  • Hello there UA-cam friends! In this video I will be showing you how you can test a bad engine oil thermostat valve and engine piston cooling valve with a multimeter. Don’t just just load up the parts cannon when you can test the component first.

    Good job thank you.
    Is the smaller one upright next to the oil filters?

      The piston cooling valve is mounted vertical, the engine oil thermostat valve is mounted sideways, with the plug right by the frame of the truck. Thank you for watching!

    Hi there, what was the problem on your truck?

    How high was your oil temperature before you changed these? I got a 2016 Volvo d13 500,000 miles oil runs 235-247. Im guessing this could be my problem?

      My engine oil thermostat valve was stuck open when the solenoid failed and started throwing the code. My oil temp was 239 degrees. Thank you for watching!

    I had stop engine light come up and 4812 and 4813 fm4 short to ground. I replace oil thermostat valve but not piston cooling valve. I have changed fuse fe09 under hood. It went away. After 1000 mile later it pops up again. I changed fe09 again it went away. Whats the problem you think, harness or I should have replace both of valve.

      Before you buy any parts, you need to check the wiring that goes from the valve to the engine computer. Something is causing that fuse to blow. Unplug the connectors from the valves With a DVOM. Resistance on those was about 10m Ohm on the wires. Make sure that no wires are rubbing to metal anywhere, the harness runs close to the frame, then over the engine. Also measure the resistance of the oil thermostat and piston cooling valve. If oil got deep into the harness, the engine harness can be a problem also. Thank you for watching!

    That valve can cause oil leak?

    • @DurangoExpressTrucks
      @DurangoExpressTrucks  Рік тому +1

      Yes! It can. And the oil will wick through the electrical connector, through the wire harness and into the engine ECM pins.
