named Stephano XD
What am I doing wrong? All videos have a shudder to them while the camera changes focus while tracking? If the subject moves across the scene it seems the focus tracking stages appear in the shot and so it shudders while tracking and this is on a fixed tripod while I move from side to side?
Hi there. This is most likely caused by the panning motion in the video. When panning too quickly at lower frame rates, this can become more pronounced. Try planning the next shot, or a test shot for practice, with a slower panning motion for a smoother look. We hope this helps.
CanonUSA Thank you I will give it a try, did not think I could pan any slower but I now see from other post that else where discussing stutter issues, panning and speeds. I’ll try all. Thx
The answer is.... Do not play back test video or any video through Lightroom as it shows all the lens refocussing as a stutter. I uploaded a video to UA-cam to show you but when I did the stutter does not exists and does not in Adobe Premier, so seems my issue goes away if I use dedicated video software and not something like Lightroom ideally for photos.
Is Dual pixel automatically selected or does it need to be selected in photo mode first as i cant see that option in video mode? Excellent video too, straight to the point! :-) Well done!
Hello Kitty: The movie servo AF function described in the video was released on the Mark IV camera and is not available on the Mark III. If you have more questions, our camera support team is happy to help. You can reach them via your My Canon Account at canon.us/account We hope this helps.
Hi Randy. These functions become settable when [Movie Servo AF] is set to [Enable] and [AF method] is set to [FlexiZone - Single]. When set to [FlexiZone - Multi], these are set to a standard setting of zero. We hope this information helps!
Hi, Marie! While there are a number of third-party rigs available to keep your camera steady while you're in motion, you'll definitely want to start with a Canon lens equipped with image stabilization. That can go a long way in keeping everything smooth. Hope this helps!
@@CanonUSA 👍thanks a lot for your quick reply . I have already a lens equiped but it's not enough unfortenaltely. Is Canon partner with some specific rigs knowing I need something light because I am travelling with a backpack ?
Will an STM lens focus automatically the same way as USM Lens. I use the camera on a gimbal and could really do with a light lens. Was thinking of the 40mm f2.8 pancake which would be ideal for a gimbal mounted camera. Just not sure about movie servo af. Thank you.
Hi, Graham! Since the autofocus function is controlled by the camera, USM lenses and STM lenses will operate identically when focusing. The difference between the two is that the STM system allows for quieter operation and significantly faster response times. That makes STM lenses ideal for use during movie recording. We hope this helps!
When allowing the camera to focus automatically during video, the noise from the lens can be heard, even when using a separate mic. How do I prevent this? It's so loud the video clips are ruined, all you can hear is the lens focusing and refocusing as the subject moves.
Hi there! The focusing motors in some lenses can be heard more than others. This is normal. Some lenses are built more for this purpose, like our STM lenses. This includes the EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens. The stepper motor is more smooth and quiet during continuous autofocus, minimizing or eliminating noise in the video. We have another video that explains this more. Check it out! ua-cam.com/video/VOxrkY6lFZo/v-deo.html We hope this helps!
Hi, how does the camera handle DP AF when another subject crosses in front of the subject you are following? And how does it handle zooming in while following someone in DP AF? Thanks
Hi Ben! It does rather well in both cases. The tracking sensitivity can even be increased or decreased to fit the shooting conditions. Our team of experts will be happy to help you with the different autofocus features in more detail if you'd like. You can reach them at Canon.us/ContactYT We hope this helps!
Thanks again. I got my camera and it seems to work fine! Another question though: Any thoughts on using ND filters while filming in very bright conditions on max aperture (4 - 1.4)? Will the AF (with tracking) work when using an (variable) ND?
Hello again! Using ND filters is sometimes necessary in bright conditions, but since there should be plenty of light available for a good exposure, even through the ND filters, there should be plenty there to for the AF system to work with. The camera will focus using the maximum available aperture anyway to ensure it has the most light for the best focusing accuracy. We hope this answers your question!
Hello: We are not provided with advance notice on new product releases. The best way to find the latest official information is to check our Press Release website. All official release announcements and news will be posted there. Here is a link: Canon.us/8d99v. We hope this is useful.
Hi, The camera’s built-in microphone will also record the operation sound and mechanical sound of the camera during recording. Please refer to page 364 of the 5D Mark IV manual. We hope this helps
Hi Aria. The Q button on the touch screen appears when you are shooting using the LCD as the viewfinder. If you are using the optical viewfinder, the physical Q button next to the LCD will serve the same purpose. We hope this helps.
