Growing up in the 1970's and 1980's, from a family of very humble means, this song is biographical. The song simply transports me back to a time and place that are gone forever.
There was saw dust on pop's clothes, Mom's brownies baking in the stove, Stupid barking in the yard at a car we don't know, We had it all when we didn't have much. Thank you for this song, it takes me back and reminds me hardiness, are blessed times. And the things that seemed hard, are just beautiful memories, of what a family can struggle, work and love thier way through. This is beautiful.
This song brings me to tears each time I hear it. It was just 3 of us in a small 2 bedroom 1 bathroom frame house made in the 40s and 1 car. All we had were each other and that was enough. Now it's just me and the house and 1 car. Oh mom and dad....I miss you so much.
Justin Moore is the man. This is the sort of raw performance that shows what you really got. Nothing high tech to hide behind. Justin brings it every time.
Man, as a firefighter I wanna thank you for the song called "the ones that didn't make it back home" though I did make it home plenty of times, we lost some of my closest friends over the time I've been a fireman, they didn't make it back home and when I heard the song I cried, and I still hear it every once in a while on the radio. We play it every time we have to lay a EMT, police officer, soldier, firefighter, or any first responder to rest, we appreciate you so much, have a good night Justin.
I can relate to you I’m currently 17 years old been a volunteer firefighter for 2 years now I’ve seen more than anyone else my age and because of it I get to see and appreciate the real world and those who serve and served. Thank you for your service stay safe out their brother

Justin always knows just how to bring back childhood. Working in tobacco, no I Phone, I Pad, just Saturday morning cartoons, and Sunday morning church. We had it all. ❤️❤️
I bawled in my car the first time i heard this, it was my life as a kid, even had a stray dog that wouldn't leave, my pops finally said i guess that stupid f ing dog is ours now. His name became stupid😂 i loved that dog so much, and my family. I misd those good days when you pulled out family albums, and wrote letters. This new day life is a joke, wish we could go back to riding in the back of trucks, and just living simple. Thanks for reminding me ❤
I’m 13 and I’ve been raised on George strait, Garth brooks, randy Travis , Merle haggard, Jonny cash, and so many more. I can’t stand new country and especially rap and sadly that’s what most of my friends listen too. This song holds a special place in my heart not just because it’s a good song and the words in it are so true, but I’m a die hard Braves fan and watch every night. Gonna try and win it all this year!!!
I am also 13, I have grown up on Justin Moore, Craig Morgan. George Strait, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and the last couple of years Upchurch so this song holds a special place in my heart.

Lost my father 8yrs ago to ALS and wish he was still here, but this song brings me back to the days of growing up and having fun as a child with my dad and mom. Great song...love it.

This is such an amazing song!! I'm not going to knock new country, because music is subjective, people like what they like. But for me, this type of country is perfect. Thank you, Justin for giving us this classic!!!
I don't listen to country music much because I'm a little critical about what I consider hit songs but every now and then I'll hear a country song that I consider a hit song. This is one of those songs. It's the real deal and I like it. I can identify with it. But is that what makes it a hit song? Can the general populace identify with it too? I'll bet I'm not the only one.
I stopped listening to country music back in the late 90's when I realized that country music was indeed dead. I don't care if you have a banjo or fiddle or a rural accent, today's country is pop music with a banjo, fiddle and a rural accent. Trust me, I am not alone on that opinion. But thank God there's Justin Moore. I was driving home from work thumbing through the radio trying to find something worth listening to and this song was on. I stopped pushing buttons and listened and thought to myself, finally a good country song. Then out of nowhere Justin mentioned Don Williams in the song. I want to thank you for that. He is still my favorite country singer and I am glad that apparently Justin thinks a lot of Mr. Williams as well. May Mr. Williams rest in peace. If you keep up with this country sound Justin, you will have a new fan of your music. So far, so good. Keep it up and God bless you.
Well now I know for a fckn FACT Justin Moore must e been peekin thru my window growing up.....no way this song can possibly describe my life growin up so accurately.......no way music could sing about our life Right?!
