Dementors can't exactly torture soulless beings. I think for a small sentence, she should be George's Guinea pig for new joke sweets, plus lifetime in Azkaban, constantly visited by those she hates (half breeds) and written essays with her own blood on a weekly basis, for each student at hogwarts she tortured. She doesn't even deserve an afterlife, now that I think about it, cause Satan would probably ask for her autograph.

She was disappointed that he did not get Kissed, but she overall did the job : he "illegally" performed magic outside of school in the presence of a muggle.

I think the reason why most hate umbridge more the Voldemort is that we've all had that one teacher or boss. The one who gives extra detention, harshly grades your work. Doesn't show any appreciation for hard work. Writes you up for nothing. Just a general pain to be around. Voldemort is the evil we wish to never face but umbridge is the evil we face every day.
She does remind me of the awful geometry teacher I had in HS. That woman was so horrible we started a petition to have her fired. It worked, and she only taught that one year at our school. I prefer to think that when Dolores Umbridge was hauled away by Centaurs, she was somewhat more than bound and threatened with murder and was finally turned over to Dumbledore.

I think the main reason Umbridge is the most hated character is that because she's a realistic character. You can't find people like Voldemort or Bellatrix anywhere, but you can find Umbridge everywhere, in school, at work, in a grocery store. Studying to be a director and a writer, I learned about creating and analyzing villains, the most hated ones are the ones most realistic. Umbridge doesn't need magic to be a pain in the neck, unlike Voldemort who is basically dependent on magic to maintain his power, even his life. Umbridge is your everyday annoying neighbor, a teacher you never liked, that lady at the grocery store who feels entitled to do whatever she wants. Personally, I don't think of her being worse than Voldemort, Umbridge would never kill a baby, despite her actions, but still, she is the most feared, disliked and most realistic villain in the franchise and without her, I don't think the fans would realize her quite realistic power in their every day world.

Oh, you have no idea. It'll always will be Umbridge. But honestly, if it was up to me, I would make her punishment FAR more severe than in the books. How? Well, I would make sure she would never access a wand or anything magical or enchanted ever again and put her in a U.S Federal Prison, or better, put her in Arkham Asylum, as well as make up her story that she was both a pedophile and someone who hurts children. That'll sort itself out in due course.
For those who don't know, if you're sent to prison for being a pedophile or rapist, EVERY inmate will want to see you dead.

I think the reason why most hate umbridge more the Voldemort is that we've all had that one teacher or boss. The one who gives extra detention, harshly grades your work. Doesn't show any appreciation for hard work. Writes you up for nothing. Just a general pain to be around.

She does remind me of the awful geometry teacher I had in HS. That woman was so horrible we started a petition to have her fired. It worked, and she only taught that one year at our school. She was mean just for the sake of being mean. I'll be honest. Math isn't my strong suit. I've tried to understand it, but it's like gibberish to me, so she was extra nasty towards me. Failed me for free handing a graph drawing because I didn't trace the original.

McGonagall was always my favourite character in the books, and her absolute savagery against Umbridge was the best part of the series for me!

I think the main reason Umbridge is the most hated character is that because she's a realistic character. You can't find people like Voldemort or Bellatrix anywhere, but you can find Umbridge everywhere, in school, at work, in a grocery store.
Studying to be a director and a writer, I learned about creating and analyzing villains, the most hated ones are the ones most realistic.
Umbridge doesn't need magic to be a pain in the neck, unlike Voldemort who is basically dependent on magic to maintain his power, even his life.
Umbridge is your everyday annoying neighbor, a teacher you never liked, that lady at the grocery store who feels entitled to do whatever she wants.
Personally, I don't think of her being worse than Voldemort, Umbridge would never kill a baby, despite her actions, but still, she is the most feared, disliked and most realistic villain in the franchise and without her, I don't think the fans would realize her quite realistic power in their every day world.

In the Order of the Phoenix game during the section where you play as Fred and George where they pulled the pranks you get to see a couple more pranks pulled including sneaking 2 Howlers onto the school grounds 1 into Umbridge's office and another one into the meeting office of her Inquisitorial Squad/asshole bullies with badges, screwing with the clocks to make Draco and the rest of the Inquisitorial Squad miss their OWLS, turning the entrances of Umbridge's office, Filch's office and the entryway to the Slytherin Common Room into swamps, and sneaking Screaming Mandrakes into Umbridge's Office, the Inquisitorial Squad's meeting office, and Filch's Office.
