Subaru dropped their diesel boxer unit from their lineup..good news is Hyundai is coming up with (near ready I believe) with 3 litre inline Six with 8 speed torque converter..I think you can get that in Genesis GV80 in some markets..😀. I am of the same opinion that conversion into all electric will not stop pollution. In future the abandoned battery pack of an electric vehicle after its useful life will lead to more pollution than now.
Also if any one thinks that he can save money on fuel cost, the then govt will think opposite way. How to squeeze the common man by adding additional taxes and cess on electricity bill.

Have to disagree with you vw diesels in india were never refined,in cabin refinement was good; thanks to good damping but on the outside they were nothing less than a tractor. Hyundai diesels are best in terms of refinement.

After buying my polo 1.5 tdi back in 2014, the service guy called me saying that there is an update which should be done immediately, so I took my polo to service centre and when they returned my polo I felt a lack of power all of a sudden!😑

Both of you missed an important piece of knowledge. In the evolution of Diesel engines by VW, PUMP DUSE or unit injector technology was a unique technology. PD engines used to operate at a much higher pressure which helped the engines to extract almost 40% thermal energy from the fuel. This would certainly increase the fuel efficiency and lower emissions. Wondering why did VW abandon PD engines?

Car showroom executive will justify petrol price/ diesel price same so why you want diesel 😀 but in reality diesel cars give more milege in heavy traffic but petrol will vapour in second in traffic
I think CAFE 2/ BSVI Stage 2 is stopping manufacturers to stay away from diesels. VW even with petrol only portfolio is ranked below Tata on combined fleet's average CO2/km emission.

Hi. I have a small doubt. With the start-stop system, when the engine switches off and turns on again, doesn't that consume more fuel than idling? For prolonged idling it's fine, but for short stops at the light, won't it burn more?
Yes. The start stop system is a gimmick at best with little real world benefit
