As an actual real Turk who knows her actual ancestors for more than 8 generations, I am feeling SICK TO MY STOMACH and thoroughly embarrassed for what the current ruling party has turned Turkey into. Our great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is turning in his grave. The real Türks, who have not lost their true identity - know their original tolerance towards any religions. Moreover, we are very well aware that there are Turkic people of any religion. Let us not forget that Khazars were Jewish, yet they are our blood relatives because they were Turkic.
He is stating a fear which is normal because he does not know Türkiye. Do you think Turkish people will attack a person because of his/her religion? They despise what their state is doing to Palestinians but not the people. Those are two different things. Let’s not get political and jump the conclusion.
@@Erhan112His fear isn’t entirely wrong. I was in Alanya in 2005. 2005 I tell you. An old hotel guard offered me Cola with cookies. So I sat down with him. He put a lot of sugar inside the drink (never seen that before) and suddenly put his thumb up and said ‘Hitler,’ while smiling. I was shocked. Then I discovered that Mein Kampf (Kavgam) is one of the best sellers in Turkey. Especially those who adhere to the Grey Wolves, are sometimes very violent and hold a lot of nasty superstitions about Jews. Also don’t forget, Erdogan himself used to read Kavgam with pride when he was in high school. He also wrote an extreme (theatre) play when he was already a young adult: Maskomya. In which he basically attacked masons, communists and Jews in a weird conspiracy theory. Of course the majority of the Turks won’t be weird. But it only takes one madman to freak out. And then there is the huge Syrian community throughout Turkish inner cities.

All the best to you and your lovely family.
I am Muslim and all through my upbringing I was very unaware of antisemitism as I have been raised to love every race on this earth. The first time I witnessed antisemtism was when I had a colleauge who was from Israel. At first I never knew she was from Israel until I asked her. I remember I was so overjoyed with so much excitement cause I had studied so much about Jewish culture and always hoped I would have a friend from Israel someday. She told me ”please don’t tell anyone I am israeli”.. while she was feeling fear, I was feeling pride… the pride that she should be feeling coming from Israel, why was I the one feeling proud for her? Then I realised, that maybe this is why I don’t have many friends from Israel? Cause many of them fear for their lives just by saying they are from Israel. After a while somehow it got out that she was from Israel, a man at the same work place shouted ”go to hell” to her, I threw a bottle at his head and I lost my job and also the jerk. I would do it all over again if I ever come across someone antisemitic.
I can understand and relate to your approach from personal experience. Besides Jewish people around the world, this potential danger also affects people who belong to a religious minority with roots in the Middle East when they openly display their identity in Muslim-majority countries. This includes groups like the Bahá'í, Druze, or Yazidis. I, for one, revealed my background as a Yazidi to an Arab fruit vendor years ago when he asked about my religion. When I told him about my Yazidi background, he took his curved knife, held it at neck level, and swiped it from left to right in a gesture. This happened in 2014 when ISIS was in the midst of massacring many Yazidis in the Sinjar region and abducting women to keep them as slaves. I was both perplexed and shocked. It made me realize that human rights aren't upheld equally everywhere. Regrettable. Nevertheless, as you've already mentioned, we shouldn't be discouraged. Thank you for your encouraging words. I wish you a safe journey and send you warm regards. From Germany, Michael.

I’m so sorry. Having to go through this with your family in tow must have been incredibly stressful. Not being able to feed your children a real meal bc of fear is probably (hopefully) nothing I’ll ever have to experience. That was the most heartbreaking part of this story. I hope you are home safe now in TX. I am not Jewish (Irish Italian Catholic) but worked in a group of conservative and Orthodox Jewish day schools for five years and I had never known a practicing Jew prior to that. Hi Shloime, glad you're safe. Just for a point of reference, we were in Istanbul in December 2019 and ran into a huge, raucous street party/concert. It was the Sefardi community celebrating Hanukkah!

Even if nobody was going to physically hurt you it probably saved you and your family from a lot of stressful interactions conversations and situations that could have arisen and of course the real possibility of violence. Never in my lifetime did I think I’d witness what is happening in October now November of 2023 . I’m not Jewish, but my heart goes out to you and your family and all the Jewish people who are scared right now. My heart also goes out to the innocent victims of the war on both sides. I think we all have a reason to be careful right now. No matter what race or religion or non religious person you are. They’re is a lot of hatred towards every group and division amongst people. I hope things get better ❤️🩹

Those older generations were Ortomans and Palesitne was Türk land. 🇹🇷
Someone gotta stick up for the dead Palestinian babies …
Typical chp voter. Of course you are full of BS.
@@mrcollier4829 please google the etimology of the word "Palestine", how did it start, who started it, then learn about the Jewish history. If there is at least one person of Turkic roots in Israel - I will stand by Israel. The so called "Palestinians", on the other hand stabbed Turks in the vack numerous times. First, they betrayed Ottomans, then they created the armenian terrorist organization "asala" and until this very day they are playing against us. In Qarabağ war they stood up with armenian terrorists, armenia - and of course pkk - have very strong ties to palestinian terrorists. So, no. Please Shloime be cautious and vigilant. Blessings to you and your family always - especially now. Keep us posted.
This hatred in America needs to stop. Continue your journey as it will not go unnoticed. Peace and Love and Safety to you and your family.
The hatred in america will not stop with the policies people are advocating for. Also, if you are a believer in end time prophecies, it will get a lot worse.
The hatred is all over the world. Not just the US. People need to stop hating others of different religions
@@believingintheblood8540 For starters it would be refreshing to see Americans flying American flags and to identify as Americans and not identify as foreign countries. It's ok to have roots and foreign ancestory, but we need to drop the Palestinian flags & Israel flags on US Soil and raise the USA flag and unite as Americans. We don't need the foreign bs here.

I'm sorry to hear you and your family went through such scary times. You and you family seem like such nice, kind, peaceful people. Please, stay safe! You are very important ambassador for your faith and religious Jews in general.... Ugh... That ending... I hope it turned out OK. That would be terrifying.
Hey Shloime, im really glad your enjoying Turkiye. I'm a Turkish-American and have so many orthodox jewish friends.
I doubt it, acquaintances maybe, business connections?
I am glad you can recognize when it is time to protect the family any way you can. Its depressing to know that anyone cant be them.
Shlomie, stay safe, and don’t stop your endeavors to build bridges where none exist. Shalom🕊🇳🇮🇺🇸
Shloime, I have followed you for a bit now. As an American Jewish woman, I truly appreciate the work and education that you do. It is horrific, the atrocities that are going on around this world. Thank you for sharing and explaining during this tumultuous and dangerous time. I too was traveling over Simchat Torah when I learned of the attacks and actually covered my Mogen David jewelry on my return flights. 😢 Keep spreading the education and JOY of our people. And a pom-pom suited you just right for the purpose. Be safe.

An update would be nice.
It truly makes my heart hurt that you have to deal with this and take such drastic actions to keep you and your family safe. I will continue to pray for all Jewish people around the world and for the hate in peoples hearts to be replaced with kindness

@ShloimeZionce are you back to your home?
Hi Shloime, I am so sorry you had to go through this anxiety in Turkiye. It is a bad time for all Jews -- especially the Israelis. It is so stressful time for all the Jews seeing what our people in Israel had to suffer. I always loved Turkiye. Have they also turned against the Jewish people. That would be painful. I hope you are safely at home now with your family.

First: I understand your wife completely!!! Children need safety.
And second: I admire you how you present yourself as Jew, wherever you are.
And: not pathetic or sentimental ment, the world -we- need desperately people like you; people with an open mind, not giving up their identity, abd daring to shake hands with the other!!! Hope you go on on this path, also as a kind of a role model. We all want real peace.
Hope you still believe in your mission. Shalom🌻
What a difficult situation you and your family in particular and all the jewish people in the world have to go through right now. May G-d richly bless you for your efforts to reach out to the Muslim community. May you be safe!
I send you and your family my prayers for your safety!
I know the history. The hate must stop. There must be peace in the Middle East. God bless and keep you safe
I'm praying for all Jews everywhere. This is unbelievable. I stand with Israel! I always will.
From Germany, Michael.
meine fresse bruder !das tut mir leid .aber warum hat das dich erstaunt als yazidi kennst du dich aus haval. war das wirklich das erste mal das du sowas erlebt hast ?rosh bash and much love

I'm Turkish-Jewish and I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. I hope one day, the Turkish people will come back, to reality and wake up from this brainwashing and fascist lifestyle.
Hi , do you speak Turkish ?
Dear friend , not all the Turkish people think or feel against Jewish community , for at least one as i am ( and i am sure there are millions like me ) , you are an integral part of our society , we all had/have Jewish friends, neighbors and i hope it will be better against all this radicalism and goverments in the nearest future .
I know you from Peter's video. As a Turk, I am sorry that you had such an experience. I hope we will soon live in a world where people can live more comfortably as themselves. Nice crocs btw.

You are so right it’s very important to make bonds with other communities. I learned so much, not only about Judaism and the Jewish community but even about my own religion. Barach Hashem. (I think that’s right?)
Thank you for spreading peace and goodwill. Cheers!
I’m trying. Thanks for your kind words.
Eep! That last bit is a scary cliffhanger! I know it all turns out okay, but this one adventure that I wish you and your family wasn’t having.
You know what's a really good way to have peace? Be peaceful. It's really not a difficult thing to do.
Hi Shloime, glad you're safe. Just for a point of reference, we were in Istanbul in December 2019 and ran into a huge, raucous street party/concert. It was the Sefardi community celebrating Hanukkah!
Just be safe. Sadly hate is taught to children, and because they only are reinforced that and know no Jewish folks they never question it. May whatever delays you experience be HaShem protecting your family and you.
I’m so sorry that you feel
You have to do this. My heart goes out to you. I can not lie and say I do not feel for the civilians on both sides. No one should have to live in such fear. Love to you and your beautiful family from Liverpool U.K. ♥️♥️ x

Shalom shloime ... never forget that the turks were the only ones who kept their doors open to jews throughout the history .... we don't harm nobody who does not harm us .... we know the difference between innocent humans and wrong politics .....
I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’m sure it was a very difficult decision for you, but you also had your wife and children to think about and it the heat of the situation it was probably the safest thing.
Never stop, and persist promoting peace among Jews, Arabs, and Muslims.
