My sister was friends with a Jordanian girl who lived in our neighborhood, when her parents found out we are Jewish they no longer allowed her to come to their house. Unfortunately my friend you’re the exception and islamic antisemitism is built in to the religion from its very earliest inception.

Try not to be mad wtih the airlines and the policies they have to keep. My dad was an airline pilot for many years and after 9/11 a lot of things changed. Just imagine from a basic safety standpoint if it was that easy to miss your plane and have it let back open to hastily let someone on. That is the perfect time for a mistake to be made. My dad was in the air on 9/11 and fortuntately, only stuck in Dallas for a week.... but when they released the pictures of the terrorists on the planes, my dad saw a familiar face. One of those menn had asked to tour his cockpit, he politely declines. You can't give people an inch when so much is at stake. Just be thankful for the meticulous people who let you get mad at them all day long. I'm glad you had the chance to brighten some other days while you were stuck.

Just goes to show, the universal idea no matter what religion (or none), that sometimes, what seems to be a bad situation can turn out to be really fulfilling..we can learn and, in this case, you helped so many people. Wow! Such an amazing, beautiful experience! I don't travel much but a couple of times I've gone to Crown Heights. Flying there was fine but for the flight home, I wasn't so sure. I thought there would be some at JFK but I couldn't find any. Anyway, one time, the nice lady I stayed with prepared sandwiches for me and the other time a Jewish family saw me and offered me food. I was more worried about them taking food from them as they had several small children. Don't worry about me, feed the children. Not to worry, they said, they had enough for a few meals because they didn't know what they'd find when they landed. I told them about several Chabad Rabbis in the area and to call them to find out which stores and restaurants are in the area where they're starting. Long story short, we all had food, BH! Watching your videos, I'm learning that it is possible to travel and stay kosher! I'm so glad you and your family got out of Turkey safely although it wasn't easy. I'm happy that you found your Tefillin. Your wife deserves a lot of kudos for that flight home with the children. Hashem gave her extra hands and patience!

At the end of your previous video, when you said you were stranded in Istanbul, but your family was on the plane, I thought something happened at security and the authorities had detained you for some reason. I guess the real reason for you being stranded in Istanbul airport was to provide food to other Jews.

I lost Tefillin, I work at Dicks Sporting Goods, and carry tefillin on me everyday at work, openly and clearly. I have wrapped other people while working at the registers, on the floor, whenever I am asked! I left my Tefillin at the register I was working and left to help another person. I came back, gone. Someone saw the velvet bag and thought "oh.. jewelry" or something. Heartbreaking. I would say it felt like loosing a child.... The tears and sweat and prayers I have shed and produced while wearing them... The heart and soul poured into them, devastating. A week or so ago i got an email. Someone had found the Tefillin abandoned near the mall they were stolen from. They picked them up, took them to sofer for any repairs needed and wanted to return them. I asked when the last time they wrapped was, and this person said "my bar mitzvah, 46 years ago" I wrote back "then i guess you have no excuse to not wrap from now on, dont ya". Yes it was painful to loose a pair, but they landed where they needed to be. To have this person use those tefillin daily was more important.
Another bagel story. I was travelling to the Chabad Kinnus in November. In the airplane, a Chabad rabbi was giving Jews Bagels and cream cheese! That's the spirit of Chabad!
I have a question. Now, I know there are different levels of keeping kosher (I am definitely not the strictest), but aren't, say, apples or nuts always kosher? Depending on the airport, I suppose, you might not be able to get plain food like that. But considering you would be putting your health at risk not eating for days, wouldn't eating something that is most likely kosher and not putting your health at risk take precedence (pekuach nefesh)? I'm not pointing the finger, I'm just curious.
I though the same thing. And when I was in Turkey I was able to find fruit and vegetables. I was not however stuck in the airport. I imagine that water and apples is not nearly as satisfyingly as a bagel. Also I went years ago back then the Rabbi (a different one) was not at all helpful about helping people find kosher food.
This may be a stupid question but aren't there items you could buy at the airport that could be considered kosher? Wouldn't almost any vegan or vegetarian option work in this scenario? Turkish cuisine has many vegetarian options that I'm sure were available at the airport.

I can understand why you were stressed but your stress emanates from the video. You are not your typical inspiring self. Yes, you are using the opportunity to distribute kosher food but emotionally you have not transcended the situation (totally human).

I am Turkish and no longer use Turkish Airlines. I am boycotting Turkish Airlines almost 6 years because they burn my tickets .They didn’t allow me getting to gate .They burned my flight ticket Istanbul to Izmir.When I go to Turkey I use Lufthansa or United Airlines.Turkish Airlines is Insane.Turkish Airlines not anymore 1990’s Turkish Airlines.Because unprofessional people work there.
I'm not in a position to judge what you said vis a vis Turkish Airlines then and now, but part of professionalism in aviation is to decline requests to get on a plane after the gate is shut. For security reasons if nothing else. You know, safety standards are written in blood.
I grew up pretty frum at least for a time, I went to Jewish day schools, camps, etc. how can I find a chabad that would posssibly invite me and my husband for Shabbos, I’m pretty shy. I live in SF, and feel very Lonely right now

Has nothing to do with him being Jewish like some comments or any one treating them wrong. Airlines all have regulations I feel bad this happened but this would of happened to anyone and in any religion. Keep up the good videos

I lost Tefillin, I work at Dicks Sporting Goods, and carry tefillin on me everyday at work, openly and clearly. I have wrapped other people while working at the registers, on the floor, whenever I am asked!
I left my Tefillin at the register I was working and left to help another person. I came back, gone. Someone saw the velvet bag and thought "oh.. jewelry" or something. Heartbreaking. I would say it felt like loosing a child.... The tears and sweat and prayers I have shed and produced while wearing them... The heart and soul poured into them, devastating.
A week or so ago i got an email. Someone had found the Tefillin abandoned near the mall they were stolen from. They picked them up, took them to sofer for any repairs needed and wanted to return them. I asked when the last time they wrapped was, and this person said "my bar mitzvah, 46 years ago"
I wrote back "then i guess you have no excuse to not wrap from now on, dont ya".
Yes it was painful to loose a pair, but they landed where they needed to be. To have this person use those tefillin daily was more important.
I love that you turned that rotten bit of luck into such a positive thing.
Another bagel story. I was travelling to the Chabad Kinnus in November. In the airplane, a Chabad rabbi was giving Jews Bagels and cream cheese! That's the spirit of Chabad!

I have a question. Now, I know there are different levels of keeping kosher (I am definitely not the strictest), but aren't, say, apples or nuts always kosher? Depending on the airport, I suppose, you might not be able to get plain food like that. But considering you would be putting your health at risk not eating for days, wouldn't eating something that is most likely kosher and not putting your health at risk take precedence (pekuach nefesh)? I'm not pointing the finger, I'm just curious.
I though the same thing. And when I was in Turkey I was able to find fruit and vegetables. I was not however stuck in the airport. I imagine that water and apples is not nearly as satisfyingly as a bagel. Also I went years ago back then the Rabbi (a different one) was not at all helpful about helping people find kosher food.

This may be a stupid question but aren't there items you could buy at the airport that could be considered kosher? Wouldn't almost any vegan or vegetarian option work in this scenario? Turkish cuisine has many vegetarian options that I'm sure were available at the airport.

I can understand why you were stressed but your stress emanates from the video. You are not your typical inspiring self. Yes, you are using the opportunity to distribute kosher food but emotionally you have not transcended the situation (totally human).
That human aspect just makes this all the more inspiring to me!! No one is perfect and his ability to focus on what good he can do despite the stress is the most inspiring thing here!!!

I am Turkish and no longer use Turkish Airlines. I am boycotting Turkish Airlines almost 6 years because they burn my tickets .They didn’t allow me getting to gate .They burned my flight ticket Istanbul to Izmir.When I go to Turkey I use Lufthansa or United Airlines.Turkish Airlines is Insane.Turkish Airlines not anymore 1990’s Turkish Airlines.Because unprofessional people work there.
I'm not in a position to judge what you said vis a vis Turkish Airlines then and now, but part of professionalism in aviation is to decline requests to get on a plane after the gate is shut. For security reasons if nothing else. You know, safety standards are written in blood.
He missed the flight and that's on him. Stop crying.
