  • Hi everybody, and welcome to my "stevenofpa" UA-cam Channel!
This video shows you what it's like to see how I repaired a B1390 DTC diagnostic trouble code on this 2006 Chevy Chevrolet Chev Uplander mini van minivan, similar to Buick GL8, Buick Terraza, Pontiac Montana SV6, Saturn Relay. Here's the fix: in this case it was a disconnected ground wire at the battery negative terminal connection. Pretty easy, huh? Well, it took quite a bit of troubleshooting to find the problem. We think it was caused by a battery replacement that happened many years ago. At that time, maybe the wire was cut, or simply fell off, or had corrosion corroded and then broke, but either way, it was disconnected and not supplying the BCM body control module with the proper amount of ground grounding connection supply, so it could not perform correctly properly. It's a simply yet time consuming and complicated troubleshooting process, you need to check for proper power and grounds on ALL of the power and ground connections at the BCM terminals. If there is not 12v (or close to that), and remember that each terminal must be within 1vdc 1 volt dc of each other, because this is why the code B1390 is set. If the pcm or BCM sees a difference of more than 1v between any of the + or - connectors, then it sets the this code and flashes the service vehicle soon warning message on the DIC driver information center dashboard display (LOTS OF KEYWORDS, yes?). Anyway, please let me know if you find this video useful, and if it helps you to fix your uplander. THanks!
Not a reset, can't clear this code, automatically regenerates, keeps coming back, won't go away, must fix, can't get rid of it, press the arrow button to make it go away just only for one drive cycle.

It's nice to know how to fix things so you can do it yourself, test, repair, shop, mechanic, technician, tech school, teacher, instructor, lesson, how to, fix, garage

This helped a lot because that wire use to connect to a ring that went around the neg. Cables. Ring had two plugs on it, one 3prong and that plug. Bought new ring....well new ring only comes with 3 prong plug and not the other plug..I had a hard time figuring out what to do with it, and thanks to you I know I did the right thing. TY
