Thanks for showing my mineral licence in Chambers Cove when your talking about the St Lawrence Fluorite on the Burin Penn of Newfoundland... the Fluorite veins are in the pink granite just right of the photo; the vein I discovered was just over the ridge.
So true-never a dull moment. I still learn something new every time I visit a mine of any kind. Thanks for watching and I am glad you enjoy the lessons!
Brilliant class on Fluorite, Paul! Thank you so much, once again for helping me/us all learn about one of my personal favourite stones... it is truly so colourful! Thank you for always bringing such an entertaining and clear, easy to learn and absorb knowledge of my favourite topics, stones... :) Have a terrific rest of your weekend.
Thank you so much, Penny. I obviously enjoy the subject matter and also love to make it simple to understand. I think some people get intimidated with gemstones and I love to strip away the mystery and make it approachable. By the way I suspect you are also from the UK (like the previous subscriber). The signature words that tip me off: Brilliant; the spelling of Favourite, and the spelling of Colourful! We heathens in the USA took your language and ignored the spelling (I joke about that in my first book). Sorry about that! Glad you enjoy the lessons!
Fluorite I only like in its natural form tho I do have a alligator carved out of it , and a few towers in fluorite . Your right it scratches easy ! Awesome class !
I love Fluorite. I have so much of it too. I have color change Fluorite too beautiful purple blue green yellow ect... I have a major collection of different stones some very rare and exotic ones too. I collect faceted gems, different gems in Jewelry and bead stones I make my own jewelry too.
Not yet we don’t, but I plan on doing one in the future. Your question is very appropriate on the heels of the Fluorite lesson. Tourmaline, much like fluorite, comes in many varied colors! Thank you so much for watching the lessons!
Thank you Paul, I have a Blue John pendant from Derbyshire but did not appreciate the connection with fluorite until watching this weeks lesson, would you be able to include Aqua aura sometime in the future please, as in, is it a real gem or man made, thank you so much really look forward to watching each week from here in the uk
My pleasure, Violet. I am glad you are enjoying the lessons. As for Aqua Aura: It is a genuine gem. It is not man made or laboratory created. However, it is treated by man. It is genuine quartz that is treated with irradiation in the presence of gold to create that aquamarine blue color. By the way, I spent about 6 weeks in the UK about 20 years ago working with QVC UK. Had a great time and did my share of traveling the neighborhood on my days off: Edinburgh (played at the old course), Ireland (my heritage-kissed the blarney stone). York (saw the William Wallace statue), and Paris. The typical American Tourist-seeing all of these places on a 2 or 3 day trip.

I appreciate your education, your information re:gems. It's all fascinating to me. Always loved geology, gems, fossils. Mother Nature at her best!

Stones like Kyanite and Iolite are soft stones and you cant use metal on it like tweezers and such. Love the video keep up the great work. :)

I totally agree. Really pretty colors, but better in specimens than in jewelery

How do I hand polish fluorite? Mine had a polish but something spilled on it so now it's dull. What do I use?
Do we have a video about tourmaline?
