Yeah!! But he didn't miss any note singing or missplay the guitar. Drunk but connect in the show, a lil bit slow, still great as the resto of the boys as well.
@MTC I wouldn't say Luke was drunk, just singing a bit differently than usual I suppose, plus lets not forget his illness kicked in with full force not long after this
@@Mr.Derogatory316 luke was not falling ill......it was 1978 when he started getting blackouts and in 1980 he collapsed in Cork Opera house and had surgery and found out it was a tumour

I'm trying to search the year of this?..Can you recall? They seem really really ON, and settled, but Luke seems really tired, of course. My oh my, were you lucky..
From looking at the dates of this performance and the when Ciaráns health started to decline. It’s likely this performance was a matter of hours after Ciarán had to leave the band and fly home to Ireland. The lacklustre of the boys and the clear overindulgence in porter beforehand now seems well earned.
Wow, I'm pretty sure they could only perform drunk in front of such a terrible audience. The audience is well in sync with the german narrator. Maybe they had opera tickets and went into the wrong building? Edit: Wow, absolutely amazing production, cutting out in the middle of "Black Velvet Band". Incredible. But Luke Kelly saying "I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did." made my day. xD
It could be that caused by this expected „fantastic“ audience, Ronnie thought the only way to „survive“ this evening is to drink some beers in advance.
@accurate. I red that John Sheahan paid him till his dead in 1988. After Ronnie left Jim McCann came to join. When Ronnie came back Jim left, so still four of them. Somewhere beginning of the 80s Sean Cannon joined to fall in for Luke Kelly. After Ciarán (without Luke Kelly) Eamon Campell joined and they were again with five in the group untill 1988
@@gconthemic2502 In may 1974 a brain hemorrhage between the two halves of the concert and on the operation table immidiately second one (I heard/read).
So good to see the original group in the early days. They were and always will be great. Thank you boys.
Aye
Seen the Dubliners many many times through the years, thank God I did. Rip Lads.
Amen
That's OK bb
I am a big fan over 30 years. Ronnie was so drunk at this gig. He sang very slowly🙈Especially „Donnegal Danny“!

Can I hear Donnegal Danny

The version of whiskey in this is just savage. My favourite version by a long shot
We want more!! We want more!! We want more!! We want more!!

One of the best ever.the dubliners
good to see them young and healthy.
...and Ronnie very drunk.
The audience was only acceptable when being drunk. What sleeping audience!
Sadly Luke was falling ill at this time and started to deteriorate quickly

Same honestly. He said it with meaning as opposed to just a gesture
Thank god for the Irish!

😂
This was right after Ciaran had a brain hemorrhage and eventually Ronnie Drew would leave the group right after this concert
I have just learned that the guys continued to pay Ciaran as though he were still performing for the rest of his life.

Donegal Danny.
Isn't there supposed to be a fifth member? Seems like someone is missing
Perhaps at this time Ciaron was unable to perform because of contracting cancer.

What a very subdued audience, they were not interacting at all
Ronnie was drunk
Very often most of them would be a bit tipsy, but they had their fair share of drink while performing
Can't tell
What a lame crowd.
Ronnie knew it in advance and took some drinks😂
