I love the play on words they use so much in this program. Dave Chapelle likes to say they stole his show, but they didn’t. They’re smarter comedy. Dave did his thing and it was in the best timing that America needed healing. Highest regards to both.
Chapelle is so petty for thinking that. His show was mostly improvised or riffed on outlines of a sketch and then put together in editing. The sketches that were fully written were incredible but had nowhere near Key and Peele range. Obviously, Chapelle show was almost entirely about racial issues and grievances. Key and Peele has a much wider view encompassing not only race but all kinds of human relation, pop culture, and just good classic sketch comedy. Chapelle wasn't a good actor either. And to top it off, he quit. Nobody took his show away from him, especially Key and Peele. Dave bailed.
Not the same by any means, but you could check out Pete Holmes and his skits about Ex-Men and Street Fighter. Not that similar but it's something i like to watch alongside Key and Peele. Also Alternatino isn't too bad.
