  • Hey everyone! Welcome back to my channel and to our 2nd ever Azure Standard Haul (yes, we are hooked!). This one took me a little longer to get posted with the prices (not sure I'll do that everytime - phew) But it was really fun to see the savings when compared to Amazon, Walmart, and our local grocery stores.
    I already have my cart ready for March, so make sure to like + subscribe so you don't miss future haul videos. I also have a root cellar video coming soon that I can't wait to share with you all! Thanks for all of the support! xo-Anita

      Thanks! Yes, I am going to share a root cellar video soon. This time of year I don't have a whole lot of home-preserved and home-grown food left, but I still plan on sharing. I can't wait to stock it back up after this growing season. :)

    also shred all own cheese- the pre-shredded usually has maltodextrin which may contain corn- and we have a person in our family with a corn allergy- even a little bit of corn causes hives- we even make our own baking powder - just put in my first azure order- lucky my drop off is only 6 miles away

    Do you have a video on how you make popcorn on the stove? I’d love to see the visual. I know it’s probably not hard but I’d feel better to see how someone else does it :)

    Some good ideas of products to check. One thing I like to use the Flax meal is for bread. I just add 1/4 -1/2 cup to my mix. Thanks for the video. I enjoy getting new ideas. Especially suggested uses - like your buttermilk idea .

      Great idea and thank you for sharing! I know some people simply share what they purchased, but I love elaborating a little. I'm really glad it was helpful to you. Thank you for your kind feedback. :)

    Would love your pizza/crust recipe! Still searching for an easy crust we like. I find my dough likes to shrink back after I have rolled it and stretched it..any help with that is appreciated! I usually wind up with SUPER thick crust ( "of course" the family likes thin crust 😂)

    • @wildthistlekitchen
      @wildthistlekitchen  2 роки тому +1

      And thank you for reminding me that I forgot to link it. I just added the links to the descriptions box. It will shrink back usually if it hasn't risen long enough. If ours does that I just roll it as best I can, then leave it for 10 minutes or so before trying to roll it again. Usually works :)

    Another great haul! Isn’t azure the best? I have some hauls on my channel as well, I just get so excited to try out new items from them since everything has been such great quality and price.
    I’m glad you brought up the transitional almonds... I recently learned about this too and think it’s great and a powerful piece of information for others!

    I purchased the sour cream for the first time last week. It is delicious. I do believe you can use the sour cream to make your own sour cream if I’m not mistaken.

    I don't mean to cause offense, but I have to ask: Are organic cabbage or yellow potatoes really four times more nutritious than conventionally grown? These prices may be good in comparison to organic products sold on Amazon but compared to the products one can buy at Sam's, Costco or, my personal preference, my local restaurant supply store, they seem quite shocking.

    • @wildthistlekitchen
      @wildthistlekitchen  2 роки тому

      I don't think I said they were 4 times more nutritious. I just prefer to buy organic or from smaller farms and responsible companies if I am not growing the produce myself - I don't expect everyone to feel the same. And I do not ever buy fresh produce from Amazon. But when I compare these items to my local stores and even to wholesale near me, they are better. I can't speak for prices in other locations, but I definitely encourage you to shop where you are comfortable shopping and where you get the most value.

    The half and half, also heavy cream. I bought the larger packs, and froze them. But when I defrosted them the milk fat will not cooperate! Lol. They have a curdled *appearance. They taste fine, I can still whip the cream if I warm it a bit ( room temp) or " hide it" in mac and cheese, ice cream etc. But in our coffee, etc...its gross, little bits of seperated milk fat ontop of our coffee. The website says it can be frozen, defrosted. So if anyone knows of a solution please share! I would still order....but not freeze bottles using in coffee/drinks/soup.

      Good to know as that was my plan for this upcoming March order. Now I might just get one or two instead of the 6 packs. Hopefully someone else has some advice? Thanks!

    Ordering fresh vegetables, starting with onion and potatoes, for first time through Azure. Does anyone have ideas how to store them for the longest life possible? Want to try apples, pears, carrots, ect. I only have on refrigerator. We do have a colder cellar, and pantry. But worry about bugs/rodents. Still haven't found any decent traps for them. Eww!

    • @wildthistlekitchen
      @wildthistlekitchen  2 роки тому +1

      Maybe try plastic bins with airholes drilled in the tops and sides - that will hopefully keep any rodents out. You can also store carrots and other root veggies in sand or soil, The Elliott Homestead has a good video on that. My potatoes do sprout after a while, even in the root cellar, but I still use them. :)

      I store my onions and potatoes in wooden slat crates in our basement. Peppermint oil keeps rodents away. They hate peppermint!

    Like your videos but would be better with less background noise and better audio. The dogs and background noise made it hard to hear you

    • @wildthistlekitchen
      @wildthistlekitchen  2 роки тому +1

      Yep, the dogs were really wild during the video, but would have been louder if I put them in their kennels - lol. We are learning as we go and will hopefully have better audio equipment soon. This is real life. :) Thanks for the feedback.

    Semolina flour: I noticed they have 2 types. Does anyone know the difference between them? What is the dis/advantage between them? Might try it next time. May try making pasta again. Might try pizza/breads whatever else I can use it in.

    • @wildthistlekitchen
      @wildthistlekitchen  2 роки тому +1

      One is just more finely ground than the other. maybe the finer will make a softer pasta, but not sure. I just got the regular. :)
