This is a 3 part series on tips on foundation. This deals with the concept of "adding" in order to take away. The goal (i believe) is to have skin that looks amazing. The emphasis being on skin. Skin that looks like skin but better. Flawless. Amazing. Stunning but not FOUNDATION! And not INSTAGRAM FOUNDATION. I want your skin to look amazing and not like its covered in makeup. For this tip you will need the following:
A: Liquid Foundation or Tinted moisturiser or a Cream Foundation.
B: Oil. Either Jojoba or Almond Oil.
Apply one drop of either either onto your cream foundation or mix a drop of oil in with your liquid foundation (one pump).
Then apply. You skin will glow. Your skin will look like skin and you'll name your first born after me ;)
Thumbs up if you read all of this and share if you really want to make me smile from ear to ear!
I learnt this tip from Scott Barnes - I highly recommend you go to a seminar :) The next one is in in LOS ANGELES Jan 31st, 2015

No matter what kind of makeup tips I wanna get on UA-cam, I always end up watching your videos and so far you’re the one that teaches me in the best way.
Love your channel!
I NEVER comment on YT videos... but, in this case, I literally HAD to... I did this today (added a drop of oil to my foundation) & I've NEVER, EVER, in ALL my days, loved my makeup more!!! it made my complexion appear legit FLAWLESS. I wish I could fully express how much of an impact this trick will be, for me. seriously. one little drop, no joke, changed everything. also, my makeup lasted the entire night, prior to & throughout my shift... waiting tables...on a busy Friday night...during summer...in humid Atlanta weather. it's 1am rn & it STILL looks flawless! my makeup has NEVER looked this good, not even for 5 mins. let alone, hours & hours. thank you so, SO much, Wayne! Im so happy i could marry you! xxoo 😘😘😘
Which oil did u add to ur foundation pls reply
Jojoba oil changed my life 2 years ago. I started taking off my make up with a jojoba oil cleanse and I also use it as moisturiser at night. My acne was gone in 2 weeks and I never looked back.
That's awesome! Do you prefer a certain brand of jojoba oil? I need to order some
@@amy8486 I use Fushi. I reckon any good quality 100% cold pressed one would do, but I don't want to change brands as this one works so well for me. I even use it in my dry and itchy scalp the night before I wash my hair as a scalp treatment. The stuff is truly amazing.
@@jffpviana sounds incredible! I will give it a try. Thank you ☺️
Omg
I agree with you 💯! It really is amazing! I actually put a couple drops of lavender oil in my bottle so it smells amazing and soothes my skin even more. Blew my mind the first time I put OIL on a few blemishes before bed and they were gone the next morning.🤯
First of all, I want to say that this absolutely works and I'll never apply my foundation any other way again! I have very dry skin that no amount of moisturizer and no amount of exfoliation can seem to conquer. I am also fairly cheap and refuse to purchase a $30 bottle of foundation so I use Revlon color stay liquid foundation. By hour 3, the foundation seems to be melting off of my face in some areas and maliciously revealing my gator skin in others. After hesitantly trying this tip with 100% jojoba oil, my makeup went on BEAUTIFULLY and STAYED beautiful all day and all night ... and since I crashed on a friend's couch last night, I did not manage to wash my face before drifting off to dream land. To my surprise, my makeup was still amazing when I woke up this morning and I thought ... I must tell the world ... O_O
Thank you, fine sir! You've changed my life I'm sure!
I must tell the world.💯💯👍👍🙏🙏
“There’s nothing wrong with that. You can do whatever you want.” We need more people like you in this world!
Can I just say that this is the best piece of advice I have ever received regarding make up? I watched this video last night & today when I put on my foundation I added one drop of oil. I use a mixture of light olive oil with a little bit of melted coconut oil mixed in. I keep it on my nightstand & use a few drops in my moisturizer at night so I already had it handy. The foundation I use is Estée Lauder double wear maximum coverage & it really is a fantastic foundation but being 46 years old I had a difficult time making any foundation look natural on my skin. And it always settled into the pores on my nose. Filling them with foundation & exaggerating them. But I added one drop of oil to my foundation today & it glided onto my skin like silk. I can't believe how easy it made it to apply. And it really did sink into my skin rather than sitting on top of it in a cakey layer. The foundation did not fill in the pores on my nose. Im astounded & so happy. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
***** you're welcome! I hope it works for you :-)
Tried it yesterday & got many compliments...i was told my skin looked smooth and was asked " what did u do 2 ur skin"...unbelievable 🤗
Thank you 😍
Which oil did you use?
@@aribaaftab9023 Heeeeeeey I remember this post 🤗 JOJOBA Oil was what I used. Just a little 💧drop .

Took the words right out of my mouth. 👍👍
Tried this twice and it is amazing - doesn't affect coverage (in fact, I think the coverage is better). Foundation glides on and doesn't look heavy. My 13 year old daughter told me my skin looked nice the second time I tried it!
Jojoba is the carrier oil closest to our skin’s natural sebum, so it’s a good choice for this.
Squaline is
Laura M squaline dried my skin out
@@nailahdukurah3875 yes it can, but squaline is the most natural to your skins own natural oils. So depends what your diet is and how humid your room is
But I heard oil breaks down makeup???????
Nickiii MaR unless if its an oil based makeup, than yea its gonna break it down

A selection of most popular oils I see for beauty is: jojoba, argan, olive, and macadamia oil. All of these are also incredible to wash off your makeup as well. The cool thing is, not only it will remove, clean your face but, since it's "natural" oil, it will condition your skin and you don't really need extra moisturizer. Just make sure if you're using like olive oil, try and get a organic or "real" extra virgin olive oil. Whatever goes directly on your face should be something you invest in the most and carefully selected. Personally, jojoba oil works wonders. It was actually way better than Clarins serum which costs a fortune. And lastly, obviously don't put too much in your mixture, you "will" look like a disco ball.
And those that are wondering about acne, as long as you're using a "natural" oil, it won't clog your pore. It won't cause acne. It will actually stop causing those problems because it energizes your cells, removes dead skin cells, helps stopping your body from creating "extra" oils (this causes acne), kills bacteria, and calms your skin.
Hope this helps :)
Answer to everything that everyone is asking. THANK YOU!!
Riki Matsui I use olive oil. Works perfectly.
Riki Matsui such a great comment and information. Thanks so much. ❤
Can I use sunflower oil?
I tried this with THE cheapest supermarket brand foundation and pure Rosehip oil.....OMG Mr Goss, I couldn't believe the results, the foundation was beautiful to apply, I needed only a fraction of what I would normally use and it did not cake, in fact nobody could believe that I was wearing a foundation that is under $20au....I am definitely going to get some jojoba and try this with my good foundation. I am never going back to the dull look again.I feel pretty x
Omg I've been adding oil to my foundation for months. I thought I was a weirdo. I love the fresh face look. Only just watched this. I feel redeemed. Yes!
Absolutely true! I've been using this technique for months, I'll never do without oil mixed with my foundation ever again, especially for mature skin I love the finish it gives!!!
I saw this video and I immediately thought of you! You were already doing this tip and I tried it because of you. It works!
Which oil do you use?
Hello! I was going to mention you.. but you beat me to it!
I immediately thought of you too, Kristin!
Same here!!
I just love reading comments and seeing people being so helpful to each other sharing ideas and saying good things about the vid makes my day somehow :DD
Yes, I love to read comments about people being helpful and kind to each other.
I know I'm 3 years late but absolutely agree ! Love how everyone is just so nice and encouraging on here😍😍👏🏼
Wayne, I could kiss you! Ladies, I can confirm this trick to be very
true. I however, achieved it accidentally and slightly different but
still with great results. I have combination skin and started cleaning
moisturizing with oil (jojoba, argan and rose hip oil mix) recently. I
wasn't planning on leaving the house that day so wasn't gonna put makeup
on. Then of course I had an unexpected call to go out. So I did my
routine makeup with my liquid foundation and noticed how smoothly the
foundation went on and my skin looked flawless without any extra effort.
Even when I powdered, the powder melted in beautifully without
looking....well, powdery. I really thought I was imagining it until my
friends commented on how good my skin looked. They never comment! So
this trick really does work and I didn't feel or looked oily the whole
day, Yay!
+FairyBeans i noticed the same thing after putting coconut oil on my face and then putting on liquid foundation, made it way easier to apply and blended in so smoothly..:P
i tried this. i have mature skin and acne 'pit' scars. i used IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Foundation and Vitamin E oil. it worked like a charm!! i am always looking for something to make my skin look younger and better. i love love love this method!! thank you so much for the tip!
I am over 60 and just stopped using Estée Lauder double wear. It was aging me. I added a drop of rosehip seed oil to and it absolutely transformed this foundation. My skin looked fabulous. Thank you sir!
Girl's he's also very kind and very humble too.
He is handsome and seems so kind.
Just came across this video and I cannot believe I went this long without knowing this. I tried it with my Estee Lauder Double Wear, which I love the coverage and staying power of, but it's way too matte for me and always looks very dry and dull on my skin and clings to dry spots. Just one drop of oil, and the foundation went on smooth with a gorgeous dewy glow and "shift" to it. And it retained the coverage and staying power that I love. This trick is holy grail for dry and/or mature skin. Amazing. Thank you!
I tried this today...and for the first time in decades, my skin looked flawless, it was like I didn't have any pores. I used rosehip oil and a Shiseido foundation. Loved it! Love you!!
this is exactly what seperates the amatures from the professionals...i think the makeup guru's could learn alot from you cause your in a class of your own wayne. thank you so much for this video cause i always used the method primer, powder then foundation and it gives me perfect flawless look and now i am going to try it this way and see how it goes. You never done me wrong yet on 100% perfect makeup tips :) GOD BLESS YOU
Great tip, I'm sure it'll be helpful to many of your viewers. I have already been doing this..I actually use my Josie maran light oil and mix in about a drop with my foundation. I have combo-oily skin, however the "combo areas" where I have the dry patches of skin really become visible whenever I would apply my foundation on those areas(no matter which foundation I use) so in order to combat that, I have been adding a drop of either Tate maracuja or the Josie maran and then applying it & it goes on flawlessly! So this has been like a holy grail technique for me...I have been doing it for years & I'll NEVER stop!!
What type of foundation do you use mostly?
I routinely mixed a few drops of my Clinique gel moisturizer with my foundation, until my skin changed when I turned 51. Maybe... this is exactly what my skin needs now! I'm excited to try this! Thank you for your tips, your time, and most especially for the 'fresh' you bring to your tutorials- love your style, Mr. Goss!
Ive done this for years it makes your skin look flawless and healthy. Im 45 and wouldnt go with out doing it. It also helps with anti aging. Thank you for all the tips keep them coming. I love your videos.
great tip! i have actually heard and saw this technique many times from korean makeup artists only, they usually mix oil or a serum with foundation with a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio to get a glowy dewy flawless look. i have never tried it before though and now i think i will definitely try it because i trust you!
Hey Wayne, I just want to let you know that I've found your channel remarkably outstanding in content over the years, and what makes it stand out is your explanations to your tips that are so rich in the knowledge that you've received, and that I never have to ask "why" in how the technique is more efficient. I also want to thank you for feeling the need to express this knowledge and teach the community of people that just want to express healthy beautiful skin. Much love xx
I’ve also found that setting foundation with water is also a huge trick instead of setting sprays and to use heavy eye cream and really good moisturizers as primer instead and it works!!! I can’t do this trick in the summer bc my face is so oily, however this is my go too in the winter! You have to know what kind of foundation you have though bc a lot is not compatible with oil.
My skin recently broke out REALLY badly for some reason (and is itchy, flaky, and irritated). I've been piling on makeup to cover it up, which has been irritating it more. Today I just remembered this video randomly and looked it up. I just did this technique and I don't know what kind of magic sorcery this is, but it gave me better coverage than my fullest coverage foundation (I used a medium coverage one for this) and looks so natural! My skin doesn't feel itchy and painful any more and the breakouts are a lot less obvious. I am eager to see how this wears throughout the day, but so far I am amazed!
I tried this the other day (last time I wore makeup) and it worked really well. It's a great solution for dry skin too but be sure to properly moisturize any extra dry patches before application. Perhaps I over did the oil but I'll continue to use this method again, just less oil and practice the application to see if a foundation brush versus a sponge or fingers leaves a better result. Very grateful for the advice. Foundation and powders dry my skin and I've tried many many brands. I'm 52 and hate a cakey skin look and this addition of oil in my foundation will not be causing that. :)
this man is a genius ....all of his tips I have tried and they are brilliant. .thanks
I had stopped wearing makeup about a month ago..because I just wasnt happy with anymore. I tried this tip (almond oil) and wow! Amazing! Thanks!
Did you have to dilute the almond oil first?
@@karac.a. No, I do not. I just drop ONE drop into the foundation right before I apply it (on my fingertip and mix it well)
@@crystaldawn9965 thank you!
Did you apply it under your eye area also or do you mix a drip in your concealer too as I find any concealer is dry on my eyes but I have really dark circles hereditary and im49!😫X
@@annharrison3287 I dont use concealer so I dont know about that but it does help keep my skin less dry over all. So give it a try?
I just bought a new foundation and was about to bin (yes another one) it as it was horrible on my skin! Was cakey and if I tried to blend it, it just came straight off again. Then saw this video - added a single drop of jojoba oil to one pump and now I am literally glowy AF!!! Which is quite an achievement at 55yo. Thank you kind sir 💃
Hey I tried this today with my maybeline fit me foundation that is quite liquid. So before I did this method I always had lines on my skin with the foundation and it didn't looked so beautiful as I hoped it would look but then I mixed it with some sunflower oil ( i think any oil would work for ) and it made my face absolutely flawless! It doesn't give you an oily or greasy effect but a really healthy and glowy look! I can't say something for people who have oily skin ( I actually had mixed skin but my skin was so dry lately... ) but people who have dry or normal skin should DEFINETLY try this out! THANK YOU FOR THIS AMAZING HACK !!!
+lauren berry Wasn't it greasy?
+miss19lolo Just read carefully and you got an answer -_-
Alic Lackovičová
lol thanks i got it.
i feel embarrassed asking bc i don't have any fancy oils but does corn oil, vegetable oil, or baby oil work fine?
+Jamie Torren hey all you can do is try, right but, Coconut or olive oil would be better than veg or corn I think. I've never tried this particular tip but I moisturize with either vitamin E oil which is basically safflower/sunflower/almond/avocado-any combination of those seed oils or rose hip seed oil. $5-$6 at grocery store in vitamin section and if they have an organic area I prefer the JASON product which is the price I quoted. Some folks in the comments section are not fond of this oil tip but I have been using oil for a moisturizer for at least two years and I love it. You can experiment with all kinds of stuff from your kitchen, it would be wise to look up any information online first and just like here, read other opinions in the comments section. Pinterest has awesome homemade cleanser recipes with just a few examples like honey and lemon and apple cider vinegar and turmeric. I would much rather apply these things to my body than chemicals. Good luck gorgeous!
OMG! I can’t believe I’m saying this but this is GREAT! A total game changer. I was very skeptical because I have oily skin but this looked so much better, felt better and did not make my skin oily! I’m glad I tried it! Thank you so much!
I have been using coconut oil for years under my foundation, works like a charm!!
Pity it doesn't work on your brain, jojoba oil is not coconut oil you cabbage....
At least I have a brain you tool!!! You can use any kind of oil for that matter. Maybe you should listen before you open your big-ass mouth and spill insults. Jojoba, Rosehip, almond..whatever oil you want. Get it???
felicity june Same with me guess now I know why my foundation always applies flawlessly lol
Frank Garner so sad how negitive and unproductive your reply was. Reading comprehension seems to escape you, that's a growing epidemic spreading faster than a forest fire on social media forums. I pity you, I cannot fathom being that miserable and dull.
Mandy Phinehas Mandy, this Frank Garner guy is a weirdo. I swear, he commented on every single comment I made. I am not joking when I say, the guy was/is stalking me. No matter what video, what subject, every time I leave a comment, he comments. I think he is a very sick individual that needs mental help. I had to change my youtube settings to get rid of him. So just don't pay any attention to him. He is probably on the lookout for his next victim! :)
Well I went and tried it straight away. Don’t know what it is but it was amazing. I used JoJoba oil. It sort of went on my skin like velvet and sat immediately. I doesn’t do any of it without oil .thanks Man. Crazy
xD I dont even use make up I'm just here for his beautiful eyes

I have been trying this tip of yours since two days and I totally agree that it changes the game completely !
Love how my makeup looks..completely natural and glowy!
Thanks for sharing the great info.
God bless you !
Does this work with water based foundations? I'd assume not? but maybe it would surprise me. I'll have to try this out!
It will work.
Coen ilysm
I actually tried this recently with cover girl outlast and a drop of my sea buckthorn oil and the results were actually disastrous. This foundation is new to me and i didn't like the way it clung to dry spots, thought the oil might help it settle less. The foundation batted up and would not blend. I thought the whole oil and water thing was the reason why. I'm curious to see the next video to see how this will work
It probably won't work because water and oil don't mix. They repel each other. It will probably break the foundation up completely and mess up the texture of the product.
sanfran91 Thats what I was thinking
I watched this ages ago, watched it again today and tried it for the first time. OOOOOH my! I absolutely loved the way my skin looked, like it was glowing and still very natural! Normally my everyday foundation for years, was just a Mac powder, but lately I've noticed my under eye area looking a bit drier so used my liquid foundation from Sephora (only normally wear it for evenings out) with 2 drops of organic coconut oil... So good!! Just a touch of powder all over and it allowed it to still have a dewy finish...
Noticed my smile lines around my mouth stopped creasing so damn much (they're not ever visible unless I wear liquid makeup plus powder on top and I hate that I usually have to keep patting the area down through the day)
Thank you so much for sharing!
I could listen to you speak all day. What a handsome handsome talented man!!!
I just want to say how much I appreciate you , your channel, and the content you put out.
You keep it real on camera and give us tips that are truly wearable and can be applied in real life.
Love this tip. It has changed my foundation forever. I used Doterra fractionated coconut oil. And my moisturizer. Love it!
Oh my God I tried this today and wow. I had Too Faced concealer that I was about to return because I wasn’t confident using a thick-ish concealer. I am new to concealers not that the product was too thick for a concealer. But I really liked the color on me and tried it as a foundation (also after seeing your advise) but it felt drying and stretchy/heavy on itself.
Now today I mixed oil to the concealer and used it as my foundation. Oh my God, the skin like finish I was looking for. Applied thinly while giving great coverage but looking natural abs a bit glowy. Thank you so do much ! Also btw that product has so much quantity for the price. Love it
Vitamin E oil is great for acne or spotty skin guys and goes on so nicely under foundation! GOSS you are KING😍
I just thought about it Goss, you're making an oil painting and the canvas is the face. My favorite paintings of all are oil paintings over acrylic. I guess because the oil looks so much more realistic and vibrant. What genius to think about doing this on the face.
Boogietime thank you honey x
Boogietime I
I learned this a while ago and OH MY GOSH, YES! It definitely changes how beautiful the foundation turns out and I experience less creasing, cracks or caking in my foundation around my mouth lines.
Which oil did you use?
I tried this today, I used argan oil with my bronzer foundation, my face glows like a star, people turns heads when they see me, definitely my first born will be Wayne, love u dear.
my husband just wears jojoba oil and his skin looks great! Im going to snag his and try this tip :) Thank you Wayne
THIS! I have had so much trouble with foundation in my life. I have a skin condition that is like having an allergy to sunlight. I am so pale that I earned myself the unfortunate nickname "Chemo" in high school. I can get away with a teeny weeny bit of powder or cream foundation but anything more makes me look dirty. This tip helped so much that I almost cried! I might even buy some liquid foundation and see if I can finally put it on without looking like I played in a mud puddle!
Thank you so so so so so much Wayne! I suffer from dry sensitive skin, so I felt that although my coverage was amazing, it was lacking flawlessness. I did use to mix a dab of my oil based moisturiser in my foundation but always felt guilty doing it. But this tip you have given has liberated my foundation routine! Thank uuu
Wayne, one question, if you're ever into doing a show about it. I have under eyes that areannoying unhappy with my allergic body. I am working on the cream, caffeine, etc. It helps. But then I am youngish but then it looks sunked under there, dark circles. I'll look maybe you did this before! Thanks for all the information. I love my ziip! 🌷 🎸 luv ya!
I agree...of course makeup has no rules, to each their own, but I love the "sometimes less is better" method. I think makeup is more on a rise than ever and some girls are just going to crazy with the cake face. Now, I struggle with dry areas and even Bobbi Browns Skin Foundation shows them. This tip may be great for me, but any other tips for dry skin girls to avoid dry patches? I even wash my face and use argan oil as a moisturizer.
You should try the simple moisturizing facial wash its really good and avocado oil is the most moisturizing oil ive tried all types of oils and its the best another good moisturizer is the genes vitamin E creme thats all i use if im super dry i mix the oil with the creme for spf i just mix in the Cetaphil 50 spf daily moisturizer i know its alot but this really really helps for extremely dry sensitive skin i wouldn't even be able to use foundation because it would flake really bad these are the only things that helped and you should try the bobbi brown moisture rich foundation its more moisturizing than the skin one (:
Chelseyhijablove, i use to have the same problem with my skin.. I tried caster oil on those spots every chance I could until it all went away. Also you could wash your face with olive oil and moisturize with cetaphil face lotion that will do wonders for your skin and don't forget to drink lodes of water!
i found that argan oil was not strong enough. honestly, cetaphil for dry skin really repaired my dry spots the most out of anything
You can actually try washing your face with pure honey . honey will cleanse your face as well as mosturise it and then apply argan oil to ur face . hope it helps !
N also exfoliate your face once a week !
Hey, this seems to be an interesting tip, but there is something IMPORTANT that you didn't mention!
You say "oil" but you forget to precise that it should be a carrier oil, rather than an essential oil! Essential oils are very concentrated and they are absolutely NOT recommended for direct (undiluted) use on the skin, because they can irritate it a lot! Carrier oils are made from the fatty parts of a plant, and are not very concentrated, which makes them very gentle for the skin.
But also, some carrier oils can be way more comedogenic (causing clogged pores) than others, which may affect your skin a lot. So i would suggest being careful with oils! :)
I was thinking the same thing! As soon as he said ANY oil- my mind went on alert! He ought to be careful with saying that.
i thought he clarified by that by saying don't use lavender oil in the next sentence
Aromatherapist here, and yes, a carrier oil such as sunflower, rosehip, almond, olive, coconut, and jojoba would all work. Each individual oil has different properties and absorb differently into the skin. As stated above, only certain few essential oils are to be applied directly to the skin. ;) The best ones to get are organic, cold pressed, expelled oils that you can find at your local health food store.
Oh so it wasn't just me . He made it sound like this some secret tip when I assume alot of is know about using essential oils? So not being rude to him
Pinkkittenpaw can you use argan oil?
Hello Mr Goss. I just wanted to ask you if you could give me the link to the other videos that are in conjunction with this one for the next step. I tried to find it but you have so many videos I don't know where to look. I love your tips and techniques by the way. Thank you..

Still waiting for the other videos.
I have used this tip from you and I absolutely love it. Thank you, Wayne. I watch you all the time. Just love your sharing. I have corrected so many things I have done wrong in the past. I’m 66 yrs. and I can’t believe how much younger I look with minimizing and applying my makeup now. I really loved the tips on hooded eyes. Thank you again.
OK, I tried this tip with my liquid foundation and CC cream full coverage foundation. It's probably the best make-up tip I've ever gotten. I use Trilane skin oil, just a couple ot small drops added to my foundation and VOILA! it smooths out the foundation and really does look just like my skin only fully covered. Thanks Wayne, love it.
Ohmygod. I accidentally discovered this once when I was getting ready for an outdoor morning thing and I had DRY and flaky skin so I just looked like I out my face in a flour bag. I was so anxious about what to do so I took a little bit of olive oil and applied it with the foundation. And Voilà.
It was the most flawless look I had ever had. I remember every single person that day came to me and told I had flawless skin. And I said "Uh No. This is all make-up" but everyone still insisted that makeup doesn't give this flawless look.
do u have blemished or oily skin?
@@christinajaime2716 I sorta have a dry skin. It gets very dry around the mouth area. But I have blemishing too, near the nose.
This is why Alexandra de Markoff foundation is the best and has been used since the 1920's. Vivian Leigh wore it in GWTW. Oil based and it does not cause breakouts. Dirt and germs cause breakouts . Mineral oil may cause acne because it clogs pores. Wayne the oil is the best idea yet!
Awesome you mention oils: I’ve been doing this oil mix for a while, but I learn it by accident. I’ve been using pure Rosehip Oil Seed before my moisturizer (which I only dab a little) and then I would apply foundation. I started noticing how flawless and also even my foundation was looking. My face doesn’t crease where my lines are. Thank you!
Been doing this for years, in the islands we use a lot of oils as moisturize, cleansing etc. I use jojoba oil because its more like sebum in the skin, and yes I have oily skin but using oil makes my skin less oily if that makes sense.
It does ye , your skin makes more oil cos of either hormonal imbalance or as it seems in your case , people with oily skin tend to have dry skin if that makes sense lol 😂, so the skin pumps out lots to compensate , but if you apply oil to the face your body says hmm I don't need to actually flood myself with oil ATM , so yes sometimes adding oil can actually make you less oily
i tried it with almond oil...and my skin looks flawless and ammaaazzziiinnggg !!!! thank u sooo muccchhh !!!
Did you have to dilute the almond oil first?
Does oil first work with mineral makeup!? I'll have to see!
Omg thank you! I saw this before in a video but they didnt tell that you have to mix the oil and the foundation on the back of your hand! Now it works, and it looks so natural and lightreflecticting. 😍 I love it, especially for my dry skin, i had nearly give up the game because i always had little flakes on my skin!
I use olive oil as a moisturizer and it works amazing as a foundation primer- no joke!
I'm gone give it a try:)
i was just gonna ask if olive oil would work
What olive oil brand do you use ? You apply it before foundation or mix it together?
Don’t use olive oil during the day because it gonna make your face black with the sun ☀️
totally, I use cocnut
i wet my brush with a drop of oil before dabbing it into my liquid foundation... which then applies beautifully and looks nicer, too. xo
Thanks so much for taking the time to teach some of us (definitely me ) great makeup and skin lessons! Honestly Wayne, you have taught me some very valuable lessons on how to enhance my natural features and skin tone over the past year since I'd found your channel. I don't wear makeup everyday, but when I do I want to look natural and that's why I appreciate your artistry of 'beauty'. I do love your down to earth personality too. God bless you Wayne Goss!💖
My sister thought my skin had cleared up but the oil in foundation trick had made my foundation looking like real skin. Thanks Wayne
This is a fabulous tip! I'm 64 and tried this. It was perfect!
I have acne prone skin, will oil clog my pores causing more acne? And will it be good for oily skin?
No unfragranced natural oils shouldn't clog your pores at all, think of it like this. A tennis ball won't fit through a keyhole will it? It's the same concept. Oil is is too thick to clog your skin resulting in spots. Try them out and see what you think :)
No but it depends on what oils your using on your skin. I think if you wanted more info check out minimalist beauty blog she lists the oils you shouldn't and should use on acne-prone skin.
It does depend on which oil. I have acne prone skin also. I would say Coconut oil is much too heavy for people like us, as is almond in most cases. Cold-pressed Rosehip oil is great for oily skin as it's not heavy but still moisturising and helps speed up recovery of red marks from acne. Goss mentioned jojoba oil which is supposedly very close to oil/sebum produced by our skin. I'm not a professional but these are my experiences :)
Actually jojoba oil has a very similar chemical structure to the oil produced by your skin and hair. By adding a little bit of jojoba oil to your face, your skin will probably stop overproducing sebum which is what causes acne in the most part. So basically jojoba oil can help with acne in some instances. Good luck!
It depends on which oil you choose. Coconut oils tend to be more comedogenic, while most people have no problem at all with mineral oil. You can find mineral oil in Johnson and Johnson's baby oil, which is an inexpensive option. When people react to J&J baby oil, it's usually due to the fragrance that is added to the mineral oil. You can find pure mineral oil without fragrance added in most pharmacies. That being said, ALWAYS do a spot test and see how your skin reacts to it before you commit to doing the whole face using this method.
Hiya Wayne, loved the video, but I must admit I'm concerned about the oil breaking down the foundation throughout the day as these oils can be used to remove makeup. I'm also concerned about the product transferring everywhere. I see other people have commented saying how well the combination of oil and foundation works. Maybe I'm just overthinking it, hehe.
This is THE MOST AMAZING FOUNDATION TIP EVER!!!! I used Clinique Acne Solutions foundation and Tarte Maracuja oil and all I can say is WOW!!! It literally just looks like your skin, you have to try this tip because it really does make such a difference
I was about to ask if tarts maracuja oil would work? I guess you tried it, and so the answer is yes!
Yes it worked perfectly well for me!
When I mixed tarte maracuja oil into my liquid foundation it oxidized and had actually changed shades from fair to deep/tan and I can't wheat such a color!! Does this tip work only for oil or silicone based foundations? What about Dior forever? The trick seemed to work with bb cream although it was light coverage bb cream and I'm not sure if I'd notice the shade change. Josie maran milk did work with the liquid foundation but I'm tod it is a oil & water infused together, so maybe it will work with both oil based and water based foundations?! Anyone know if the foundation formula matters??!
Ambria-Breeze Monsma I think Dior Forever would work, as Wayne held up Dior Forever in this video.
Oh ok. it was, good! it looked like Dior star to me at first. Well I don't know why than the tarte maracuja oil turned mine soo dark!! Now I'm beginning to question my products authenticity?!¿
exactly! ive been using this technique for ages! it looks nicer compared to using moisturizer as your base
Wayne, thank you sooo VERY much for sharing your secret of adding one drop of oil to my liquid foundation. Every thing that you said would happen, has happened!!! I am beyond thrilled. I love you, Wayne 💕 much love from Florida
I have been doing that... people have been stopping me and saying your skin looks beautiful. Thank you so much, you are amazing
Love that tip. Or I use a liquid highlighter. Just a drop. Makes my foundations last longer look like skin and glowy. Not cakey. Love it
What highlighter do you use?
You guys I've used this with jojoba oil from sprouts (like $5 ) and it works AMAZINGLY!!!! Thank you for this wonderful tip Goss!!!
I have oily skin and I use Clarins Everlasting Foundation+. Last month I bought the rosehip oil from The Ordinary and it's just an amazing product! I've struggled with foundations for my skin because they always make my dry next to my nose and under my eyes, until I decided to try a liiiiittle drop along with my foundation and the results were beautiful! Really really good, like it was my skin and not make up. Totally changing my routine now!
Wayne: You have said in the past to match primer type to foundation type (water-based with water-based, oil-based with oil-based), so how can this "drop of oil" tip work with a water-based foundation? Won't it separate?????
i was thinkin the exact same thing
Was thinking exactly the same thing! As I use oil free foundations and moisturiser! (Water based) so surely putting oil in that is going to counteract that??
this is because here u are MIXING them, not creating separate layers
Yes, I agree! My sister has been doing that for years now on her makeup and when she does other people's makeup too! We use Argan Oil and the result is heavenly! We swear by it!😍😍😍
So you said any kind of oil is okay to use BUT is there a certain kind of foundation that should be used? Does it have to be water based or oil based?
Exactly what I was thinking!
I've been doing this as long as I've been wearing makeup and it really depends on the texture of the product. I'm not that knowledgeable in ingredients so I just test it out on my hand, and if it gets lumpy or separates I don't do it :D
***** I don't mix the oil with my foundation directly, I apply the drop of oil to my face, then apply my foundation
+Vicki Zhang
So what foundation do you find works best for this?
well i've been doing what April Rose explained because i've been using cushion foundations and you can't really do that with them, but i liked revlon colorstay mixed with the sonia kashuk oil
I watch and try your hints. I am a senior. I am always getting complements on my skin. Thank you so much.
Hi Wayne. Last year you posted a foundation tip that was moisturizer, then powder, then foundation. Do you still recommend that process for, say, summer months or fuller coverage or different skin types? Thanks, love your videos!
I was just thinking about this tip and wondering if he still recommends it!
So I tried that very technique today...I have an oily complexion, I exfoliated in the a.m and applied moisturizer mixed with liquid highlighter, then powder, then a drop of rose oil mixed with the foundation, it was a very nice result BUT if you are oily you need to let the foundation rest for a few minutes to dry before adding blush etc, otherwise like me, it will swipe away at first sight of a brush. It was nice most of the day, but as an oily complected gal, it was starting to slide around but late day, I did not apply any powder to blot bc I wanted to see how it held up. Next time I will either skip the moisturizer or the oil, but I won't do both again.
i actualy uses this method without even know that's even a real methode but not exactly like this , i have very dry skin and dosen't matter how i hydrate my face it's always dry and putting foundation is a nightmar for me untill i started using vit e oil , i put like 1 drop all over my face and let it for 5 min then put my foundation on and it looks amazing
OK. I live in the humid subtropics and have skin so oily that BP have staked exploration rights on my face but I will give this a crack.
LMAO!
+TheNulligravida Did you try it? how did it go? i have super oily skin as well
+TheNulligravida LOLOL That was so cute! Thx for the laugh! :)
+TheNulligravida don't sign away any rights to drill without talking to a lawyer!
I did try. I now have several fully crewed oil rigs dotted across my face and a few nations with troops massing on borders.
OMG I can't believe you have said about the oil.. I've been doing this for about 6 months... mainly because I use Retinol products and my skin goes dry and flakey with foundation but the oil helps loads and gives you a lush glow.. the glow does die down after a couple of hours for a more natural look.! Good tip Wayne! Love your vids.. you've got me hooked on Paula's Choice products!
even if ur skin is super oily already?
I'm also curious about this.
chelseagirl72
Me too I have super oily skin....so not sure if this is for normal to dry skin, or for every skin type.
chelseagirl72 My skin is as greasy as a large fry from McDonalds lol. It still works on my skin. It looke stunning.
Nilah Williams looks
It actually helps to put oil on oily skin! It tricks your skin into thinking that there's already enough oil, and so it doesn't need to produce anymore. This way you're able to control it a little better
Can I hug u for once buddy .. u seem a very positive soul and pure heart.
He's so handsome! ):
veress emoke19 yes he is gay
yes he's fine
veress emoke19 nah i have a good gaydar and i dont sense anything gay . He just knows his shit about makeup !
I have been using (just a few weeks) quality vitamin e oil under my liquid fountain & it really is a huge difference! Absolutely true!
Love your videos Wayne, they Never go out of style. I’m a senior & find your ideas Antarctic for my skin! 🇨🇦💐
I am wondering how this goes with water based foundations as that is what I use mostly, and oil and water not mix so am worried about it separating... :)
+Christine Mary thats what I'm actually asking myself too !!
Ok thank you for that, I didnt know it was a wax, that is strange, wouldnt it dry all hard and yukky...
+Christine Mary It doesn't matter if your foundation is water based, if you use the right oil like almond it's also liquid. Just prime your face first, add the foundatuon+oil mix, and if you want too be sure it doesn't slide or cake, just set it with a transluscent powder. That would surely do the trick :)
+Asa Olsen OIL and WAX are both hydrophobic LIPIDS. Neither will mix with water easily (that's what hydrophobic means) without a solvent or emulsifier.
Asa Olsen thank you! Ur right!
Love this tip! I've been doing this for years! For my dry skin it really helps and it does make your skin look amazing! Xo Lori
What kind of oil do you use?
Can we use olive oil?lol
I've been using a facial oil by Vichy lately, basically any facial oil works. It really is amazing
And I really can't see why olive oil wouldn't work though haha
haha thanks Lori I hope it doesn't melt off I'll give it a try! :)
I have oily skin and I use any facial oil - live in Las Vegas and this is the BEST way to wear my foundation! Thanks Wayne
