Extremely helpful video. I want to point out that I kept getting a 'Controller Error', and your mention of upgrading pinMame fixed everything. Thank You
Thanks very much for the video I was a little worried about upgrading especially as I was running both 32 bit and 64 bit. Will be getting up to date tonight though.
the reason to install 10.8 32bit is the new low latency mode. Swap to "Frame Pacing " mode in the input / physics options for a massive difference. It no longer ties the physics to the game frame rate so input latency is now both constant, and much lower.
I just watched your installation for 10.8. . i was wondering if it is necessary to install 10.7. A huge thank you for your installation video. I want to learn how to add tables. thanks again
Not necessary to keep 10.7, but I would due to SOME older tables not working well in the 10.8 beta, YET. I would say you are safe on 95% of the tables out there.
Love it, your stuff is always top notch! Any chance you could do a vid showing how to get SSF working with FX3 for folks that installed everything using Baller Installer? The only tutorials are all a bit outdated in that respect and I'm always fearful of messing with my setup unless I have your cool, confident tone walking me through the steps!
Nice and simple! Those of us who use pinup popper would need to set that table in popper config to use the 64bit VPX client, which was covered in the 64-bit video, as by defaul its going to launch the 32bit version, right?
Thanks to you I can finally play with the system 10.8 me too. You are the best. I just would like to ask you if someday you can explain how to use VR. Thanks in advance
Just performed the upgrade - for some reason now my playfield is not displaying... no idea as I've checked the display settings and previous versions display fine.

Hi Thank you for this tuturial. I Just upgrade to 10.08 when i load a table I still get "visual pinball error. this table was saved file V 10.8 " I cheked table info says VPX 10,72 64 bit final.
You are most welcome! You can open a table saved in another version, and then just ignore the message and then save the file once more, which will stop the error. If a table is saved in 10.8, and then you open it in a previous version, you will get that warning.
Great videos. I haven't upgraded or touch my system let alone played in last year or so. Should I still follow the last two videos to a T or have there been any steps I can skip like keeping old 10.7 and 32?
I have found most of the tables out there are running stable on 64 bit 10.8, but I have kept some of the older stuff just in case. Your call, likely safe to skip those 2 steps.
I just completed this upgrade, both actually, 64 Bit and VPX 10'8. The only problem I have is I can't use edit. I cannot double click the vpt and get to edit. Did I do something wrong? The instructions are very explicit (Great Job) actually y'd have to go out of your way to error this. Thanks for that.
No, but .vpt sounds like old VP9 format. The new stuff is all .vpx. I would go back to 10.72 if you are trying to use tables written in the older format. A lot of old edits in the script like volume levels, day/night slider, and more can now be found in the in-game POV menu system.
The lighting looks awesome on Johnny Mnemonic. Does 10.8 do that to all of the lighting, or just the ones that implement new options in 10.8? -- Looks like an easy upgrade. I always watch these for the vpinball gotchas. Thanks!
Did exactly this (except with a newer x64 release) and not only do the 10.8 tables not work, now the older tables don't work, either. The video only later says about the whole VPinMame thing, mine seems to be 32bit, though I don't know why I would have installed anything 32bit if I had the option a year ago when I installed 10.7.2 (without any problems). Eh, I guess I'll just keep playing 10.7.2, this just makes me hate the whole thing.
thanks for making the video. I am interested in adding more tables. I just saw your video on how to install 10.8. I was wondering is this the only file that I need to add 10.8 tables?

Are you opening the tables directly in VPX, or using Popper to launch? I am not sure why you are seeing this, most get an error if they are missing a library file or something. If you are running stand alone, did you rename your .exe files so you still have 64-bit and 32-bit?
Hey Marty. Thank you for the reply and your help. You are awesome. Yes. I tried to open directly on VPX. C windows/V pinball/ Visual Pinball In my Visual Pinball folder, I have my 32 bit VPinballX and then the 64 bit beta 5. I followed your video, and right after I installed the 64 bit, I went back to my 32 bit VPinballX 10.7.4, opened it tried to load a 32 bit table, I didn't get the loading bar and then nothing It just stopped. In your video, you were able to load a 32 bit table. I didn't see anything in the video about renaming. Am I supposed to? Sorry if I'm sounding stupid. I do use Popper. I had to use my back up to get my tables working again. One other question. The GitHub install is supposed to be x64 and not 86, right? Thank you.
Thanks for the tutorial. One question though, ever since I've done what the tutorials says, whenever I try to run any tables whatsoever, I get a script error 'controller'. What can I do to fix this error? I can't run any tables now...
That usually stems from a C++ runtime file missing, see if the all in one helps www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/
Previously I installed 10.7.2 using an installer available on vpforums. I play exclusively on single-screen desktop, and something in that installation allowed me to simply double-click a .vpx file to launch the game immediately. The "quit" option in the esc menu also quit VPX entirely instead of going to the editor. In 10.8, I haven't been able to find that setting. Do you know where it's located?
To quit in 10.8, I have been hitting "q" multiple times, but agree it is different in the new versions, and I have reported this on the github page also.

Hi Marty, I see in the different groups that lots of people have issues with 64 bits, particularly with dof for the mx leds. I would like to go for VPX 10.8 as alternate launcher but in 32 bits and also keep my 10.7.3 for the regular tables. What do you think? In that case I think I can use your tutorial for upgrading to 64 bits but do it in 32 bits?
You should be able to follow the same for 32-bit, but if the DOF or MX is not working for someone, it was likely not moving the config into the new folder, or they needed a c++ file from Microsoft in most cases I saw.
Hi Marty - I'm kinda confused. Your previous video on upgrading to 64-bit seemed way more involved, yet this is so easy. What's the difference between these? Thanks!
