I just wanted to say thanks for these videos. I recently acquired a 1997 G16 from a friend who said it randomly started bogging down and wouldn't start again. He paid someone $350+ to work on it and the guy never got it running. We have no idea what the guy actually did. Anyways, I cleaned carb (seemed fine), no luck. Bought a new carb, still no luck. Bought a new fuel pump, still no luck... not being experienced I installed all the hoses exactly where I took them off from. After many hours and frustration the fix was actually looking up the schematic drawings as well as watching your videos to see exactly where everything went. The hoses were installed completely wrong. Whoever worked on this before me had the fuel line going into the wrong side of the carburetor. It was completely flooding the carb with fuel whenever you gave it any gas. He had the fuel-in side of the carburetor connected to the PCV hose on the crank case. Very frustrating, but I learned a lot about these motors the last couple days. Thanks again.
Have a 2019 fuel injected Yamaha gas cart, new to me...... You and Power Equipment Man are the go to UA-cams on this cart....Ty
The carburetor and the spark plug are the most convenient for an engine start failure if you do not clean both of them the engine will not start.
And another trick is if your fuse blows if you have a soda can take the tab off break it in half and use that as a fuse it work for me plenty of times 👍
In a pinch, sure. This is not a good long term solution. There is a fuse for a reason. If it keeps blowing then you need to find out why.
Always great videos
is there any fuel air ajustments on the carburetor
I have a 2000 G16A and it cranks but won't fire. Got spark carb cleaned what else could it be.
Love the videos, but I must have missed this info.
Can you tell me how many turns should the needle values be at in general.
Thanks in advance!
Hi Kev, I’ve replaced all my carb, pump etc but cart is struggling start under load but is fine in neutral. Any ideas
G16 and G17A has the same engine except the airbox. Can you teach me how to remove the governor? Do you have an FB page sir?
I found that it’s best to run high test gas so the new gas won’t mess thing up an gym up
I always recommend ethanol free gas where available. I have seen a significant decrease in carb and fuel issues. The higher octane fuels still contain ethanol. These engines were not designed for ethanol based fuels.
Kevin's Golf Carts I have always used high test an when not upswing I put stabilizing in it
I have all run a ethanol free fuel in my carts with a fuel stabilizer for when it had to sit for awhile
I just bought a 1982 Yamaha golf cart that will start and run, but travels very, very slow
I’ve got a 01 club car ds and it backfires through the exhaust after riding for a short period. I’ve changed the carb, air filter, fuel filters, spark plug. I just can’t seem to understand the backfiring.
Hey Kevin great videos 👍. I have a G16 gas that keeps blowing the fuse when starting, funny thing is it still keeps starting and running. Just not charging. Have you ever come across something like this before?
Something is shorting out or wired incorrectly somewhere. Its possible the solenoid is starting to fail.
Hey guys 2000 Yamaha g16A, I've cleaned carburetor, new plug, fresh gas, new filter, and cart still sputtering and back firing? Any suggestions for next move?? Help
Hey good video I have a question though what is the little black tip go to on the side of the carburetor closet to the motor block that moves back and fourth
Its a fuel mix screw. Its usually set at the factory and doesn't require any adjustment.
I followed your video and cleaned the carb on our EZ go. It would start but not go. Now fuel is draining from the over flow valve. Any suggestions?
The float is sticking open, float valve is damaged or incorrectly assembled. The float is not closing and fuel is continuing to flood the carb. You will have to disassemble it again to make sure everything is where it belongs.
My 92 club car has been working fine, today I got on no crank, solenoid is clicking with good juice on starter side. Starter no spin. 🤔???
Brushes may be failing inside the starter/generator.
my g16 barley moves any help? it cranks but never goes fast
You need to check the basics first. Does it have spark? Is the fuel pump pumping when you crank the engine? Is the air filter clean? If yes to those, then move on to the carburetor. You will need to pull it apart and clean it.
@@Kevinsgolfcarts no spark and fuel pumps carburetor is good
air filters clean to
really like your vids.. just bought a used G16A... belt is squeaking a tad and sometimes it seems to "bog down" ...I pull the choke and then it runs really smooth... what are the inspection criteria for the drive belt as when it needs replacement?? any suggestions on the "bogging down"... ??? LIKED & 'scribed...
Which belt is squeaking? If the starter/generator belt is squeaking, it may need to be adjusted. Those usually only squeal when they are loose and when you first start. It shouldn't have more than about an inch of deflection. If the drive belt is squeaking, measure its width. Replace it if its 1 inch or less wide. A new belt should be 1.22 inches wide. As for bogging down, remove and clean the carb. There's probably dirt or water in the bowl.
@@Kevinsgolfcarts thank you !! I will check the width... I couldn't find the inspiration criteria in the PDF manual so thank you much for the info...
No problem. Do a search for Yamaha G16A service manual. It should lead you to a PDF of the manual.
@@Kevinsgolfcarts I Have the PDF manual but cant seem locate the inspiration criteria...all I see is it says to check conditions of belt for slippage but no actual specs...
You must have the operator manual. There is a service manual that outlines all of the specs, capacities, intervals, etc.
Hi I have a golf cart that some times runs and then when it does run it spits n sputters then shuts off and won’t run then you wait a little and it goes again, it’s that the carburetor? Btw it’s a gas powered one
What is the year, make and model?
Not sure about year or model but it’s a Yamaha
Okay I found the serial number and did some research it’s a 1998 Yamaha ultima G16. And it’s the gas powered one.
Pull the carb and clean it. Also check fuel flow from the line going to the carb when you disconnect it.
Rookie. ...lol
