I got a 2.3L 2008 mazda 3 hatchback with just a second cat delete, still have muffler and resonator, should make a video on the sound level since there's nothing out there 🤔
Just bought a 2007 mazda3 sport sedan with 57k miles. I’ll be sure coming back to this channel as I start my mod progress! Thanks for having so much info on the Mazda 3
I ended up doing a Resonator and Muffler delete, then straight piped it. Love the sound a lot. Edit: My car is a 2009 Mazda 3 S Grand Touring Hatchback
For the advocates of keeping resonator on, direct comparison time stamps: muffler delete: 2:55 muffler + cat delete: 5:15 looking into a 2008 Mazda 3 but theres a 2018 Fiesta St for the same price, the mazda is from a dealership low mileage, the fiesta is kinda a bargain but these time staps im tapping back n forth just to imagine whats possible.
I wish this video was made before I did my resonator delete paired with a muffler delete. If I were to do it over I would do 2nd cat and muffler delete with a high flow resonator
I just did a muffler delete in my manual mazda5, sound much better than the old auto mazda5 i muffler deleted because this time i just used a same diameter pipe and added a tip from another muffler with perforation in it. Will post a vid soon. I have couple of muffler delete in my channel from an auto mazda5. I may delete the 2nd cat and leave the resonator soon
I had another manual mazda5 last year and did a resonator delete and found out the 2nd cat was gutted, the car burns oil a LOT, and was trying to see if the 2nd cat was clogged. I just welded a down pipe after the gutted 2nd cat and sounds nice! Sold the van right away before I got a chance to take a vid
Had a 2006 2.0 hatch before I got my Speed3. Removed everything behind the cat and replaced with steel pipe. Cannot describe how loud that car was. Pretty quiet on start ups but ear melting while driving.
2007 Mazda Axela 2.0L. secondary cat delete, muffler delete, and 2 high flow resonators leading to X-force exhaust tip. one of the best for sure! have a shorts on account if you guys wanna see ! 🤙🏽
Ive got an 06 3i with a racingbeat stainless catback. The thing is throaty at low revs which is weird to say about a 4 banger but there it is. No pops, but it will burble. It honestly sounds best when lugging the engine in a high gear at low speed. Just loud enough to notice, without being annoying for long drives. No idea if they still sell em tho
Hey Colton can you explain in another video what the fuel economy is after the deletes? Doesn’t it effect it in someway? The cats keep dangerous fumes out. Maybe instead of deleting, replacing the exhaust system with better parts seems more viable
i have a 2005 mazda 3 1.6 and i switched the resonator with a steel pipe and switched the muffler with one from ulter sport and i think it sounds absolut amazing. got some pops too just by switching the resonator with a steel pipe
Has it been replaced or re-positioned? Normally they run on a track, and there's a few screws holding it in place. Use these screw to make minor adjustments. I say minor because you can make it worse easily.
Well good thing I already chose that for mine before i even watched the vid😂 I even went a step further and cut out the Dual pipe for my 2.5 duratec/MZR 3s to make a single pipe with a single cat and in my case i swapped the resonator out for a magnaflow res. Sounds almost identical to an iNvidia equipped WRXSTI with equal length headers😂 nice and low, bassy sound with a hint of burble to it😊 Edit: and no Mufflers on my 3s too...
@@ColtonRichter alright cool, Im the 2nd owner of a 2010 hatch and have been pretty much "restoring it". has 250k! a lot of suspension bushing where thrashed. stabilizer link bars, ball joints, Outer tie rod ends, rear wheel hub assemblies, front struts, all three motor mounts have all been replaced. Transmission pan dropped filter and gasket changed. Same with engine valve cover. Been periodically changing out transmission fluid as prior owner never did. but My concern is only when im driving sloow (10-15) it slips then a little jolts into 2nd gear. Im considering changing transmission solenoids with hopes that resolves it. Any suggestions beyond that would be awesome. Im aware its high mileage and that could be age, but what if its not???? When I change transmission fluid it stops than reoccurs. Thanks man been using your channel for the whole process. been super valuable and the forums as well.
What would you recommend for something a bit louder than stock, but without droning at highway speeds? Is something like the bolt on from corksport a good idea?
Impo I would just go with the Corksport Performance Catback exhaust system with their Racepipe option and it deletes the 2nd cat and doesn’t throw any Check Engine codes. For either the MZR or Skyactiv Engines. For $750 I personally think it sounds the best sound, not too loud & obnoxious just mild tone and perfect note for a daily commuter. I just bought one and had my local shop put it on for $200 bc I don’t have the tools to do the job myself. Mine is paired with a K&N SRI with heat shield since Corksport doesn’t have one and I personally didn’t want to just suck in hot air. The K&N intake did give my car an extra 5.5-6HP increase on my NA 2.0 MZR 2011 BL1 Sedan and a couple MPG’s so with this setup it sounds just perfect for me
@@ColtonRichter hi coltonn, thank you for the amazing video, i want to ask about the cat delete, do you have to cut the original exhaust? or its just a bolt on stuff, thank youu 😊 edit : i have the 4th generation
hey colton, thank you for the guide :) I removed the muffler on my mazda 3 2.0 2014, and it has a heavier drone while decelerating on 3000rpm, or accelerating around 3400rpm. It also drones around 1900rpm and goes away 2000rpm and above. Is there any way to reduce it? With open windows its not a major issue, but having all windows closed the car drone is heavy for me.
I think anything going louder will introduce some sort of drone, you could try replacing the pipe you used for the muffler delete with a resonator, or even change to an aftermarket performance muffler!
i have a mazda 3 speed 2011 2.5L hatchback myself and i’m looking for a more deeper and louder sound without all that raspy noise in with it ,what setup would recommend?
i was debating on doing that or the cat back exhaust from corksport but i feel like the delete setup might be cheaper but trumpety, so i’m stuck in between both
