Thanks! Yes definitely the most challenging one so far . . . until I started doing the following mod for the next episode! 😅 Glad you like the content!
Dude your skyactiv is the biggest inspiration for me, It used to be Colton Richer, but to find someone with the exact same car is crazy. The biggest thing I want to do is get a tune from DR Tune, I hope you plan to do that one day because im curious what your review will be like.
Hey I soo happy to hear you find inspiration from the videos!! I am definitely going to get a tune once the car has full bolt on which is pretty close to be there!
@@ChefBoyarDEEZ it’s stuff like suspension problems, I had to change a control arm and another broken piece from that region i forgot the name of it. Now I hear sounds on the bottom of the car when hitting bumps, even small minor bumps.
Wow, good atuff! I have a supercharged 2012 2.0L Skyactiv, and comparing logs with 3rd gen, it seems that my airflow is much more restricted because of the exhaust manifold/header. Would love to hear how this turns out!
That's awesome! I've been looking into the VT Supercharger too! From driving it for a few weeks now with this it seems to have helped the throttle response and feels like it wants to rev more freely, (my car defiantly needs a tune now 😅). It's also a bit hard to really see the difference from stock header because I swapped out the transmission for the Cx-5's 4.7 final drive one, so that affects the performance a lot too. The best way is to get the true MSDS headers, would see better gains from it. I did this because if you sell the cat the mod is essentially free, just uses your time. 👍
Did I see a small breather filter under the engine cover? What are you using that for? I put an oil catch can on my BL skyactiv, the breather filter caused a loss in power so I just used the plug.
Yes I use the breather filter on my cars, oil catch can I a great way to go for Direct injection cars. The reason I use the filter is so the air doesn't recirculate back in the intake, I haven't seen a lost in power in any of the cars I've done this nor my friend that has it on his car too. It's pretty strange you lost power with it, but I'm happy you found the solution with the catch can! 👍
Hey, bro, I think Mazda 3 is your true love, although there are many rust on car, I enjoy my Mazda 3 as well but can’t bear those rust, but I can’t do anything because salty winter.
So glad I have a 1st gen, there looks to be enough space to pull it straight up without all the pain you went through. I’ll find out in 2 weeks when I pull mine.
I have a magnaflow header upgrade with a small cat and my rear Motor mount ruined and that also ruined my flex pipe so I also upgraded to a corksport rear motor mount
Yeah it's a real pain to do lol I think the proper way to get to it it to drop the front subframe to be honest. I was almost at that point when I decided to cut the the flex off. Hope this helps! 👍
Thanks man. If I went the subframe route would the axle have to be removed? Just picked up my 6 speed 2012 after owning my 2012 automatic for a few months lol. The automatic developed a wierd lifter knock/tap sometimes when idling
I just got it welded on, one of the O2 is slightly father out but it didn't cause any issues with the reading or anything I was able to get tuned with it. Even if you are keeping the stock cat it should work well it's just the install that is challenging
@DrivingProduction Thanks for replying. I installed flex pipe yesterday, it wasn't easy but I managed somehow. Turns out there is leak somewhere else,I suspect muffler area.
You need to replace the resonator with a glass pack make it sound way nicer even with to catalytic converter’s on i have a 2013 mazda 3 gs sky and made the switch a few years back now it’s time to change the flex for me so i hope i can do it from underneath the car i already changed the rest like the resonator and i deleted the rear muffler that big thing was heavy tomorrow i will change the flex next week i have to do the clutch and ball joints then the week after that i have to change rear suspension and brakes
Yes I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the rest of the exhaust, driving it more for the last few months I really dislike the raspiness of the exhaust tone. That great I hope the work on you car went well!
Amazing job! This video got my attention cuz my 2012 Mazda 3 skyactiv has a leak right around the flange end of the flex pipe, and the whole flange is rusting away anyway so will probably need to replace the flex pipe and whatever it's attached to, i think resonator?? I haven't taken it into a shop yet to see what they can do, but should i expect big bucks to be spent on this?
If you bring it to a shop, it was a more labor intensive job so it might be more expensive, but it would still be cheaper than changing the complete manifold. Here's the link to the flex pipe, it is for the MZR engine so it does need to be welded on: mufflerexpress.ca/products/mazda-3-2-0l-converter-flex-repair-pipe-2010-2011
I know this is an old video, But i just purchased the flex pipe for my 2013 Mazda 3 skyactiv, So I'll have to go through all of this so that i can get this to work?
Hey pal , love the videos! However can you suggest a aftermarket headers/downpipe for 2.0L Skyactiv BL? I love the custom work you put into your header/downpipe!!
Hey I glad to hear you're enjoying the video's! The only headers I'm really aware of for the skyactiv BL is the MSDS one. Here's a link: www.msdsinc.com/ho334.html
Hey did you have to upgrade your fuel injector’s? I was thinking of running msds headers and use the corksport exhaust on my 2.5l with a cold air injen intake. Then take it to the Dino. I don’t wanna max out the stock injector’s
I didn't upgrade the injectors, since the skyactiv is direct injection I'm not sure if there's an upgrade available for it. I did recently upgrade my fuel pump in my latest video on the other hand. If you're staying N/A you should be fine with the stock injectors. Hope this helps!
Hey been following for a bit , I have a 2011 Mazda 3 sedan i 2.0l dual over head cam , it’s got a full 3” stright pipe and intake from k&n and a lot of other goodies , I seen in a previous video to this one that you bought a 2014 Mazda 6 throttle body to free up more power , will that 2014 throttle body with the bigger diameter fit on my NZR 2.0l so I can free up some power because my throttle body was as small as your stock one before you changed it out
Hey! Glad you've been following up with the content! Unfortunately the skyactiv and MZR engines aren't compatible. So the throttle body isn't interchangeable. I'm not sure if you could install the 2.5 or 2.3 throttle body from the MZR line up of engines. Would be something worth looking into! 👍
Hey, I’ve been following your channel for a while now. I gotta say your love for the car shows. I love my 2010 mazda3 2.0L. Unfortunately, my flex pipe has a leak and the garage is telling me to change the whole exhaust just for the flex pipe leak! What are your thoughts on it?
Thanks man! I would just change the flex pipe this is where I got mine! Hope this helps! mufflerexpress.ca/products/mazda-3-2-0l-converter-flex-repair-pipe-2010-2011
Hey.. I have mazda 2008 with clogged cat.. I hate this cat.. Want delete it but like low same sound.. Is the sound after upgrade still low after exhaust carbon stuck around the pipe?? And What size exactly the pipe you install??
Hey after the cat delete the car is louder but if you have the stock exhaust it shouldn't be too much more. Here's the website I got the pipe from: mufflerexpress.ca/collections/flex-repair-pipes-mazda-3/products/mazda-3-converter-flex-repair-pipe-2004-2009
@@DrivingProduction I know generally if you want delete cat for any car by replacing pipe.. Should with specific size according oem pipe and cat design.. To avoid loud sound.. So i don't know exactly what should do with my cat now 😢
not to be rude, but it sounds awful. like everyone’s straight piped honda civic. you do you, I guess. but tbh I’d get a resonator/muffler or something else to compensate or at least tone down the rasp. but I get the whole problem/s with the flex pipe. still, there are other solutions to such problems rather than to remove your cc’s lol
I totally agree it sound’s disgusting I felt embarrassed having a skyactiv 3 myself it definitely needs a resonator or 2 and maybe a better muffler but if I remember right he is using the stock ms3 exhaust
LoL yes it does sound more raspy for sure! The real test for me will be how it sounds under load while driving and if it's too raspy I have a spare resonator I can throw on it. With all honesty tuning the exhaust on this platform has been the most challenging to sound right 😅😅
@@brennanmessmer8983 yeah it is raspy and we'll see how it sounds under load but if it's still raspy I do have another aftermarket resonator to put on. I currently have a MS3 midpipe and 2.5 muffler on it.
That may be the most challenging mod yet on the car (?).
Bravo for the thought and effort you put on that project. It is a source of inspiration. 😊

I really like my Mazda 3 3011 sedan but it has wayyy too many problems to fix, I’ve already wasted so much money trying to keep it running
I don’t want to get rid of it but it might come to that
Ah man! That's too bad! Usually Mazda 3's are pretty reliable I hope you can figure something out!
@@DrivingProduction luckily it’s not engine problems, it’s most likely problems from the last owner that had it
I'm surprised to hear this. My 2012 Mazda 3 Skyactiv 6speed has 160k miles and we've never had any issues, just regular maintenance.

Thanks! I love the Blue too! It's a factory color so I did polish it. I did a video on it!

Yes 100% I already had a MS3 midpipe that I got extended to bolt on to the exhaust manifold with a 2ns cat delete
