    This was a fantastic video really like how you set up all the tools. I think it’s interesting you barely mention Amazon. I rarely shop on Amazon anymore because I don’t find them to be a very competitive company when it comes to pricing. I totally agree on the pre-owned market I especially agree that you can get good deals on a few other knives that you didn’t mention when it comes to being preowned. When it comes to Victorinox they have a lifetime guarantee/warranty so if anything were to happen you can just send it in they’ll probably be able to fix it however that means you’re shipping it to Switzerland. I really like all the points you added in this video and the effort you put into it. Great video great content!

    Your work is sure to be helpful to many people! Thanks! A pocket knife is a must, anything else is a luxury. people love luxury. Multitools never replace professional tools. I still love them, but haven't carried them with me for a long time. Small, light and for me beautiful pocket knives have the advantage on the go. However, I wouldn't want to do without my Letherman 300 in my tool box. All other multi tools and pocket knives are hobby. 😀

    I highly recommend Swiss Knife Shop. I always buy from them because they will engrave virtually every Swiss Army Knife or Leatherman, their base prices are often the same as Amazon (in many cases, they ARE the Amazon seller for SAKs), and their shipping is free. Having each multitool engraved just makes it that much more special, whether it's for myself or a gift. They also have excellent customer service.

    Ohh man, what a flood of information! This one was great. Agree with almost everything here. Especially Victorinox. I have been gifted a few, but over 90% of my (over 100) victorinox knives are Ebay foundlings. Can't beat it!

    You’re bringing so much value to the edc community… I’m constantly recommending your channel! Thanks for mentioning the serrated Tinker. Also, have you checked out the Victorinox serrated folding paring knife? I may have mentioned this before, but it’s a perfect gardening and food knife… over 4 inches, liner lock, dishwasher safe and weighs as much as a Dragonfly. Only downside is the blunt tip and thin flexible blade (although those could be seen as features). I hope they use the platform for their saws, that would be amazing.

      @@maxlvledc Isn’t it amazing?! But almost no one in the edc world is talking about it. I gave some to volunteers at the community garden… only issue is that women seemed to struggle with disengaging the lock (and I’m even talking about strong women who don’t hesitate to throw 50 lb bags over their shoulders). That’s the only real complaint I have.

    One note on buying SAK’s on eBay is that often you can find stuff from other countries. When i was in the mood for a Hunstman, I found it in a Vic kit with a flashlight and compass in a nice leather case, it is awesome, only made in Canada.

    Not related, but recently I've been watching your video of scissors and although I do like the dedicated option most are too big to carry in a multitool pouch. So I started looking and landed on the replacement scissors for the swiss card. You can pick them up for $10, they're the standard victorinox scissors and they're in a very small form factor.

    Good call on eBay. I've never bought new tools off the site, but I wanted a pocket clip for my Swisstool Spirit that Victorinox never has in stock. I randomly thought to check eBay, and three days later I'm pocket carrying my Spirit.

    I would also check Facebook groups that particularly hone in on EDC. Some guy's will sell at very decent pricing, and of course being a member of the edc community, they will put an edge on them sometimes better than factory! Plus, most of the folks are fairly trustworthy, and not only are you buying a decent knife, you're making a friend with the same hobbies as you!

    Best multitool for a handyman?

    • @maxlvledc
      @maxlvledc  Рік тому +1

      Hmm, tough.... what I would look for is a tool that stands on its own with no addons. The reason is: if you need a specialized tool or driver, you're better off going and getting that tool.
      So with that in mind:
      #1 Swisstool MX clip (One handed blade + very good dedicated tools)
      #2/3 swisstool X
      #2/3 Supertool 300
      #4 Centerdrive (upgraded cutters
      #5 Dual Force
      I think depending on leathermans proprietary drivers is crazy at this point.

      @PetePuebla Рік тому

      @@maxlvledc yeah, I'd like to have a tool that's handy, with stuff I use most of the time, without having to get my toolbag. Leatherman Surge seems to be the one with good quality. Swiss Army make a Victornox that is high quality as well, MX I think.

    I only bring this up because I think the distinction is important ,but why do you think it is that so many people these days think a Victorinox swiss army " knife " is a multitool.
    It's called a knife after all just like a scout /camp knife or "demo knife ", because it's a pocket knife with some other implements added.
    I don't belive the term multitool was in common use until leatherman hit the scene and this trend seems far more recent.
    My assumption is when the modern folders became prominent enough to be many kids first knives a leatherman multitool was probably the first thing they saw with other functions.
