I have a theory of why spiders fear the basilisk: Spiders have 8 eyes that give them near 360 degree vision, but they don’t have eyelids so they can’t close their eyes. That means the basilisk’s deadly stare can kill them at any angle, and they can’t look away or close their eyes. When you consider that, it’s not difficult to understand why spiders run for the hills in terror at the first sign of this giant snake…
Also keep in mind that a Basilisk can be used as a wand core, as Salazar Slytherin’s wand’s core was a Basilisk Horn and actually allowed the wand owner the ability to put the wand to “sleep”, otherwise make it inactive, if they spoke parseltongue. Great video as always!!
That’s the point though, it was put to sleep in the middle of a fight. But parseltongue is such a rare gift, I don’t think they are particularly worried about someone else manipulating or even knowing about that ability. But if someone manages to get ahold of your wand, it would be pretty nifty to prevent them from using it.

I feel like the resurrection stone is to powerful of an artifact to have someone’s soul latched to it. It would have to be attached to the gold ring itself.... or else it would make Voldemort immortal..😟
4:33 I’ve always taken it that the ring was the horcrux, not the Resurrection Stone that was set into the ring. This may or may not be correct. However, it doesn’t seem to me that chipping or cracking the Resurrection Stone; rendering the physical form “beyond repair”, would necessarily destroy the magical or mystical property of resurrection that Death placed upon the Stone.
@@dobbythehouself7601 Its spell resistant, not spell proof. Avada Kedavra would probably kill it. Avada Kedavra doesn't need to penetrate the basilisk's body, it just needs to touch it, the spell works by magically ripping your soul out of your body.
Me: Yep uh- Neville. Gimme that. Also Me: I have an egg, what else. I know! HARRY! Harry: What. Me: HATCH MY SERPENT HATCH. Harry: What the- AHHHH Me: *Grabs Tape* No killing this one!

Kaveen Jayamanna He can speak parseltongue, yes but, I think it was that Tom had a stronger bond with the basilisk, and that Harry never tried since he was running for his life.
I'm pretty sure it's because he only shared a fraction of Voldy and wasn't actually the heir where as Voldy was born into the Gaunt family which were direct descendants of Salazar Slytherin
- Harry did not know at that point that a part of Voldemort is inside him. - Harry believed Tom Riddle when Tom said only he can control the Basilisk. - Harry was kind of busy running for his life while trying not to look in the eyes of Basilisk instead of checking his parseltongue would be helpful. - Harry did not try at all to command the Basilisk; Who would when they know that Basilisk is something as deadly as it gets? - Everyone said the Basilisk could be controlled only by the Heir of Slytherin; Harry is not the heir of Slytherin in any stretch.
I remember when my sister told me about laying a chicken egg under a toad will create a basilisk. So, I wanted my mom to get me a basilisk for Christmas that year, and I told her how she could make one. She got me a toy of the basilisk instead, I was not disappointed.
Always looking forward to watching you give explanations on Harry Potter series. Keep up the good work man! Your subscribers (with me included) greatly appreciates it.
cuz salazar sytherin purposely made the pipes leading and around the school massive for the basilisk and snakes can go really skinny but really long to minimise their width
No, Harry's horcrux wouldn't have been destroyed because the tooth would have had to gone right though him, like the diary. The venom didn't do cause you need to destroy them, not Inject them
Are you dumb? Harry would have died and the horcrux would have been destroyed if fawkes wasn’t there to save his life, the venom was going throughout his body
4:23 right, harry would need to have died in order for the horcrux part to him to be destroyed. Since Fawkes healed him with Phoenix tears, harry never died and the horcrux part of him survived, until book 7 where voldermort Avada Kadabra-ed him.
No, I do not think so. They may not die instantly, but they will die. Certain creatures, like Phoenixes, ghosts, Unicorns, and (apparently) Junglefowl are immune,
@@bluepearl4624 The only reason ghosts are alive is not because they have special abilities. It's just that they've died already so they really can't die again.
So, I have a question. If you speak parseltongue, are you able to look into the Basilisk’s eyes without dying or ask it to turn that ability on and off? We definitely saw Tom Riddle look directly at it in the Chamber of Secrets.
0:40 Herpo the Foul 1:32 Life of a Basilisk 1:54 The Description of a Basilisk 3:36 Basilisk Venom 4:08 Horcrux Plot Hole 5:39 Basilisk Breeding 6:20 Chamber of Secrets 8:12 Outro Oh boy.
My theory: Herpo the Foul made his basilisk a Horcrux, so a part of his would be inside of the snake, so he would be able to talk to snakes, and he was one of the first known Parslemouths and Salzar Slytherin might have been a descendant of Herpo, which would mean Voldemort was part Baslilik and part chicken and part toad! imagine that next time you watch a Voldemort scene, remember that.
I press the like button on your videos even before I listen to them entirely, because I already know the content is good. As soon as I open it,I click the like button.
Man, Rowling could have said something like, countless experiments were performed on all kind of magical snakes. They were mutilated, bewitched and crossbred to create a new kind of powerful creature. Till Herpo the Foul brewed a potion and performed such a ritual that created the first Basilisk. But no. Chicken egg under toad creates snake.
@@AnInkStick Actually Rowling got this wrong. A basilisk is made when a serpent or toad egg is incubated by a chicken. The reverse will give you a cockatrice. Also, it's not just a chicken, it has to be a cockerel, i.e. a young rooster. This actually greatly complicates things because, as I'm sure you're aware, roosters do not lay eggs nor do they hatch them. Basically, either one of these mythical beasts would need to be created from an impossible scenario.
I have a few other tidbits about Basilisks. Their Venom courses throughout their bodies. Stabbing the Venom will rise through the weapon kill the Wielder and if on horseback the horse as well. Takes only a second for the Venom to kill that way. Also the scent of a Weasel is fatal to The Basilisk as well. Also you could use a mirror to kill it with it's own reflection.
My answers to the Resurrection stone: Maybe it contains magical protection & enchantments to protect it against any forms of advanced & dark magic. But that’s just my idea

I feel like the resurrection stone is to powerful of an artifact to have someone’s soul latched to it. It would have to be attached to the gold ring itself.... or else it would make Voldemort immortal..😟
The horcruxes literally make a person immortal
Brodie Ross not if they get destroyed. What I mean is that you can’t destroy the resurrection stone.
A video on everything we know about Nagini?!
Why didnt voldemort make the basilisk a horcrux
then he would have lost 2 horcuxes that night lol
the whole time i was watching the deathly hallows i was thinking WHY THE HELL ISNT NAGINI 1000000000 MILES AWAY BY NOW????
Probably because he couldn’t open it again in his school years, as he would have to stay at school.

@@katjapaul6623 Is that a bad thing?
Amazing video like always love to see the amount of effort you put into these videos as it shows that you care about Harry Potter and your fans!
I feel that Voldemort’s soul was in the metal of the ring and not the stone
Imagine killing a thousand year old basilisk at age 12...
Repeated
*basilisk fangs hit my heart*
me: you should have gone for the head *avada Kadavra
basilisk: SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
But it would rebound as it says in the video. So you would die.
@@dobbythehouself7601 Its spell resistant, not spell proof. Avada Kedavra would probably kill it. Avada Kedavra doesn't need to penetrate the basilisk's body, it just needs to touch it, the spell works by magically ripping your soul out of your body.

Hmmmmmmmm
Don't you dare

Harry: What.
Me: HATCH MY SERPENT HATCH.
Harry: What the- AHHHH
Me: *Grabs Tape* No killing this one!
Could you do a video
“Everything you need to know about horcruxes”
??
I always thought the Resurrection Stone, being an all powerful Hallow, was strong enough to resist the Horcrux mod and that the actual ring part that held the stone was the Horcrux.

He’s squib
why Harry couldn’t control the basilisk? He shared Tom’s powers, didn’t he?
Kaveen Jayamanna He can speak parseltongue, yes but, I think it was that Tom had a stronger bond with the basilisk, and that Harry never tried since he was running for his life.
Only the heir of slytherin could have controlled the basilisk and tom was the heir according to the movie
I'm pretty sure it's because he only shared a fraction of Voldy and wasn't actually the heir where as Voldy was born into the Gaunt family which were direct descendants of Salazar Slytherin
Kaveen Jayamanna he never tried to command it in the books. The movies tend to create plot holes
- Harry did not know at that point that a part of Voldemort is inside him.
- Harry believed Tom Riddle when Tom said only he can control the Basilisk.
- Harry was kind of busy running for his life while trying not to look in the eyes of Basilisk instead of checking his
parseltongue would be helpful.
- Harry did not try at all to command the Basilisk; Who would when they know that Basilisk is something as deadly
as it gets?
- Everyone said the Basilisk could be controlled only by the Heir of Slytherin; Harry is not the heir of Slytherin in any
stretch.
How could something so massive fit in the pipes
cuz salazar sytherin purposely made the pipes leading and around the school massive for the basilisk and snakes can go really skinny but really long to minimise their width
They be some chunky pipes
Slytherin: Made em Chunky.

@@sherwin9158 😂😂that's funny
I think that's the lamest way a magical creature could possibly be created
I have to agree with that. Lol
Slytherin's basilisk: *still exists 1000 years later*
Fawks: "I'm gonna put some dirt in your eye"
Are pure bloods immune to Basilisks' stare?
Don t think so
No, I do not think so.
Unless they're a rooster
Or a phoenix
plz do mad-eye moody btw luv ur voice it is so soothing and calm
So, I have a question. If you speak parseltongue, are you able to look into the Basilisk’s eyes without dying or ask it to turn that ability on and off? We definitely saw Tom Riddle look directly at it in the Chamber of Secrets.
Imagine harry was really vigilant on the information on the basilisk on chamber of scerets and actually took a crowing rooster to kill it.
I can't stop watching these . I didnt read the books so it's so interesting!

Voldemort is bald now, is he not?

Lol
Peeves is that you behind that profile?
These videos bring butterflies in my stomach..❤️
My theory: Herpo the Foul made his basilisk a Horcrux, so a part of his would be inside of the snake, so he would be able to talk to snakes, and he was one of the first known Parslemouths and Salzar Slytherin might have been a descendant of Herpo, which would mean Voldemort was part Baslilik and part chicken and part toad! imagine that next time you watch a Voldemort scene, remember that.
More and more videos of this comes everyday, these theories are never going stop and I love it!

For some reason, I always find myself watching your videos over and over :o I admire you
this creature was my most favorite of the harry potter monsters, i always loved seeing this monster in the movie
I mean that’s how it is in the old stories.
Take me to hogwarts 😭😭😭
Just hearing that guy say 20ft long is AVERAGE kills my dirty mind
when i heard "by hatching a chicken egg under a toad" i sat upright and got really into the video, cheers man
I have a few other tidbits about Basilisks.
Well, the wound obviously wasn't beyond repair if Phoenix tears could heal it...
Can u do more character life stories???
Do the life of Dolores Umbridge or Madam Hooch please
I’ve watched almost every HP video you made in a matter of two days. Lol. Great content... idk how I went this long without seeing your videos.
