Love the build, personally for me I put the salad bowl in the coldest side of the viv, keeps the salad fresher for longer and it doesn’t dry out because it’s under the basking bulb
Hi ill start by saying what a perfect enclosure awesome. Right I'm new to all this I have a 9 Yr old son who is completely besotted with bearded dragons they have one at school and he's wanted one for quite a while now and we've never really gone for it as he as adhd and we felt he just wouldn't be able to keep to certain routines he would have to get used to but we're slowly getting the adhd under control now and we would obviously help him we have no idea as to what we would need we've looked through countless videos on youtube and the majority of videos are all American now I'm sure there way of doing things are amazing but I'm in the uk so I'm guessing how things work will be different here then I came across your video and it was like oh my God you really no your stuff and that enclosure is simply amazing I will go over your set up over and over so I get it right we've found a whole set up to buy for everything it's £398 excluding the bearded dragon of course it's the ultimate set up apparently it's got everything in it I could get the link and send it you if that's OK and hopefully get your advice as to if it's OK and if you say yes that's spot on I'll order it and get the ball rolling so to speak hope you can help
Thanks Richard, given me some great ideas for my little guy, will definately have a digging area for him to use and will be getting him slate flooring as well. He is only little at this time, planning on a 5,x2.5x2.5 for him.
Great videos. How come you changed the position of the dimming thermostat probe from the middle of your old set up to being under the basking spot on your new one. Is there a reason for this as i am not sure where to put mine.
What plaster did you use? I was going to use grout but pretty much all grouts are mould resistant so I can't use them. Is there something I need to keep an eye out with plaster too?
Your branch looks like it is straight from the woods... I have seen videos suggesting you should boil them or part-bleach soak them etc before putting in the enclosure!?
This is awesome and given me ideas for my two bearded dragon vivs. Would this 9:09 work for a waterfall part of the background in a bio-active dart frog paludarium? Or can you recommend an alternative to DryLok that they use in the American videos
love the build! i have a question if you don’t mind. i trust you more than anyone with beardie set ups! i hope that’s ok. i recently upgraded to a new tank and it’s pretty big, just over 120 gallons. the 100w heat bulb wasn’t heating it up enough at all so i’ve now fit a 150w which is heating to 95f in the basking spot at most and 76f on the cold side. also have a dimming thermostat which never has to do it’s job as it doesn’t get hot enough lol. while i know this will suffice in the summer that’s coming up, at the moment and in the winter after, 95f basking is obviously not enough. 105f would be ideal for him. i’m wondering what would be the best way to boost the heat up a bit? if i bought say, a 25w bulb to help, i’m confused on what the thermostat situation would be for that - for two bulbs working at a time. i have a ceramic heat emitter fitted with a pulse-p thermostat which i use for winter nights, but i’m thinking i could use it to boost the tanks heat in the day too but i’m unsure if it’s safe to have a ceramic heat bulb on 24/7. i can’t find much online regarding having a ceramic bulb on all the time. would that be safe? any help here is much appreciated :)
It’s safe to run a CHE 24/7 as long as it’s regulated by a thermostat. Although they don’t need heat at night, they can tolerate a drop as low as 50F. The basking spot should be 110-115F during the day. Make sure you’re measuring surface temps with a temperature gun. To raise the basking spot temperature you can elevate the basking spot and/or use a material that conducts heat better. Also, keep in mind that 120 gallons is only the bare minimum, bigger is strongly recommended. Many people believe the minimum should be even bigger than that.
I have a few questions... 1. I thought you normally go bioactive? 2. Why is slate an upgrade? 3. I thought heat was supposed to come from a bulb without light?
The plants I want for my bio setup are not avaliable at the minute. I've gone half slate and half lose just for enrichment. Diurnal species defiantly need visible light, uv light and infered over the basking spot just like in nature. No light means no uva which stops there body producing important vitamins .
That's great info thank you! So is it a myth that red light hurts their eyes and what heat source do you use at night as I thought the viv had to be total darkness.
Red lights are just useless. They give more negative affects then positive. I don't need a heat source at night. Between the fo background insulating the enclosure Ambiant room temp I have a temp drop at night the same as what Australia would naturally have
My probe isn't on the basking spot. Putting the probe on the basking spot only gives you basking spot heat with a sharp decline in ambient temp across the enclosure. My probe is in the hot side corner set to 27 giving the correct basking temp and a more gental slope in temp through the enclosure providing a wider thermal regulation area
Husbandry is to do with cleanliness. I think your referring to enrichment to which you are correct. I mean like he gets added enrichment through the hunting and being able to thermal regulate both heat and uv but I'm with you. He needs more. I did plan for live plants but the species I want are not avaliable at the minute. And he does have a digging area which he is using. We have a plan to change his flooring which will help.
I can't believe you answered my message thank you so much. thanks you so much for intelligent hey darling. Acknowledging that I'm right because when I say someone is doing rong thay say what I'm saying is rong.like this guy that has been using sand for his leopard gecko for its hole live look sick and I'm trying to get tho to him and he tries to make me feel like I'm doing something rong if you look on my channel you would know he look happy and healthy and because I use a heat lamp for my leopard gecko and he is happy and healthy because I have done my own research and asked around and I try to do all my research before I get a animal because I want to do good for my animal and yes I'm new to leopard gecko but I have made one well too mistake with a heat pad and peat moss but that I no longer use and he is a lot harder in my hands than that Nast petco.can you give me advice on my Bearded Dragon Mylo because he is a 4/5 year old adult and he cough sometimes and I don't know why he does have a coil uvb light I know that bad and a heat lamp don't know what tipe of heat lamp to use and would it be possible if you subscribe to my channel and get me subscribe I need help with My channel hahaha....thanks for listening and answering Back 👋✌

Wow nice video thanks 🎉

I can't wait to see it
Simply the best vivarium. Thank you for the instructions, this old biddy will try it out 😆
You are extremely talented Richard x
Thank you kindly

brilliant tutorial and design best one on u tube can you tell me what make and where you got the mini blow torch from
Great build Richard.
Thank you
That's so cool Richard x
Cheers
Thx dude some useful tips due to upgrade mine soon this helps 👍
Good luck
Very nicely done looks really well
Thank you
do you think these backgrounds could pose as a fire hazard due to heat bulbs would love your opinion
Wow this is an amazing set up I thought people buy these enclosures not buy them.
Thank you. We're always building enclosures like this
What plaster did you use? I was going to use grout but pretty much all grouts are mould resistant so I can't use them. Is there something I need to keep an eye out with plaster too?
What do you use to seal all of the stuff you paint
that looks great!
Thanks a million
Quick question do I need to seal the background with a sealant? As I've researched and been told to use polyvine for it
Great video mate 👍 what size is the uvb light would the 22inch/24watt Pro t5 be good enough
As long as its 12% pro t5 at 30 cm away from the animals head
Your branch looks like it is straight from the woods... I have seen videos suggesting you should boil them or part-bleach soak them etc before putting in the enclosure!?

Awesome Tutorial... how do you clean it
I just saw you at chesire reptile rescue on 2 February 2022
Get used to it :p I'm always there haha
Love the channel, just got a bearded dragon and i was planning on building a ledge, is it insulation board you use, any advise would be appreciated.

Perfect, that makes sense thank you 😊
I’m doing this but instead of paint I’m using cement
Is that dimmer the right one Richard?
It doesn't matter which dimming stat you use. They all do the same job
@@NORTHERNEXOTICS but won’t that one only get the temperature to 32 degrees?

Enjoy buddy
There isn't much in there for husbandry for them not to be bored 😐 no plans or nothing fun for them huh ...
