This video was recorded about a month ago right after my initial listen to queen. So some of the statements/questions asked are based off of the knowledge i had at that moment. Sorry for the late upload on this one.

Brian wrote this song for Freddie because Freddie liked ladies (and gentlemen) with ample behinds. Freddie had relationships with women and men before finally moving exclusively to relationships only with men. He lived with a girl named Mary Austin for several years in the 70's but started also seeing men. Freddie and Mary broke up but they stayed very close for the rest of his life. She became Freddie's personal assistant and traveled with him and took care of all of his affairs. Freddie always wanted to keep her close so he kept her in his employ, he always loved her and even bought her a house across the street from him so she would never be far away. Freddie always referred to Mary as his common law wife. When Freddie died he left the bulk of his estate to Mary. When he told her of his intent, she said no, that it should go to his family and other things but Freddie told her had things been as he wished they would have been, she would have been his wife and it all would have been hers anyway.

I actually know someone who was IN LOVE with his fiancé but broke up because he realized he was gay. He said it broke his heart because he wanted to love her and be what she needed but had a "Coming-To-Jesus" moment and spilled his heart.
They're still best friends and his family (who always suspected) love him just the same. It's a story with a happy beginning. 🏳‍🌈

Freddie was bisexual in my opinion. He had a relationship with Mary the love of his life. He had relationships with other women also. He had boyfriends and people would say he was gay, I think he was bisexual with preference to men.

I absolutely love seeing this generation fall in love with the sounds that changed my life!!! Queen transcends every stereotype. Period! Its jarring to remember today's kids don't remember how dangerous it was for anyone to openly admit being gay at this time in history. I think the movie trys to be respectful of his gender identity, but he simply transcends all the rules we had imposed on us at that time. He was such an amazing artist ppl who wld normally be openly hostel choose to overlook the things that normally would threaten his life as well as those who admitted being a fan. I'm sure plenty of hate was thrown his way, but not nearly as much as anyone else coming out would have dealt with. Ppl like him helped ppl EVERYWHERE understand how much u miss out if u choose to hate based on gender or sexuel identity. He felt with it definitely, but by in large he was loved and thats amazing!!

As I'm sitting here typing this I'm waiting to hear if my granddaughter has been born yet and how my daughter is doing. You kept my mind occupied for a little bit and I appreciate that. Due to covid rules family isn't allowed in the waiting area which this is my first grandchild being born and her first daughter being born. She has her hubby with her and my youngest daughter is supposed to be with them but they haven't let her up yet. Waiting for my daughter who's having the baby covid test to come back. I know if my youngest was up there she would keep me updated. Keep the songs coming from Queen. Fat Bottomed Girls was released as a double A-side along with Bicycle Race. The lyrics of the song contain the text line “Get on your bikes and ride”, a clear reference to the other A-side. Bicycle Race has the text “Fat bottomed girls, they'll be riding today, so look out for those beauties, oh yeah” which refers back again.

Freddie's sexuality is debatable, he said he lived for sex and would sleep with anyone, which says to me he was a sex addict. Many of his friends said he was Bisexual, some said he was gay. So who knows for sure. Personally I think he was living a life of hedonism, and may have been Bisexual or a Biromantic. But really, does it really matter? What's really important is he was a great talented man, who was a loving kind man, very shy and insecure about himself. He overcame all that to become number one.

    • @MWhaleK

One important: Since being with any kind of same sex was a big nono back then a lot of bisexual men from that era was just labeled as gay just because they liked men as well. So often even people I know who are bisexual refer to themself as gay.
      I think Freddie was bisexual.

    • @deboraclark5791
      @deboraclark5791 Рік тому

@@DrRhyhm Many still label Bisexuals as Gay. I think people today want him to be labeled as the Gay icon and dismissed or say it's a lie he was with women after Mary. Mick Rock who spent a lot of time with Freddie in New York said he saw Freddie take women into his bedroom several times and spend the night with them, even Peter Freestone said Freddie would go with women now and then. Freddie really shouldn't be put in a box. Freddie lived his life uniquely.

Because Freddie put everything he had into singing Queen's songs people mistakenly assume he wrote them, too. This song and many others (Who Wants To Live Forever, Too Much Love Will Kill You, etc.) were written by Brian May. So when one attributes the meaning of the lyrics to the singer it doesn't match. Some of these songs were written for or about Freddie by his band mates.

Considering this song was released in 1978 (when I was a junior in college…..Ah, good times, ha ha), I’m not sure what else they could have called this song other than Fat Bottomed Girls. Back then, I don’t think any (successful) group used the word ‘ass’ in song titles. Plus you have to keep in mind that these guys are British (or were, in Freddie’s case ☹️). Maybe ‘fat-bottomed’ was or is a typical way to describe someone’s behind in England, and that’s why they used it. Or maybe it just fit the song better than any other descriptor. Who knows? A challenging song to perform well, but, as usual, Queen makes it look easy. Thanks for this and all of your Queen reactions! And good luck learning that German!

The thing to remember is that Mr. Mercury didn't write every song Queen made. The straight members wrote about straight guy in the 70's stuff.

Free your mind, and your ass will follow... glad you are expanding your list and it includes some queen... queen did the soundtrack for Highlander (1986 cult classic about immortals who could only die if their head was cut off, then their energy passed to the immortal that took it. In the end... There can be only one!) . The top three songs are ... who wants to live forever, princes of the universe, give me the prize ( the bad guy's song)...

Queen's 7th studio album was given to my mother by her two nieces and we played it a lot learning every little detail about each of the songs. Controversy came in the enclosed poster of the first ever nude bicycle race, which is included in
While he wrote this, Freddie wrote the B side to this Bicycle Race. Controversy came in the enclosed poster of the first ever nude bicycle race, and the video is R Rated because it has video of that "race". Both songs reference each other (get on your bikes and ride) and Bicycle Race has the line "Fat Bottomed Girls will be riding today..."
Three songs that get left out from this album include the title track, More of That Jazz written and sung by drummer Roger, Dreamers Ball written by Brian as a tribute to Elvis and sung by Freddie where Brian tweaks amplifiers to make his guitar sound like different instruments in a regular band, and Don't Stop Me Now, probably the happiest sounding song of all time.
Looking forward to your next venture.

Yes. Freddie was gay, but this song was written by Brian May, the lead guitarist.
All four members wrote songs for the group. The two other songs you have reacted to, "Somebody To Love" and "Bohemian Rhapsody", though, were both written by Freddie.
Other interesting facts that I don't think anyone has mentioned yet, is that the guitar that Brian May is playing was built in his garage by he and his father and he is still using it concerts today.
Another fun fact, all four members have college degrees. Freddie has a degree in graphic design and illustration; Brian May has a degree in physics and has done graduate work in astronomy; Roger Taylor has a degree in biology; and John Deacon earned a degree in electronics with first-class honors.

One of his greatest memes I've ever seen said, "Astrophysicist B May, assisted by F Mercury, in the 70s asserted that Fat Bottomed Girls make the world go around. To this day, no one has scientifically proven this to be wrong & therefore is now fact." LMAO 😂🤣😂🤣

Another good one, agreed it's a fun song to listen to. This reminds me, is Toby Keith's "Not as Good as I Once Was" on your list of reactions? If it'd be a fun reaction to that video. Hilarious, even if you don't like country.

A great album cut by Queen is from their album called A Day At The Races. It is called White Man. One of the great things about Queen is the fact that their album cuts also have so very much to offer and often rival their hits. If all you are hearing are the hits by Queen, you are definitely cheating yourself, especially their album cuts from the 1970's!

Seeing faces in things that do not have faces is called Pareidolia. It might just be a chance thing if it doesn't happen to you often but a lot people will see them often in inanimate objects (rocks, trees, cars, etc) anything really. I've had it happen with so many things.
